That's the most gross disgusting picture. May as well be a big steaming joe!

    • +11

We watched one of our founders eat that pile. It was beautiful.

      • +14

it looks fantastic to me.. :P

We watched one of our founders eat that pile.

Was that shortly before the coronary?

      • +3

        Pile is def the word

        I looks glorious to me!

As the person that introduced the Double Quarter Pounder to Australia, initially known as the Beefmeister, I have to ask.
Can we place orders and prepay for pick up during the promotion at the promotion price?

        • Unfortunately, not for this promo. In Feb we are launching order ahead which will allow this type of thing. Congrats on the QP one of the greatest burgers to ever grace the earth.

    • +4

I like the pictures thats what burgers actually look like.

The most noticeable thing is the size of the patties and decent sized pickle, I hate it when they skimp on the pickles

    • +2

must be either vegan or a crossfitter :P

    • +1

That's basically what all burgers look like at fast food places in real life. At least they don't try to hide it like maccas, Hungry Jacks etc

  • +2

Is this in the Scottish highlands or NSW? And are you actually giving away 10,000 burgers or 100 total?

    • +1

Not the Scottish highlands… just good old Redfern, NSW, Australia. 10,000? Where are you reading that?

      • +12

        "100 to the first 100 people"… 100x100=10000 xD

      • +1

        alright, you got me :p

        • +1

But to be fair I edited before your clarification. Surely there are points earned there?

        • +1

          @theburgercollective:
No. Go back to the kitchen, and make me a burger.

          …please?

  • +4

Would hate to see what they look like when you do not put effort into the burger photo

    • +9

lol so you prefer the model shots from maccas and hungrydacks ? then you get it and feel like going all falling down on them? hahaha .. i give them props for going "au naturale" with the pic.. hahahaha

    • +3

Trust me, we aren't professional photographers and besides, its all about the taste, and it's up there with the best!

  • By "download the app and scan in store" I assume you mean the Burger Collective app?

  • +4

That photo made my ass clench

  • +2

I think they've gone for some kind of old fashioned rustic home made look.

I'm kind of perplexed by this food fad where people seem to eat whatever the hell they want as long as it's served on some old fashioned plate or board, yet at the same time think they'll die within moments if they dare eat McDonalds or SUGAR or CHEMICALS.

    • +6

I ate a McDonalds cheeseburger last night. We just love burgers XD

      • +2

They're so good. You know you're finally a man when you stop taking out the slice of pickle. Now I can't image it without the pickle.

        • It took so long, so so long. Embrace the pickle

    • I think they've gone for some kind of old fashioned rustic home made look.

either that, or they have someone on work experience making them.

    • +2

Another peeve of mine. I hate my fries being served in a red plastic colander lined with sheet of wax paper.

I'm thinking when the (profanity) was the colander last washed, please don't let my fries touch the plastic.

      • +1

Coffee the places you eat but the only place I've worked that served them like this washed them every time

        • Dunno why that says coffee at the start haha. Should say "not sure" I guess?

      • +2

I hate chips served in Mini Frying baskets and while I'm at it, anything served up on a plank of wood. Soon as I see the waiter waltzing over with my pie on a chopping block my heart just sinks.

        • +1

I'm the same with Mini Frying baskets and chopping boards.

What is wrong with bowls and plates?

Although, there is a benefit of the Mini Frying baskets, it's likely stay crispier as it doesn't trap steam.

  • -3

If you look closely at the picture, these are just sliders. They are tiny. They're not full burgers. They're only marginally wider than the slice of pickle. Don't waste your time people…

    • +6

      170 gram patty… that's no slider.

      • -2

The picture in your link shows sliders.

    • +5

"Hamburger (formerly known as the Junior Burger in some countries) and cheeseburger – a 1.6-ounce (45 g) ground beef patty." the famous McDonalds cheeseburger has a patty a third of the size.

We are the Burger Collective, not the Slider Collective :p

      • -2

        not the Slider Collective

These look much bigger than yours, and they are sliders

I get the feeling you love judging books by their cover.. I’m not sure what else to tell you. They are a cheeseburger with a 170g patty. We have eaten them on multiple occasions and I promise you we eat enough burgers to know what one is.

        • +2

I have an idea. How many sliders do you think you could eat?

        • -1

@jv: That’s a shame. You seem to do a good job at informing others on what junk food they should and shouldn’t eat…

        • @theburgercollective:

          Surely they aren't 170 grams.
These do look like sliders. But only because we the public have gotten used to seeing McD's photos taken with wide-angle lens, and photoshopped to look as large as possible. I could be wrong, and they might actually be really large but not seem large since the background is blurred and there's no other objects to help gauge the proportions.

Next time use a banana for scale.

        • @theburgercollective: He's a tool who is best ignored.

  • hmm why does this pub sound familiar

Wait a minute this is Thursday, most of us would be at work, you know the types who can afford to pay for a beer or two with the meal

    • +5

If you are working until 11:30pm and can prove it, I’ll have one delivered to you personally 😛 we’ve kept it open late to try and cater for everyone.

      • Was thinking the 100 would be quickly taken up by students

"not that there's anything wrong with that"

      • +2

Props to the PR here! :D

  • +1

I WOULD EAT THAT BACK TO THE STONE AGE

  • …bread cheese meat pickle? you call that a burger?!??

  • -1

You are what you eat…shorten your life span by eating food like this.

    • +3

How exactly Dr? The only bad thing I see there is bread, but something has to hold the meat, cheese and pickles together!

    • yea but who wants to be a long carrot

    • You are what you eat

      Thanks for explaining it scientifically.

      • So for all those kids that ate boogers…?

  • +1

Is there a limit of how many burgers you can buy? I would like 10 of your finest cheeseburgers, thanks.

  • Great Pub!!! One of my old haunts during the mid to late 80's in Abercrombie St, Chippendale!!!

  • +1

Thanks for putting the deal on. I think this deal will be snagged by students pretty early, any chance you can make a comment when all 100 are gone to stop any people coming in late?

  • So $2 for the 5 cheese burgers in the picture?

  • Will you be serving up until 10:30pm!?? My flight lands at 9:40pm tomorrow so might only have time to catch the last burger!

  • All the uni bums from Sydney uni are gonna clean this place out before OzBargain even has a chance.

    • Instead of saying you are an OzBargainer and getting the freebie, how about asking to see the OzB account page? You already want to see the QR code from the app, so it isn't that hard to bring up the account page.

The end result is more free burgers for genuine members, or more new members for OzB. Win win either way.

    • We thought so too but there’s still some left to claim!

  • -7

100 burgers? and you gotta get an app and pay $2. and travel to redfern to save some coin for what looks like a rubbish burger? Nah.

  • Burger (slider?) diameter ~10cm, height when made ~8cm, weight 233g averaging from Food Coma's leftovers. Individually served in a basket and not on a wooden board.

  • Just a reminder, NO TAKEAWAY.
I was told after I bought my burgers.

  • There are still 60 left to claim!

  • +1

I enjoyed this classic greasy cheeseburgers.
I ate 2 and was full. My diet usually consists of hungries , macca's and fine dining at burgers and ribs.
So, At first from the pic, I thought they were sliders, they are not. The diameter wider and packed.
I got there at 1129, and there was a small queue but it was for watching food coma eat.
At 1133am, Only 3 people then said they were ozibargain members. I didn't bother for 2 bucks and No there was no hungry uni students either. Only 2 guys in the kitchen pumping out the burgers.

I planned to buy 20 bucks of burgers, and have my meals set for the week.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the case. No takeaways.

So I was stuck with 5 cheeseburgers, sitting beside food coma guy who had eated 19 burgers, who was burping consistly and ready to puke.
I think 8 bucks is a fair price for the burger, after the special.
After lunch, it got packed you couldn't move.

If your in the neighbourhood, go for the cheeseburgers.

    • 17 he ate, I think. 18 was the previous record and he was trying for 19. In the end he couldn't equal the record.

I was waiting for my burger so I sat behind the crew and watched it happen. He was pretty sick after the last mouthful.

  • Thanks so much everyone! The 100 OZB burgers have now sold out 😞 but $2 burgers are still flying out the door!

  • +1

    Horrendous wait, don't bother coming.

    • Sorry about the wait times. Pm me your tbc email address and I’ll sort something out for you.

  • How long are the wait times?

    • Currently 30 Mins

      • Still a 30min wait?

Got a pregnant wife who is keen but will probably faint for its still 30+ for meal to arrive.

  • All sold out now? The place looks rather empty.

    • I think they are still doing $2 burgers. Gonna head over and try one out.

      • +1

Don't bother and waste your time like i did… They sold out a few hours ago, op just hasn't updated…

        • Can confirm, headed over.
          Oh well.

  • Very nice deal and got a free burger at around 2:30, I liked the hotel and will be back. Wait was extremely long at over 1.5 hours, but that was a given and just spent the time hanging with mates. Very nice tasting as well.

To all the haters, this is the best cheeseburger I’ve ever eaten.

  • What a waste of my time, turned up and was told wait was going to be at least 1 hour. The establishment should have anticipated the increased demand and allocated more resources (staffing level, meat, buns whatever) accordingly.
