  I bought this battery elsewhere for $80ish a while back

  Yep, I got the Masters deal

  I find the 4Ah battery to be 'not too heavy'. hardly noticeable difference in use, but do I need another???.

  I got the kit from Masters also. Are these batteries only compatible with other Fatmax equipment? I'm wanting to buy some cordless garden equipment (eg hedge trimmer, line trimmer etc) but haven't found any in the fatmax range.

    Yes, you have to buy batteries from the same make and range.

    Fatmax are also rebadged as Porter Cable in the USA, you can buy other bare skins on Amazon but they don't sell hedge trimmer etc no. Ebay batteries for Porter should also work but i cannot personally confirm this, I've had some in my cart for ages because the 2.0ah batts just don't last me very long but didn't pull the trigger yet

    edit: I just looked on Amazon and there is way less skins than there used to be, circular saws, recipro saws, etc aren't there.

    As above…compatible with PCable (20v) ones. Also compatible with B&D (minor hack see youtube). I essentially have a mix of fatmax + P Cable (20v) and B&D gardening stuff using the same fatmax battery.

    Also it's easier/cheaper to buy 20V Porter Cable batteries on ebay to fit fatmax and as above B&D(with minor hack). Don't worry about 18V vs 20V difference. It's just marketing BS.
