      $700 ish vs $100 ish ? I don't see how that's comparable ?

    • I recently bought the satellite wave for 450 from a previous ebay deal. These watches are way too large. At 48mm they look stupidly big. They really need to be about 42-43mm max.

If this was, I'd be all over it. I sent the other one back.

    • +1

What an odd suggestion. The watch you are suggesting is significantly more expensive (its specs are much higher) and a completely different style. It's also ridiculously sized at 48mm - your wrist would have to be over 8 inches plus in circumference. Given the high accuracy of quartz, I reckon the satellite tech is a bit overkill - which you are paying for. Really, How long does it take to set the time?

For that asking price, you can get a Swiss chronograph with a 7750 such as a Victorinox if you look hard enough. Or save a lot more and get a Swiss quartz chrono like a Fortis, Hamilton, Victorinox or Alpina. Perhaps even a Dan Henry 1963.

  • Yes it is but at a much higher price ;)

I have emailed them and trying to get it sub $700 as a deal post. See how we go

    • $700 less 5% i will bite, its Titanium FFS, have one already, fab material

      • Yeh it sure is!

I got the radio controlled one from a previous deal and have stopped wearing my stainless steel one ever since.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/318268

Much much lighter, has a premium look to it and seems it's less prone to scratches.

        • Titanium is normally much more susceptible to scratches than SS, so that's surprising to hear. If you want to clean the titanium, use a regular office eraser. Works amazing.

        • Titanium is better suited to a dress watch. eBay has many secondhand titanium watches with scratching.

      • I would find it VERY hard to resist as well :) at that price

Strap is quite ugly for the watch

    • +2

I agree. The canvas style nylon Nato is way too thick. You can see (at 13 sec in the video mentioned above) how far off the wrist the watch head sits due to the double layer of strap. Easy and cheap to change, but it fits the style.

      • +1

agreed there, watch looks nice but that strap, well maybe this is why it's on sale

  • +2

What was the price match deal for this watch that just got pulled as no deal?

    • +1

I think it was to do with a make an offer price, which isn't allowed as a deal.

      • +1

        thanks

  • Bought a Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar Watch BL8002-08A for my dad in 2008/09 and it still goes strong. The beauty of perpetual calendar is once its set ,it goes for ever -No worries about short February ,No worries about Leap years-It just goes on. Fantastic watch.

    • Got something similar. Perpetual watch is great. Don't have to change anything plus solar so it can last a very long time.

    • What about the 2016 leap second?

  • +4

Great price on an Eco-Drive Chronograph.

  • I can't pick between black or white. White seems to be more popular on ozb judging by sales.

Also I like the way the white one looks with the strap, however I am more than likely going to change it, what straps would you all reccomend for either watch?

    • +1

Both would go well with a stainless steel strap but I favour white over grey because it is a busy dial. Measure carefully before ordering a strap because I cannot find the current strap width anywhere.

      • Thank you. I will get the white one. Just spent an hour looking for a watch case lol

        • A watch case for inserting a movement etc or a box to put several watches in?

        • @PJC: oops I meant box.

        • @PJC:
20 watch box is pretty amaze.

        • @Jackal: Member WatchNerd has a box from that seller. I bought the 12-watch version for my wife. Equal to the $199 versions we scrutinised in a couple of jewellery stores.

        • +1

          @PJC:

Haha no I don't. I don't own any watch box.

        • @WatchNerd: Oh sorry! I must have misinterpreted a comment of yours a few months ago!

        • @PJC:
Once you received it they were as good as jeweller watch boxes in real life???!!!

        • @PJC:

I think I may have put a link to one on eBay that ilikeit had mentioned one time.

Also just noticed in the Aldi catalogue, they have a 5 slot watch box for $20.00 soon.

        • @WatchNerd: I probably assumed you bought one.

        • +1

@Jackal: Yes. My wife keeps her watches in it. She's now down to 8. They are much better value than flowers and if I buy her chocolates I eat most of them anyway.

        • +2

@WatchNerd: the Aldi watch boxes are ok, like cheap eBay ones I guess, bit you can inspect them first. Last year they sold out quickly near me.

I picked up the Aldi sunglasses box which is the same as the watch box, just different dividers. It's great of just lay your flat. Mine if full now with watch strap, natos, spring bars and tools and bracelet links.

I have a wooden watch box for the longevity compared to PU which peels.

        • @ilikeit:

Do you have the ebay link still?

        • +1

@Jackal: I think it was this one, it's been in my watch list for ages -

          10 Slot Wooden Watch Case ~AU$26.47 + $17.76 shipping = approx $44.23
Use Code P5OZZIE for 5% off.

        • +2

@Jackal: I bought this one in the small size with 18 slots and accessories compartments. It is SOLID.

It's still available in the larger size - one left.

I paid AU $30.36 and about $35 postage. If you're going to hide it away in your closet, I'd probably just get a cheaper one. This one is def nicer to display and should last a long time.

        • @PJC: I bought this one before you sent me a link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302548472835 ( I wanted somewhere to put my cufflinks too) and when I get some movement watches, I am going to add this to my collection https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322580712259 .

I also liked this combo: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322836717249 with https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322743321691

        • @giovannip: Certainly a nice appearance but consider a wooden winder box if possible.

        • @giovannip: One or two of these may suit you.

        • +1

@PJC: they seem a lot nicer. It's just very hard to tell from the pictures how they all compare in real life. Maybe I will also replace the cheap one I bought now in the future. Perhaps I can find something to match the wood of the winder you showed me.

Citizen really needs a new designer

They build amazing virtually maintenance free watches at impossible price
but the design is lacking behind even startups.

  • +2

    Anyone tried making an offer?

    • +2

      Yes, rejected :-(

      • +1

$113 looks to be the best that'll be accepted

    • +1

      my offer of $89 was declined… :P

  • +3

    I tried $110 & $112 both got declined.

    $115 was auto accepted

    • +1

      Thanks! Every dollar counts.

    • +2

Yep, me too - thanks for posting.

    • +2

$113 got over the line, every dollar!

      • +2

        Lol good job
I had 1 offer remaining and didn't want to take that risk

        • +3

Damn it why didn't I check again before offering 114.

        • +2

          @omgitzrick: haha i offered 114 myself.

      • +2

        $113 same

  • 45mm case size seems huge to me. Anyon have a pic of how it looks on the wrist?

    • +2
      • Thanks mate!

    • What size is your wrist?

Wrist shots are notoriously misleading if you are wanting to try see how it may look on you.
There are too many variables involved.

      • Thanks for the tips mate. My wrists are quite small so i think this will be far too big for me.

        • Yes 45mm is considered on the large size in the watch community.

      • Hey WatchNerd, i've been following a lot of your posts and have picked up some of the cheaper ones to try getting into the feel of wearing them more often.

I have a similar problem to drogba. Small wrists - any watches you'd recommend 40mm or under? to give you a better idea, I have a Fossil Blue “bq-9196”… i think that is under or equal to 40mm. Pretty much ideal on my wrist (juuust a little chunky, but it's the closest thing i've come to perfect fit).

        • +1

With limited info on your budget and what style you want, maybe look at Seiko 5 models. They have a lot on offer that are smaller in diameter.

Also I just commented on these 38mm Citizen Eco-Drives here.

  • +1

    Thank you OP.
$113 offer accepted and ends up $107.35 with the code

Looks like you forgot to upvote.

  • +2

Got mine today, went with the white face. Absolutely stoked with it. Thanks for posting this :)

    • wouldnt mind getting this one for a pressy to myself….
      does it feel big?
is the strap comfortable and does it sit well on your wrist?

      • +1

I kinda had the intention of replacing the band from the start as I wasn't sure if I'd like the Nato band, but I actually love it and won't be swapping. It sits nicely and yeah it is big but that's what I wanted.

  • +2

Only just bought mine today, will have to wait until next year for it.

    Thanks OP
