Good deals, literally all of them are useless to me though!

    • +3

Dunno about you mate but I'm gonna get into makeup just to make the most of this deal.

      YOLO

  • I just bought two boxes of tea from T2 on Friday. Will have to stock up!

    • +1

Now that you have two Amex card you can stock up double the amount. :D

      • +1

Yessss … Once the second card arrives!

        • +1

Pretty sure you get it in time to register it. There's 20,000 on offer.

        • @nightelves: I got it in the post today! That was fast.

But the T2 offer seems to be maxed out.

        • +1

          @kerfuffle:

Oh no you might have to ask Turd to help you out with his 25 Amex card. Unless you want to visit Melbourne :p

    • Did you by any chance notice if T2 accept Apple Pay?
Forgot to bring the physical supplementary card with me :-(

      • +1

They should. They definitely do Android Pay

I picked up two boxes of tea on the way to work today and got the qualifying e-mail

        • +1

          Many thanks @kerfuffle!
Can't wait to check them out..

  • +2

What's the BPme app like? Make payments directly from your phone? So I can pump $20 then sit in my car and pay with the app, and pump another $20 and pay with a different Amex?

    • +3

something like that and you can add multiple amex cards that you have registered into the account section and select it as method of payment.

    • +1

BP me is an apps, u don’t need wait for staff in bp for authorize your pump. You authorize urself. Also u don’t need go to the shop for pay ur fuel. Pretty handy.

But u can’t get your velocity points. The apps haven’t link to velocity yet

      • Can you use the app to buy things in store? Eg opal?

        • +3

I just downloaded the app and had a look at the interface. To pay for the fuel, it uses location services to work out which BP you're at, and then you choose which fuel pump number to pay for. So I don't think you're able to buy other stuff with it.

        • @uggugg: thanks for the heads up

        • Nope
You can only use it for authorize the pump and pay for your fuel

    • +7

Will be funny when you pay for your fuel at the pump then run off leaving people thinking you just did a runner. 😄
Not as funny is when you honestly think you paid at the pump but the transaction didn’t go through due to connection issues. 😜

      • +1

Haha, yep just did it and it felt weird.
        App worked well, quite convenient.

        • +1

The app description says it for use with BP plus fleet card? Do you have a fleet card or are we able to bypass this?

I thought there used to a rule about using mobile phones near fuel pumps.

        • @edman:

You're fine to use your phone in the car, but not out in the open - they don't like that too much.

The description on the BP website says that you'll confirm your pump number when you pull up, leave your phone in the car, fill up and then they'll email you a receipt.

        • @edman:

You may have downloaded the other app. This is the app you are looking for: https://www.bp.com/en_au/australia/products-services/bpme/bp…

        • @darthsparrow:

Yes thats what it was, wrong app.

    • +1

In reality, you'll have to choose your first payment method and pump $20, then choose another card and pump another $20.

It's up to you it you want to get back in your car unnecessarily whilst you choose your other card.
It may be more convenient to dangerously stand by the pump if you dare hold your phone in its proximity!

    • "$20 or more, in one or more transactions". Does this mean I can use the same card multiple times?

      • It means you can fill up $2 x10 and get the credit.

      • +1

@bkoolrocks No. Only once per card

        • +1

I just tried this at a BP station and guess what..this apparently doesn't work in some BPs…

    • I bought fuel with it a few days ago and it was really easy. I did stick my head in the door and made sure everything was sweet and it was, but the guy behind the counter did say he shit himself when his computer started beeping and he wasn’t sure what was happening. He told me I was the first person he’d seen use it.

  • Just had a thought…say T2, purchase something worth $40 in-store, ask for a split payment, process $20 on 2x Amex cards…..that should work technically.

    • +3

T2 is spend $30 not $20 but split payment should still work if you spend $60.

      • yep haha thanks….i had to make this smart idea into a retarded derp moment

    • How? The minimum spend to trigger the credit is $30

      • ye its 30…in my mind it was 60 spend, but my fingers typed 40 spend instead of $40 after cashback.

    • Isn't it spend $30 per card?

      • +1

ye soz. I was slightly touched when i wrote the original comment.

    • well i obviously mucked up the equation, but surely it doesnt take a smart mind to change my figures to $60 and $30 lol….surely.

    • It's $30 spend to get $10 credit back.

  • Not sure why but cant add BPme offer on my supplementary card.

    • i was able to register all of my cards and add them into the bp app.

    • I added it to my supplementary card first, now it won't let me add the primary card!

  • +1

    Can't find Aussie farmers, targetted?

    • Showed up on my DJs AMEX, as did the BPMe one. T2 I had to add manually.

      • Where did it show up? I've logged into the Aussie Farmers Direct, added Amex payment information. Still cannot see this deal.

        • Showed up in my Offers

    • Found when I opened my account. Wasnt available on general page the op posted

      • How exactly did you see this offer? Did you create a NEW account? And where did the offer appear? When you went to checkout with an AMEX? Or when adding payment information? I often shop using them so this offer seems good if I can work out how to redeem it.

        Cheers!

    • damn was looking forward to using this offer

    • I can't see the offer either, is there a direct link? Thanks

  • I wonder if purchases through the BPme app show up as just BP? Amex would not be able to tell (like gift cards and such). Then it's as good as all other BP deals.

    • I doubt it would trigger the credit for an in store purchase.

    • I think the merchant info will be different. It usually shows the location for the in-store transaction. For the app, it is centrally processed so it's likely the merchant at headquarter.

    • that will be interesting to know.

  • While registering for bpme app, I have an option of using PayPal. So, would I be getting both benefits from Amex - PayPal deal as well as bpme deal?

    • +2

Paypal + BP might not work. If you use PayPal inside BP it may show up as only PayPal and not give you the BP offer. Although I am only guessing YMMV, AMEX may have a way of tracking your use of the app

      EDIT. T&C say no deal

Excludes payments not made via the BPme app, such as payments in-store, payments made via BP Fuel card and purchases made through a third party payment processor

    • +1

      Will not work.

      • +1 I tried the domino's Amex offer a while back (spend $20 get $10 back) and paid through PayPal but didn't get cash back. Contacted Amex and they quoted T&Cs saying not valid for payments through PayPal.

    • +1

You can take advantage of both offers, just not at the same time. So link the CC directly in the app, and also via PayPal. Spend the $20 directly to get $10 back offer first, then spend the rest on PayPal and get 20% back.

  • -3

Can you top up opal with the BP me app?

  • Logic says I can add have 1 BPme account and have multiple amex cards and take advantage of the offer that way.
Just want to confirm others have been fine doing it this way.
Otherwise it seems a pain to have 1 BPme account per amex card.

    • +2

I doubt anyone has had a chance to test this yet.

    • You can add multiple cards to one BP account.

      • Do you happen to know if there's a limit and if so what the limit is?

        • +2

I managed to add 6 without any problem!

        • I've got all my 12 cards linked to my account so there's no limit as far as I can see.
I'll load my partner's 2 cards in as well and try it out.

Only glitch I can see is that with this many cards, it 'suppresses' the nicknames you give them, so you have to wait a while to have the names expand out.

        • @MathNerd: So you're really only limited by how much fuel your car holds / how many jerry cans you have.

        • @JIMB0: Yeah, pretty much. Assuming of course that you want to use up all your cards in one fill!

  • +1

Can’t see anywhere on the app for velocity number. Anyone knows if you can earn velocity points through the app?

  • Anyone know how to get Velocity Points if using the BPme app?

    • +3

You can't. Check out the waffle in the FAQ in reply to 'Does your Velocity program link to BPme?

  • +4

Thanks OP. The BPme app deal is very good. Saved it to all my cards.
The other deals are good too, but I won't use them, so I'll leave the spots for someone else that genuinely requires them.

  • +1

Wonder what happens when you prepay for $20 and your tank is full before it reaches the $20 mark

    • +1

Then you lose out. It's not like they're going to be generous and refund your money back.

    • I haven't got the app yet, but you are saying it is like 7/11 prepay fuel?

From the other comments I thought it was fill-up and then pay.

      • There's no prepayment. Pay whatever you fill

        • Haha ok, then what are the boffins above me talking about?

        • +1

          @knobbs:

lol I ignore 93.3% of whatever people say on here … and generally on the internet. The 6.7% are the gems you want to hang on to :)

    • +1

      Jerry can

  • +1

I wonder if AmEx treats this as a fuel purchase, i.e. 2 points per $ on the Platinum Edge or 3 points per $ on the DJ AmExs. Not really relevant for Explorer though.

    • +1

@MathNerd got 2 points per $ on my Platinum Edge

      • Thanks for the confirmation, so they've set it up as a fuel purchase. Sweet as. So no difference in using Explorer or Platinum Edge.
        Great news, thanks again.

  • thanks OP

  • +11

La mer deal is really good. $40 back on your $4000 face cream - they're practically giving it away

    • Haha I love it when AmEx gives deals on these high end designer brands - it's almost like they're going back to their roots and catering to their initial clientele - select groups of high net worth /high-spend individuals who wanted premium products and services.
Of course this all changed when OzB'ers came along and started recharging Opal/Myki, stocking up on toilet paper, splitting restaurant bills and using Shop Small!
As Gerry Harvey says, the OzB 'professionals' are out in full force.

  • +3

Did anyone see a MacDonalds offer appear?

    • Yep I have $5 off $15 spend on mine

    • +1

I saw this, both in my account and on the manual links page, but couldn't add it to my card.

When I try to add the offer in my account:

Sorry. We were unable to save this offer to your Card. Please try again later.

When I try the manual link:

      WE'RE SORRY

The Card number you have entered is not eligible for this offer.

      Try a different card.

BUT, just tried it on the app, and was able to save it there.

    • Yep, got it, wouldn’t let me save at first as I was saving the others, logged out /back in app and saved

    • Yep
