  • Fairly straight forward. Minimal effort for $50

  • How can I find out when was the last I had or closed an account?
I know I did have bank of Melbourne but can't remember if was last year or

    • Just go ahead and open it, they will advise

    • Did you keep your statements? They send one when you have closed your account.

  • if only this would work in addition to BankSA deal which i just applied for

  • I think we crashed the system….

decent deal - worth checking all the fee though

$5.00 Monthly account service fee (If you don't deposit $2000 a month)

    • it's in OP

  • Remember that, you have to deposit $2000 EACH month to waive the $5 monthly service fee. Which means $2000 in December and $2000 in Jan. Otherwise your net gain will be $40 from the promo

  • If I go and plonk $250 into each account and after a month the fees are deducted, will this still allow for the $50 credits or will I need to ensure my balance is equal to or above $250? Thanks

Pro tip: if you have kids, you could open the account for them as a signatory, deposit the money, and after 60 days take their ID to the branch, withdraw your $50, swap it over to a Complete Freedom Student account (which has no monthly fee) and then tell your kids you did a great deed and set them up their first bank account. :^)

    • The $5 monthly fee still applies and is charged on the 1st of each month if the account does not show a deposit of $2000 in that month. Therefore, by the time you wait the 60 days to convert the sub product type to a student account, the fees would have already applied so you’re wasting your time.

Best thing you can do is keep it simple. Transfer $2000 at least once per month and then transfer it straight back out. The account just needs to register a total deposit value of $2000 or more within the entire month to waive the $5 fee. You can also transfer multiple smaller amounts in and out again to make up the $2000 credit threshold, as long as the credits total $2000 within each calendar month.

      • Yeah, but if you open multiple as a signatory, you can benefit from the offer more than once, as the account is technically not in your name and valid for the offer again. Then you can just bounce the $2000 around between the accounts to avoid the fees.

        • Well then, for those who don’t currently have children… better get breeding as the offer expires 2nd March! Fingers crossed for triplets :)

    • Good idea for those who had kids for Westpac's small bump deal from last year.

Can I deposit $2000 into the account and withdraw it on the next day (and repeat this every month) to avoid the fee? Thanks.
