Samsung 50 Inch UHD TV MU6103 $798 or $758 with 5% Code @ JB Hi-Fi

150

My first post so please correct me if I missed anything out. Seems to me the cheapest 50 inch UHD tv if you’re after the ‘big brands’. Tried comparing to usual videopro eBay 20% deals this work out to be cheaper even with delivery (cost $6.99 to Queensland). Specs looks good to me with 100hz refresh rate.

Is this any good? How does it compare to the Hisense 50N6 or 50N7?

  • No HDR, it seems

    • Are you sure? I’m not 100%, but on the Samsung website it says “HDR” in the specs.

        Quoting rtings.com:

"HDR on the MU6100 is unremarkable, as the HDR peak brightness is inadequate and the lack of a local dimming feature and of a wide color gamut option can't really set it apart from a normal SDR TV."

So apparently it has HDR, but it's not that good. Might be worth checking it out in store.

Wrong TV, the US MU6300 is equivalent to our MU6100/MU6103.

  • Do you know if the price is only for today? (not taking into account the 5%). looking at getting it price matched elsewhere.

looks like this https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/mu6100 if this is the same model, its good for gaming

    • No, it's not the same TV. The US MU6300 is the equivalent of our MU6100/6103, so look at the rtings.com review for the MU6300. TV manufactures have the most confusing model naming system.

I've had this TV for 24 hours. I've previously had the Sony X7000E and Hisense N6. I didn't keep either of these TV's, as although they were good for the money, they each had a some weak points which I couldn't really live with.

is TV is exceptional for the money. It may not be excellent at any one particular thing, buy it does every really, really well. I will definitely be keeping this TV, very happy with it. At $800, nothing touches it.

The TV does support HDR/HDR 10, but you won't get the full effect due to the colour gamut and peak brightness. This is common for all HDR TV's at this lower price point. But playing Xbox One X games, HDR is noticeable and overall picture quality is excellent.

    • What was wrong with Sony and Hisense?

Hisense had terrible vertical banding and DSE. The Sony has really low contrast (900:1), and black uniformity is bad. I really can't fault the Samsung at this point.

  • Only seems to be 1 Year Manf. Warranty :(

  • Why on jb hifi samsung mu6103 is 798 and mu6100 1038$ ?

What is missing in mu6103, any ideas?

    • MU6103 does not have Bluetooth and comes with a standard remote control instead of the fancier “One” remote control. These are the only differences.
