Great price, and very capable speakers. Still enjoying mine!

    • I'm getting GG to match then I'll drop the $20 credit they just gave out into it.

      • How does everyone seem to be getting these vouchers? :P

      • Sorry, what is GG? And which $20 credit did I miss out on?

        • +1

The Good Guys. You join their "concierge" program if you buy an extended warranty on an item from them. They occasionally send you store credit (usually about $20) with no minimum spend (among other things).

        • @dqtl74: lol I get wireless keyboard mouse combos ect usualy but I'd like bedroom speakers

        • @dqtl74: Can we use the code from that program in store? Cause to my knowledge you can't price match online.

        • +1

@ShaneG: you can use instore they just input the code +pin off your txt

  • For pure bass, yes this will have plenty of it, although I'm guessing very muddy.

For much much better sound quality, a pair of Voll bookshelf speakers will be a better choice, although need to buy one of those $30 T amps off eBay…

    Horses for Courses….

    • I had the generation before this, and if these are anything alike, you're not gonna find anything that compares to these for the money, including speakers with 4 inch LF drivers, and driving them with a $30 amp?

      • +3

The Logitech speakers will sound loud and have lots of bass, but will not have the sound quality.

Depends what you mean by compares? Volume? Bass? Sound Quality?

These 2.1 speakers have high end and muddy bass, usually no mid range.

Pick up some Volls and you'll feel like you're listening to the songs for the first time - so much more detail will be heard.

    • how do i find these 30 dollar amps for the Volls? I did a search and there is all sorts of crap on ebay, is there any specific model or brand to look for?

Recommend upgrading the power supply to 5A. It won't go too loud, but it's pretty good for the price. Either that or find an old stereo amp 2nd hand from the 90s…

        • -2

          i don't think u got one !!
those ar loud enough to make u deaf with 2A power adapter.
plz dont give out advice like this, why u want the other ppl to screw up??

        • @samelight:

I do have one and I did upgrade the power supply and it made a difference. I don't know why it's that surprising. 2A is underpowered, the amp can pull more than 2A.

        • -2

          @placard:
ya right! whatever u say dude,
so many youtube videos out there to prove is loud enough! whats the point of keep saying its not ?! ya 5a may get u louder but it doesn't mean the powersupply came with it is not powerful enough.

and btw if u do have one then u should know about the background noise problem, why u still recommend it to the others ? the sound quality is no match with the Logitech Z623, "Voll bookshelf speakers" maybe better but this $30 amp is a joke and screw up everything.

        • @samelight:

I don't have a background noise problem, but to be honest, I don't really care. You enjoy your Logitechs, as long as they sound okay to you, that's all that matters….

        • @placard:
          look at the specification !
          THD Distortion: 10%@23W 4ohm 10%@13W 8ohm
          numbers cannot lie!
to be honest im not surprise why u can't hear the background noise becoz with 10% distortion and u still saying u could enjoy ur music!
well, u dont care why should i! as long as it sound okay to you, that's all that matters, but plz keep it to urself or mention those problems when u recommend it to the others.

I have them, and they are good for most Internet sounds.

The tweeters are fake, though, just a pieces of plastic with THX written on them.

Although I guess this is the era of fake tweeters

      • +3

i dont know why ppl keep thinking it got a tweeter ? never c any tweeter got cover up like this.
or is it written somewhere on the box ?!

    • the Logitech Z623 is THX Certified !! the sound quility is not bad at all !!
im not saying it sound better then the "Voll bookshelf speakers" since i dont have one to compare, but with a "$30 T amps" im sure the sound quality sux!!

      FYI
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lepai-Lepy-LP-2024A-Tripath-Clas…
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hi-Fi-2-1CH-Stereo-Audio-Amplifi…

i have tried those 2, the sound quality ar so bad that everything is fuzzy, maybe someone will like that kind of sound signature but other then that the background noise so large that it makes me sick, return and exchanged still the same, i guess that the common problems for cheap amps.

once again the "Voll bookshelf speakers" may have better sound but certainly not with a cheap amp like u said.

        THX doesn't mean anything

        • +1

not all logitech's speaker ar quilifed for this,
sure it means something, u care or not thats the only problem.

        • @samelight: Actually, it does mean NOTHING. I had a set of 2.1 Logitech Z-4 which I bought for $50. They still sounded a whole league better than these crap. And it was also made by Logitech. And it was cheaper. And it didn't have your favourite THX logo.

        • @ragingthunder:
Actually, how it sounded ar depends on ur personal preference, THX Certified only carried out by bunch of numbers and machine test results. THX need to maintain their reputations they won't give out this Certified easily, i truse them since they made standards for so many movies. but ofcoz thats the standards for theaters, if u use them to listen to 64kps music it wont do u any good, in fact it should sound much darker and blurry with a crappy source, just like under a magnified glass all problems of the sound source ar clearly presented in front of u with less pleasures.

and btw i got the Logitech Z-4 too, the high vocal just a joke, but yes ofcoz u won't hear that due to highly compressed mp3 files.

        • @samelight: Who the hell still listens to mp3s??? You need to find a better job dude! I am streaming at 384kbps on a set of $200 Macays. Of course, you'll never experience anything like this, with your 1990s "MP3" files.

        • @ragingthunder:
          u don't even know whats mp3 and u start to bs ??
          who told u mp3 file can't be at 384kbps ?? who told u a set of $200 Macays cannot play 64kbps file??
in fact the 384kbps is a compressed file either do it in mp3 format or others, and also yes! they ar still using the 90s technology to compress, u ar still hearing the sound from the 1990s. "a set of $200 Macays" makes u proud ? dude the cables of my hifi system cost me neally 10k! just the cables!!!
You need to find a better job dude! or u will stuck with this 384kbps "experience" for the rest of your life!
basically u know nothing dude! do urself a favour just walk away, u ar humiliating urslef!

        • @samelight: u have already proven you have no clue about sound quality or music compression or anything for that matter. Just go back under the cupboard crutching your "THX-certified" woofer.

        • @ragingthunder:
u don't even know 384kbps is a compressed file, i have no clue ? u ar shameless dude.

Good speaker. Pass for this time. My z5500 still rocks

    • +2

I love my Z5500's, I'm always scared that they'll break down one day after so many years of cranking (touch wood). They're definitely the 'white whale' of good 5.1 speakers!

    • QFT!!

  • It says "unavailable online"?

  • So tempted to get this with either my $50 JB Hi Fi gift card or $100 coles group gift card. Thing is i'm trying to get th Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC headphones with the Officeworks and still waiting on a good deal to buy the apple watch as a present for dad from JB Hi Fi with the $50 gift card.

I heard they are good speakers btw, a good price too. But it doesn't beat the $36 deal a few months ago.

  • Would anyone be able to tell me if I can somehow hook up an iPad Air2 (maybe Bluetooth?) or even CD's through these?

We have not had speakers for a few years, sometimes playing CDs on an old CD player. Yes; we are really out of touch on these things.

    • +3

Yes - for the ipad purchase one of these (currently 30% off at JB) plus 5% Wild Wednesday voucher if you have: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/accessories/logi…

      • +1

Thank you; I will have to check that out. Have never heard of these before. With our last speakers the (old) iPad slotted into a frame.

      • +1

        Thanks !!!!

        That is excellent!

  • great offer, got one myself :) thanks op

  • Those you got the speakers, How is the sound output? I had one but, din like it though… I like creative speakers more than Logitech..

  • +1

These are only good for gaming and movies. For music, look elsewhere.

  • Got one for metalcore/pop punk music.
    Z623 has:
-thunderous bass (for bass drum, but bass guitar is a little drowned out)
    -prominent treble (for vocals)
-really weak mid (for electric guitar).

  • How do these compare to Creative T40 Series 2 speakers? Need some speakers for the second monitor that I run the Switch on.

  • Can't decide between these and z337. Which one?

  • Just got one from HN for $89 . Price match for JB Hifi . No stock in JB neither Officeworks. Nice deal . Good old Harvey wanted $197….
