  • Perth to Melbourne for the Formula 1 is $129 each way so I'm waiting for Ticketmaster to load so I can buy the tickets at once.

  • Anyone know if they generally have sales to US at this time of year for Feb?

I thought Honolulu ($388) to US ($428) to would be a cheaper alternative but the one way fare back from US is nuts (Over 1k). Almost equates the same as going to Los Angeles ($800 return)

    • Hah yeah, going to Hawaii from oz is actually generally much cheaper than from the states, at least where I'm from

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if I were to buy tickets to bali now would insurance cover me for volcano issues in feb/march? (I usually go with Travel insurance direct) or would they not because there is currently a high alert on?

edit: found out my own answer!

For policies purchased after 8:05pm (AEDT) on Tuesday 21 November 2017, cover is not available for claims arising from any volcanic activity, including any new ash cloud events, as such events are no longer unforeseen.

If you purchased your policy after Friday 22 September at 10.00am AEST
We will not be able to offer you cover as the event was no longer considered to be unexpected after 22 September 2017. It is important to remember that you will still be covered for all other unexpected events that occur on your trip that are not related to the volcanic activity.

Cover will resume when travel-related transport, infrastructure, systems and services previously affected by Mt Agung, have since resumed and have operated normally for at least 21 consecutive days. We are closely monitoring this and will update our advice as the situation changes.

The Sydney to Christchurch flights are horrible. You arrive at midnight!

    • horrible for Sydney-siders maybe.. for Christchurch customers its probably great as they get to maximise time in Sydney saving hotel costs

Most of the Melbourne to Christchurch/Auckland flights are even worse. Leave at midnight and arrive around 6am after flying for 4 hours.

I keep seeing the heading and thinking Office Works are offering flights now.
