Nikon D5600 DSLR with AF-P DX 18-55mm VR Lens $849.15 (Price Match + Cash Back + JB Voucher + Bonus Coupon < $598)

Just got a D5600 DSLR with AF-P DX 18-55mm VR Lens for essentially $598.
here's how:
First get JB to match the HN Price of $798 (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/nikon-d5600-dslr-camera-withโ€ฆ)
you will get $100 JB Voucher for this camera from their Top Xmas Gifts Catalogue - page 12 (https://catalogue.jbhifi.com.au/2017/11/nov-30-xmas/) and get $100 cash back from Nikon for this camera.

you could also buy the JB hifi gift card and get $10 coupon for $100 or 5% discount gift card via Secure Parking (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/347684) to get even better deal, but i was happy with the Cash back and Voucher (-$200).

I got some excuses by a sale person from one of the store, so just walked to the next one and got the deal (luckily we got 3 store in Perth's CBD.

  • @Sevenofnine/OP, Great post, thank you ๐Ÿ‘
That's a Superb camera. I have it and love it.
Could you Please tell me how you get the $100 JB Voucher? Is there a link for it? As your link to it doesnt work.
And what item(s) it applies to?
Love to get the Canon M6 for a good price. Forever hopeful. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Looking for the M6 at a awesome price too.

If not, I think I'll have to get the M3.

      • @marka, I have the M, and my brother has the M3 and he loves it.
But the M6 has very significant improvements compared to the M3

        • +1

Yeah, I just sold my m10.

          Hoping to upgrade.

I actually prefer the M5 as it has the built in EVF, whereas the M6 doesn't. I guess it comes down to preference, the M6 is targeted towards vloggers.

        • @irajohn, Yes, if you want a viewfinder then either get the viewfinder add-on for the M/M3/M6 or get the M5 in the first place
I prefer the M/M3/M6 because they are physically smaller, and if I want a viewfinder then I use my other cameras
When I got the M, I thought I would find it very hard to adjust to not having a viewfinder, but my experience has taught me otherwise.

@KeenGeorge, The $100 JB voucher came through automatically when they put it through the checkout with the receipt, but you can confirm it first from their current catalogue "JB's Top Christmas Gifts Catalogue" you can view it online or at the store, the camera is on page 12, bottom left with the adv. $100 voucher. the Voucher is only on selected products, not sure if it is applied to the M6 or not.

      • @Sevenofnine, Thank you Very Much for the info ๐Ÿ‘

      • Is the voucher on the receipt? I would prefer it as cash.

        • It is a printed voucher, separated from the camera receipt

I have the D5500, and it's a nice camera, only upgrade for me would be more connectivity options with the D5600.

Cameras have almost become like smartphones …. new model every year with only incremental improvements which makes it hard to justify selling the old and buying new.

I still have canon 700d but switched to Nikon as they seem to offer more per $$ than canon does, or for same price seem to release the features a year earlier.

    • @garage sale, I was going to buy the D5500 but then the D5600 came out, so I bought it.
IMHO as you said, there are no significant upgrades at all, just marketing.

I only got the D5100 (and a FX) so this is a great upgrade, but I also wanted to try the new AF-P lens, apparently it is the best thing ever, according to KenRockwell.

      • The af-p lens focuses super quick, and is optically really sharp. Only Major issue with the 18-55 af-p is heavy vignetting that reaches deep into the photo.

  • Thanks for the post

For those with 2 x HN AMEX offer, find a $2 item at HN to make the total $800 and the camera will effectively be $498

    $798
    -2x$100 amex
    -$100 cashback
    =$498!

    • Psss…HN don't have stock :-) the sale person from JB was not too fuss about it, and gave me the deal.

      • Nice work!
I see the stores closest to me don't have it, but quite a few within 10km have it.

Damn I don't need the lense and I also can get gift cards for 6%. After selling my Nikon D3400 and a 18mm lense I should have only payed around $200. Ripper deal

@OP, Why has the OP title been changed to HN, when it was JB???
It was: "Nikon D5600 DSLR with AF-P DX 18-55mm VR Lens $849.15 (Price Match + Cash Back + JB Voucher + Bonus Coupon < $598)"
And now it is: "Nikon D5600 DSLR with AF-P DX 18-55mm VR Lens $849.15 @ Harvey Norman"

Dunno !!! Oz bargain updated it !!
Iโ€™ll change it back… thanks for pointing this out

      • @Sevenofnine, You should report this to a mod &/or admin

        • +1

  • Harvey Norman price is $898, 798 is after cashback.
