Amazon Reviews & Critic Pros/Cons Summary

General Impressions:
- Ease of Use: The camera is praised for its simple setup process and intuitive app. Installation is quick and suitable for people who aren’t technically inclined.
- Image Quality: Most users and reviewers mention the crispness of the 2K footage, showing clear images both day and night.
- Night Vision: Night vision is cited as excellent, with full-colour capability that surpasses many competitors.
- Smart Features: Reviewers appreciate the customizable motion zones, advanced alerts for people, vehicles, and packages, plus privacy controls in the app.
- Battery Life: The removable battery makes charging convenient; adding a solar panel offers nearly maintenance-free operation.

Critical Points:
- Cloud-Only Storage: There is no local storage—recorded footage requires a Ring cloud subscription. Without a subscription, only live view and alerts are available.
- Subscription Cost: Some users dislike having to pay extra for recorded video features.
- No Built-in Spotlight: Unlike some models, this unit isn’t equipped with a built-in spotlight, focusing instead on video capabilities.
- Audio Directionality: A few reviewers noted the speaker/mic is somewhat directional and may not pick up sound as well from off to the side.
- Battery Use: Advanced features may lead to quicker battery drain if the camera is triggered often or runs in busy locations.

Notable Quotes from Reviewers:
- "Clear video, easy setup, and great peace of mind. Highly recommend." ★★★★★
- "Super easy to set up well. Excellent night vision. AI video search is useful."
- "The only drawback is needing a subscription for cloud storage, but the features and clarity are worth it for me."

Summary Score: The camera averages 4.5–4.7/5 stars on Amazon, with most negative reviews related to subscription needs rather than hardware performance.

That's a deal breaker for me

FYI, Eufy 3C 4 Camera Kit Plus Home Base 3 @Bunnings for $899 is a good deal, it’s priced $1500 at GG, JB etc atm.

  • So much cheaper and more reliable to grab some cheap PoE cameras from AliExpress and set up your own NVR.

can you give link for cameras and nvr you recommend?

      • Just do a search for Keview or Asecam and most of them are in the $20-$50 range. They are ONVIF and have RTSP streams so can be used with any NVR software. I recommend a 'turret' style cam where possible as I find the image quality to be the best.

        • For NVR I have Frigate set up on my home server, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are good at tinkering and editing config files. A lot of people seem to recommend Blue Iris for most.
