  • Mech keyboards are overrated imho

    • +17

      It's a preference thing … I couldn't go back to membrane.

      • +1

yeah im using one myself .. a corsair as well .. its nothing special .. and the clicky click sound is annoying… and i apparently have the mx silent keys haha

        • +2

No offense if you can't stand the clicky sounds, than you probably shouldn't be using a mechanical keyboard.

        • -1

Ah yes, neg the guy for expressing his opinion. Stay classy mech keyboard enthusiasts..

        • -2

@TheContact: So us Mechanical KB users cannot have our own opinions?
I diliked his opinion so i disliked/neg voted his comment which his opinion was in.
Stop acting like it's an attack on the person.

        • i have an 15 year old mechanical key board with ps2 connector ….. no clicks sound ……. that days before mechanical was a big deal.

        • +2

@Axelstrife: The issue with neg voting is that it ends up hiding the comment. Have your own opinion, then express them by actually saying so.

So yeah, it is like an attack because you're attempting to suppress their voice.

        • @TheContact: A single dislike doesn't hide a comment, a high amount of negative votes does.
If the voting system was used as it was intended then there would be many dislike aswell as like.

People are too used to only likes like on facebook for example that they take any dislikes as an insult.

        • -1

@Axelstrife: A neg and no feedback doesn't help though.

      I couldn't disagree more 😊

I can forward the email to anyone interested in purchasing instore. Just drop me a pm.

    • Yeah man pass me a pm of the coupon please. Would real appreciate it:)) thanks!

      • Can't send you a PM, likely cause you just made the account.

  • This is meant to be a great keyboard. Pity I just got a new one a month or so ago.

Looks like the code is generic too.

  • Can you buy using 2x $100 JB gift cards?

    • I don't see why not.

      • I remember reading somewhere that you can't stack the gift cards.

        • +6

Gift card are treated like cash/EFTPOS card. I understand if coupon code don't stack, but gift card should.

        • @RichardL:
Otherwise, it should be included in one of those scam's list

    • Yep did this last year with the Logitech K90 RGB KB.
Great bit of gear. Bit overpriced, but with this coupon seems reasonable.

    • Yes you can.

    • You can. I recently bought something online with 5 x $10 coupons.

You might not be able to stack promotional gift cards (eg the current $100 get $10 free coupon.) Though, I could be wrong.

  • 92050817256

    • yeah as above.. we all got the same codes.

      • -3

        I didn't get any code

  • What is the price will show on the invoice? is it $329 and I can got TRS if I go oversea?

    • I highly doubt if you purchase it for the discounted price it will show you purchased it for the full price at $329. Worth a try though. ;)

    • It will show the price you paid which means no TRS.

  • whats the difference between BROWN and SPEED for these keyboards?

    • +2

Cherry MX Brown is a tactile switch with a bump at actuation (90% CERTAIN, CHECK YOURSELF).

Cherry MX Speed are similar to Cherry MX Red (smooth actuation, 45g force) but with shorter actuation distance: 1.5 vs 1.2 mm I believe. The marketing claims this is faster but it's a matter of 1 or 3 ms and makes no difference pretty much other than keys are easier to accidentally press. They're exclusively used for Corsair keyboards.

I'm using Cherry MX Speed on a Corsair K65 Rapidfire RGB and Cherry MX Red on a numberpad, they feel slightly smoother than Reds to me and have less travel distance going by feel.

      • Which one is more suit for gaming?

      • Cherry MX Brown is noisy as the reds?

        • +1

About the same, both are on the quieter side of mechanical keyboards.

          Blues are the loud ones.

    • Less talk, more action - I bought the Speed.

      $199 - $50 giftcard = $149

      we have a weeeiiiner!

    • I have Mx Speed and I tend to make alot of typos when typing. Not recommended if you want to type alot on it!

      • My main keyboard is a K70 Rapidfire (also on MX Speeds) and I don't have much issues with typing. I feel typing would be more comfortable on something with a tactile feel though, but I game a lot so I don't mind the tradeoff. I used to game on MX Blues and my fingers would actually get tired after a long session.

        • I have the same keyboard! I tend to double type letters or accidentally press wrong ones with that keyboard.. Might be my typing style.

  • Fantastic timing. Was just looking around for a decent keyboard as I just purchased the Dell tower JB have on special there as well.
    Cheers OP
ps. For those able to, don't forget to use your RACQ 6% off gift cards to add further value. Brings it down to $187.06

    • do you mind telling me how to use this?

      • If you are already a member you go to RACQ's site and create an account using your member card number and your details. Takes around 2 mins. Search for RACQ egift cards.
Once you have done that select JB Hi Fi and buy a gift card. You can specify it to exactly the cost amount of whatever you are looking to buy. Total cost will be 6% off the total gift card value. Pay for it and you can instantly use it and redeem it when checking out the item on JB's site. Just select to pay for it using a gift card.

        • oh okay, thanks for the info although im not a member

Not sure if I want to fork out such dollars to get better experience in pressing WASD keys and the occasional 1-5 to switch items in game. How many game actually take advantage of more than about 15 keys in tota? Flight simulator excluded. Also, all games are fairly well optimised for controller support anyways. But this is not the time and place for such statements. I understand. I must be one of the few PC gamers I guess that prefers controllers unless playing competitive fps online.

    • It also improves your overall typing experience. Buy it less for the "gaming" gimmick and more for the typing feel (and the RGB lights if you're into that).

      • Good point re the general typing experience purpose

    • I bought one in the hopes that will last a lot longer than the membrane ones that crap out after a year or two. :)

    • +1

      Depends on the game.

Like you said, with FPS kb/mouse rules. Also for RTS/MMOs/ARPGs it's just not possible to play properly on a controller.

RTS and MMO players in particular use a ton of different keys.

  • +1

I've got one of these. I'm typing on it right now!

It's pretty okay. I like my Das 4 more. It's well built. Switches are nice. Volume roller is brilliant. Keycaps are meh. Don't use the G keys, so thats annoying but whatever. It's probably worth $200, definitely not worth the $250-$300 people try and flog them for.

  • Awesome, thanks. Was pondering getting a new K70 RGB, so I picked up one of these with the MX Browns.

  • I have this with the Cherry MX Speed switches. Bought it about six months ago, and love it so far. Build quality feels/looks excellent. It's clicky, and if that particular noise bothers you, this keyboard is not for you. I've admittedly not done a huge amount of typing on it, and found that I had to retrain my brain to get used to these switches and keycaps (I type a lot at work, on a Topre Realforce, which has a softer feel, and is noticeably quieter). For general use and gaming, however, this would have to be the best keyboard I've owned. This is a decent price for it, but yeah, it's a lot of coin.

  • Uggghhh I sold my computer, but this is a great price for when I do eventually build another…

  • Damn…
    $15 cheaper…
Feel bad claiming another price protection at 28 degrees…
They accepted everything I sent them during black Friday.

  • Dang i just got k75 RGB mx speed for 160 on the last ebay sale. Was aiming to get this one but cheapest was 270…

should i get this and sell my k75… decision decision…

    • Not worth it unless you want to change switches.
Even then there are better keyboards for the same money you should be considering instead.

      • any recommendations? I'm after something with MX Brown switches

  • Is it expired tomorrow? Or 9th Dec? I need time to think purchase or not!

    • you have today and tomorrow from how I understand it.

  • What's so good about this board vs other mechanical ones? I'm using a Steelseries 6Gv2 but I have more money than sense right now

  • THANK YOU OP!
Been using my current K95 red switches, love the amazing quality but really not fond of the red's after 2 years. Continuously make typo's, and with the 18 macro G keys on my model, I often mistake it as the edge of the keyboard when gaming. Been looking for one of these or similar to go on sale, early Christmas present to me :)

    • So with the Brown you would make less typos compared to the Red/Speed?
I have the Razer Ultimate 2013 which I think are Reds, so the Brown should be softer? Does it get tiring typing on a Brown?

      • My brother has the Razer, with their "clicky" keys (version of Blues).
The typo's are purely my sense of actuation compared to membrane, and holding or bottoming out for too long I guess, or something, but on blue's I seem to type better. Browns are pretty much blues just no Click.

        • So the Brown are quieter?
Does the brown get tiring to type?

        • Noise is also another type of feedback

        • @congngo: They are than Blue (their tactile 'brother').
Have a look at this, has good GIF's to show the difference between the switches.

  • Thanks! picked mine up from the Liverpool store just then. =)

  • Can I purchase it on store and got the off or online only?

  • Great deal had been looking for a new keyboard for a while and was seriously considering the k70 which would have cost me $189 so $10 extra for the K95 when its cheapest retail price is $300 was a no brainer

  • I bought Corsair Straffe for work and its fantastic.

  • missed out :(

  • Me too
