  • I think you mean, the chances of it being a legit copy is pretty high being from Zing.

I can’t beleive the amount of counterfeit copies of this game that are being sold. It’s almost impossible to find a legit copy of this game

    • Yeah. Family here love the game though. Want to also get Bears Vs Babies, but suspect many of those out there are fake as well…. sigh…

This is why I have reserved my upvote. The photo on the Zing site is of the counterfeit product. I don’t know if they just used a Google Images search for a stock photo, or they took a photo of their own actual item.

I think that a lot of sellers have just been ordering these cards from suppliers in China, thinking that they are legit and getting caught out.

If you can stand this girls voice, there is a video about spotting counterfeit Exploding Kittens game.

        Other ways to tell from what I have researched is;

        • poor/low quality/low resolution printing.
        • no cut out in the side of the full game boxes.
        • no online game code card inside box.
        • printing not centred on playing cards.
        • colour on backs of cards will be different from each game box.
        • wording on the back of the boxes is different.
        • imploding kittens has a holographic sticker on the back.
        • genuine cards have a high quality playing card textured finish.
        • Well Zing is an EB games company/affiliate so i highly doubt they'll be selling counterfeit in their stores or online. But then again this is the first time i've heard of this game and you guys are definitely the experts :)

        • I would like to think that's the case, but I just have the feeling because of the rampant counterfeiting of these types of games, that even legitimate businesses may well be unwittingly caught up in it.

I guess if someone buys one, they can report back…

@pegaxs: zing buys from the Australian distributor. These are all good and legit.

        • My PayPal payment went to EB Games, so I'd be surprised if it was fake. That being said, I'll still check mine when it arrives, and will just return it if it's counterfeit.

        • @Third_Gear:

There is only one distributor of Exploding Kittens in Australia. VR Distribution based out of Adelaide. I believe they have an exclusive agreement with Breaking Games, the manufacturers. I'm am pretty sure EB games does buy from them, so they shouldn't be an issue.

Picked up both sets yesterday, based on the video and the above, definitely genuine. :)

@silvertone: Thanks for letting us know. I was pretty sure Zing would have been genuine.

I went to a very large and fairly well known board games type store on the weekend and they had Exploding Kittens there. Asked to look at it because it was behind a glass cabinet and every single copy they had in there was fake. The shop assistant didn’t really care and just said, "I just sell the games, I don’t order them…"

  • Wow I was wondering why game only cost 14 dollars on Ebay - and had all these reviews of average printing quality. Will be on the lookout when mine arrives.

  • only just played this game the other day at a friends xmas gathering
    heaps of fun
the expansion looks like it makes it even better

  • Sold Out

  • How much worse is the experience from a fake version?

    • The issue is with the quality of the cards. They tend to be just printed onto cardboard and wear quickly. Also the backs of the cards can be of different colour, this gives advantage to players if they know the next card out. I have heard also that the sizes from counterfeit cards can be quite random from pack to pack.

      • Fair enough. I heard about this game recently and am intrigued. Saw it cheap on eBay but I'll be cautious now.

  • Found it for slightly more at $30.89 but free shipping (code XMSH) from ozgameshop: https://www.ozgameshop.com/party-and-family-card-games/explo…

NSFW version is slightly cheaper at $29.89: https://www.ozgameshop.com/party-and-family-card-games/explo…

    • Code expired, shipping is only $2 and Zing is now out of stock online
