1050 ti is much better right?

1050ti is substantially better (particularly the 4gb GDDR5 models) however for light gaming the 1050 is still adequate and is a better deal than older 940mx or new MX150 nvidia laptop gpus.

This deals interestingly timed, Dell had the Inspiron 7000 Gaming model (same CPU but with 4GB 1050ti) available until yesterday for $1199 which would've been a better deal than the above if mid-range gaming was your target.

Not sure how warranty works for US purchased laptops, but I would shy away from any non-AU warranty on laptops over >500$. My experiences with warranty claims (and DOA) with Dell AU have been satisfactory, not sure I'd get the same deal with a grey import.

I think better options can be found on the Dell Factory Outlet (AU) provided you have the patience to deal with the procedure to find/get a machine :-) Lenovo have sharp pricing on an i7 model for $1189 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/347752 - looks like a great quality laptop spec-wise (the style is a personal choice i guess..)

    • The Lenovo is a good machine, but note that it's 1050 only has 2GB of VRAM, which makes a noticeable difference. If you can find similar with a 4GB 1050 for a similar price I'd suggest going with that.

  • Theoretically, if the 1050 is somewhat less powerful than the 1050ti, it should drain less battery so this laptop should have better battery life?

If you're on battery mode, the laptop will mostly use the integrated graphics instead, so battery life differences should be negligible
