  Have 3 Samsung TV of about 5 years of age and all have developed screen problems. All this in my holiday house that barely sees weekend use.

  Are there any brands more reliable?

    I second that. The edgelit LED start to fail one by one leaving dark patches on the screen. I bought mine 4 years ago, barely used it for 2 hours a day and now Samsung Service quotes for a new panel as they cant change the LED on the edge alone.

    I have Sony 4 years old, still running fine but app loading is frustrating slow. The newer Samsung has better picture quality but software is buggy. Can't trust anything written by Samsung dev team.

    If it was $1500 it would be worth it, but very close to OLED tech i dont know if its worth purchasing..
