The eBay "box damaged" + Sony wombo combo. Just lacks the triple whammy "refurbished"
The last deal is a seconds, this is box damage. There are exceptions but general understanding is seconds means customer returns and box damage are liquidated stock below cost.
I am assuming you are comparing two different things.
This isn't the first time Sony have sold "BOX DAMAGED" X90Ls on eBay, they do it all time. I think it's pretty unlikely that the OP does not know the difference between refurb and box damage.
Yet people will continue to spread false and misleading information on OzB that they're "BRAND NEW" and Sony are pretending the box is damaged to not upset retailers. I don't know who makes this shit up but it needs to stop.
Is OzBargain any different from any forums, Reddit, Quora, internet…MIS-information IS in more places that you think. Maybe store-afiliates live here?
Real-world-experience: ebay allows Sony-AU to remove negative-feedback.
If anyone question my-experience, demonstrate that you're genuine & NOT Sony/Ebay-afiliate & I'll provide proof, lol
Oh and Sony Phone and or Web support wont deal with you - only through ebay store as this is where it was purchased from….
Fast support through their ebay store though
bought the "box damaged" 55 version of this last year, and its been flawless. box had zero damage to it, as did the tv itself.
Ditto but the 65"
I bought the 75in a few months ago. Despite the specs being good the picture was terrible and the sound was even worse. It took nearly 3 weeks to arrive and they use a dodgy courier. I returned and bought a brand new samsung q70f and its like chalk and cheese.
Bought a cheaper model Sony refurb on ebay for $600 and it came like new. Couldn't spot a single mark anywhere that would imply it was used. The only give away was the box. Thought I'd share because there are plenty of negative experiences recorded on here as well.
Did notice this Sony KD75X85L (Seconds^) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/286318253955 which 5 sold out last week and 2 came back on today. Still a bit suss on buying from this sony ebay store after the bad reviews. Especially now that this set is 2023 old, the best case is that its a returned display stock item. But 120hz and FALD (only 24 zones)
Comes to $863.28 after the codes.
TECHY and SONYTVSEP15
Could be a good deal but also could be a tortureous experence.
Looking at the store feedback I wonder if these are just returns from last week or something
I tried one of these deals a couple years ago. TV arrived broken and unusable. Sony was ok to deal with, if a bit slow, and they eventually arranged a refund, but I wasn't about to try my luck a second time. Seems like it's pretty common to get broken items even though they say that it's only the package that's damaged, which is pretty crap of Sony to try to fob off and call it a sale. YMMV.
I've read and heard enough horror stories about Sony's "BOX DAMAGED" items to avoid like plague.
Just sharing my experience, got 75x90L refurb few months ago from one of the deal posted . The TV was practically spotless and no scratches.
I have recently ordered another one from Sony ebay and delivery company is ANC, same courier used by Samsung. I will update how my luck is this time once i recieve the tv 😂
Productreviews website is highly skewed as normally(My general assumption) consumers would review if they have not a good experience with certain company…
I can only speak for myself and ANC has delivered 5 big items over last 2 years to me, and my experience is good with them.
Where do they keep finding stock? This is a 2023 model.
Buyer Beware: Contrast, grey uniformity, black uniformity and reflections are very mediocre: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x90l-x90cl
You are much better off getting a 65" C7K which is going for ~$1,275 right now.
I own this particular TV and can’t speak for the Sony eBay store or the ‘box damaged’ category, but having owned the TV for a couple of years - and even paying full price at the time - I can say how happy I have been with the TV itself. For a mid range Full Array LED TV the picture, processor, brightness and even motion handling is fantastic. I’m sure you could get better one for more $$$’s but I have absolutely no complaints about the X90L. And at this discounted price I would say it’s a steal. But that’s just my opinion.
Old stock returned to HQ by retailers?
Yep, I am almost certain these are returned stock (also known as T1). They are resold sight unseen, that's why the feedback varies. I used to work for a TV manufacturer for several years and this is exactly where our T1 stock came from.
I also grabbed the 75" from this last deal. Came to about $1230 delivered (from memory). TV was in perfect condition. Still had all the protective plastic on screen and bezels.
I did not have a good experience with a box-damaged order. The delivery partner, upon picking up the unit from the warehouse, noticed damage and cancelled the delivery. The delivery agent was kind enough to send me photos of the box. When I informed Sony about this, they advised me to proceed with the delivery as the damage was within their parameters and stated that the unit had been inspected by Sony and was in perfect working condition. Later, Sony came back and said that the unit was damaged as indicated by the delivery agency and that they would issue a refund to me once the unit reached their headquarters warehouse
So in other words, Sony are deceptive and can't be trusted.
I’ve had two good experiences with this store- one was box damaged, another was a refurbished 2nd and no issues with delivery or the tv.
I actually don’t have a major issue with refurbished- have done with Apple Store on numerous occasions. My theory is it gets another quality check or maybe even diagnostics. maybe they find other issues while “refurbishing” and I still have new warranty. Of course dealing with warranty is always a pain, but can occur with brand new also
I got the 55 box damaged off eBay. Love it. Zero issues. Great tv.
Just a recent experience with the last deal of these = first delivery i recieved had a smashed screen, pickup from Sony was in 2 days and then replacement was sent out 2 weeks later - second arrived with thousands of dead pixels - Sony has orgainsed pickup for next week and said they will only offer a refund now (once they recieve the TV back) Just thought i would share my experience.
