Save USD $30.00 (17%) from the usual price. I thought I had missed out after the last Black Friday price drop, but it seems to have dropped again. Only with Remote though, the bundle with the game controller is NOT discounted at this time.

I plugged mine straight into the Xiaomi Power Strip

  • Probably a noob question, sorry in advance.
Would i be able to mirror from my Ipad without using built-in Chromecast? for example, local video files..

There are apps that support airplay but it runs like ass (Havent tested paid options)

  • Re the power adapter, we have had several over the years from eBay, but we really like the quality and firm connection we got using the Kmart travel adapter (For UK and US plus to Aussie), for just $5 ( http://www.kmart.com.au/product/adaptor---usa--uk-to-au-nz/7… ), anyway, has anyone else who picked up one of these new 2017 Shield players had the issue I am having with the remote being really annoying with lag? We got a unit that also comes with the games pad, and that game pad has no lag at all, and we can use that for playing movies like a remote too, but the new shield remote with button cell CR2032 batteries has some real lag issues, it becomes unresponsive regularly during use. We have never had any remote issues with out year old MiBox unit. Love the shield when it is playing, and does not kick out of resolution settings like our MiBox does, but that shield remote is a bit annoying.

    • I cant comment on the newer model (I own the older one) but I do know there are quite a number of firmware updates for the remote devices. I would try to see if you can factory reset the remote or upgrade to the latest version via the settings menu and see if it makes any difference. Also try whirlpool threads :)

    • I've read the same thing about the remote lagging. My Mi box, which I'm about to replace with a Shield TV is fine, so this will be disappointing.

      • I have the very latest Shield, and the remote and game pad have both been updated with the very latest firmware (There have been several firmware updates for the remote, and they have not fixed the lag). The remote for the MiBox3 I have is very responsive with that media player, I have tried a couple of suggestions found on whirlpool for getting the MiBox remote to pair (Bluetooth) with the shield player, and non of them worked for me, the shield just does not see the MiBox remote (Shame because the MiBox remote rocks for response, and I love having a power toggle button on the MiBox remote, you do not get any power toggle button with Shield, the "on" is by pressing any key on the new remote, the "off" is part of the GUI, select it on screen (Bottom right hand select for the sleep or reboot function). Nothing world ending really, but the new Shield remote control with its button cell non rechargeable batteries for the shield is just inferior all round. The media player is really amazing though (Love it).
