    20% off is still expensive

Yes, some things. I saw an inflatable pool item for $90 at Rebel… it was $20 at K-Mart

      • but kmart are charging the full price and rebel is n ow 20% off!!!

      • +1

The price at Rebel is… inflated…

    • I dare to say, truer words have ne’er been spoken

I purchased a Under Armor shirt from Rebel and then noticed it was $20 MORE expensive than the non-special RRP from Under Armor Australia. :(

    • -1

Pays to shop around and compare before you pull the trigger.
20% off is a good deal and although you are pissed, you can cancel the order with them and buy it from Under armor and revoke the Negative vote against a good deal.

    • +5

That's your own problem for not shopping around.

  • had some weights in the cart for the last week and was about to buy some gift cards..
20% discount applied already (must have already started)
    Thanks OP!

Poor pricing from Rebel not worth their constant and now almost desperate 20% offs.

Sportsdirect much better. Recent Puma, New Balance, Adidas deals were also way better.

    • They don't just sell shoes mate

      • -6

…sounds like you work there. Tell your boss to get real on prices.

          @Putnum:
Sounds like you are so used to MSY's dodgy practices that you will take anything thrown your way.

        • @hell0: Doubt it. I've bought literally 1 thing from MSY in the past few years and it was a $16 logitech mouse pad.

      • Neither do Puma, SD or Adidas. Amex deals for Rebel make it good

  • +12

Don't forget amex statement credits ($15 back from $60)

    • +1

reckon this should go on the title too.

  • +2

Noticed that most (if not all) prices have 20% off. Either the promotion has already started, or there's actually no way to get any further discounts.

    • +1

agree- for example Fit bit- http://www.rebelsport.com.au/Product/Fitbit-Alta-HR-Fitness-… has been discounted just over 20% (20.16%) to make it ineligible. May not be deliberate, but chances are it may be.

      • +1

Rebel's 20% off sales are almost always 20% off their listed Retail Price. There has only ever been on exception that I know of and that used a coupon. Thus the 20% wouldn't have been to 'make it ineligible' the 20% would be 'the sale', the 0.16% extra would likely be rounding.

Basically the sale is 'minimum 20% off, Excludes some Garmin/Fitbit/Elanation/Gift Cards' - Other descriptions are not accurate.

T's & C's (Yeah, it's kind of pointless that they say 'exlcuding those already discounted greater than 20%', because duh, the discount is off retail so if they were already discounted more only getting 20% off would be less…

        • Whatever mate. I didn't get the discount I wanted.

        • +1

          @southeasternculture: Ok. They're offering the discount they promised though… so… I mean… Yeah. Whatever…

      • Yep, was looking at some football boots which were discounted from 300 -> 240 just before the sale, but are now 239.99. 20.003% discount grr.

        • Guessing they were $299.99 * 0.8 = $239.992?

They were only ever going to be 20% OFF retail, so the sale on them is 1 more cent as they were already discounted 19.997%. I assume if they double discounted they would be selling below cost for many things.

20% is not a great sale for things that are regularly on sale, it's only worth it if the item is rarely discounted. Which um, used to be a thing, but apparently not anymore.

        • @Bargs:

30 mins before the sale the price was definitely 240.00 (down from exactly $300), so it seems deliberate that they've set it to just greater than 20% as the sale started…

        • @donnot: Why would they do that? Because if it was $300, $240 is already 20% off, and that would meet the terms of their sale without changing anything? There isn't any need for them to change it to be 'greater than 20% off'. Basically anything less than 20% off would be set to 20% pff RRP, and that's the sale. Anything greater than 20% off would be left alone. Anything exactly 20% off, still not changed.

        • @Bargs:

I don't quite understand…unless they're assuming retail price as full.

"Minimum 20% off the retail price of all products, excluding those already discounted greater than 20%."

Just before the sale had started (and in the days leading up to it), it was discounted from $300 to $240, representing a 20% discount which is eligible for the further discount as per the terms (60/300 == 20%). On commencement of the sale, it was then set to 299.99 down to 239.99, representing a (60/299.99 == 20.0007% > 20%) reduction. Because in this case the discount is greater than 20% rather than equal to, the further discount isn't applied.

        • @donnot: Minimum 20% off the retail price of all products

There was never going to be a greater than 20% discount off retail price added, ever.

The 'excluding those already discounted greater than 20%' is a superfluous comment (I'll give you it sounds misleading and could be interpreted the way you did if you ignore the 'retail price' in the first part of the sentence.). It's likely meant to indicate that products already discounted more than 20% would not be reduced in discount to only be 20% off retail. (eg, if there was a $300 product that was already on promotion for $150, the price wouldn't increase to be $240).

I'm sure the $300 to $299.99 retail price change was coincidental or misremembered.

If the price was still $300 the 20% off would only be $240. Even if it was already $240 from a retail price of $300. No products got double discounts applied. That's not how rebel's sales ever work.

  • -4

I dont get it - item i want shows 20% off price. I add it to cart and it reverts back to normal price in checkout.

    • Works for me, I don't understand the reason for your neg

      • -1

The reason is I search for my item, it comes up. It is listed as 20% off @ $80. When I go to checkout it reverts to $100. When I go to select paypal option it reverts to $80. When I go to last step within paypal itself it tries to charge $100. I've tried with VISA does same thing.

        • Have you tried a different browser or clearing your cookies? I just did a test order until the end and it's showing up as the 20% price all the way.

  • Some items don't have an 'add to cart' option even though i can see local stock available

    • because they would be sold out nearly everywhere and may only be able for c&c

      • I was trying to use C&C, and I had the item in my cart before 7pm but once it ticked over to the sale I couldn't add it.

  • $8 netti cycling jersey in small and medium, http://www.rebelsport.com.au/Product/Netti-Men-s-Event-Cycli… .

  • +1

The most ridiculous thing about Rebel is that if you have Rebel gift cards, you can only use one gift card per online transaction. No wonder they have more “online” than “in-store” promotions.

    • I'm sure it's just a technical limitation, don't know if still accurate, but years ago you used to be able to talk with customer service and get them combined for use online.

    • just head into a store and let them know, im sure theyd be able to merge them all onto the one for you to use, otherwise ring customer service

  • +2

why is it almost impossible to neg a deal? it is like ebay. everybody is reliable and flawless, every user has a 99.9 rating.

  • Still expensive though

  • Missed out on 20% off a Vivoactive 3; it was reduced but when I went to order an hour later it was back to full price. Appears as stock sells the offer drops off - he who hesitates pays full price.

  • +1

Watch it, many prices such as tennis racquets are already 20% more than anybody else.

  • Thanks!!

Bought a bunch of tennis gear.

Glad to get Slazenger Wimbledon balls at below $10 for a can of 4.

  • Unfortunately the already well priced Garmin forerunner 235 is not available on this offer! Harvey Norman has it for $1.00 less.
