  • as always quotes read spread not write speed for those who focus on recording stuff not just watching it.

  • Thanks OP, comes to USD $8.90 for me with the code :)

  • +3

$10 cheaper from 2 years ago.

    • I really like you put time into perspective.

  • I know nothing about memory prices, is this a good bargain?

    • +2

It's only a bargain if you need it

    • +1

Can be had at MSY for ~$19, so i'm grabbing one since i've been meaning to buy one anyway.

Having ordered several of these, please be aware they are NOT 80MB/s (write speed).
    32GB cards are 20MB/s and 64GB cards are 60MB/s.

    • so 64 gb seems to be the go if you are recording stuff and have a phone or camera that does better than 1080p.

      • +1

Not necessarily. If your phone or camera is recording 4K video in say 60 megabits per second (which is equivalent to 7.5 megabytes per second), then this card can handle it with its 20 megabytes per second write speed.

        • Also need to consider the fps of the 4K video. For 30fps it should be fine, but for 4k 60fps, it is still recommended to use a U3 card instead.

        • +1

@kungbernard: The fps and resolution doesn't matter. The bitrate is the only thing that matters. 4K60 on the GoPro Hero 6 for example, uses a 78Mbps bitrate which is 9.75MB/s.

Higher resolutions and frame rates generally mean higher bitrates, but not all the time. The GP6 without Protune only uses 60Mbps for 4K60, and the Panasonic GH5 can do 1080p24 at 100Mbps.

If cost isn't a concern then sure, get a higher-speed card. It'll be more future-proof if you ever intend to record high-bitrate video. But 4K video on consumer devices generally doesn't require expensive fast cards - that's just a marketing point to drive up sales of expensive cards.

    Thanks!

  • They are perfect for the XiaoFang camera, Thanks OP!

    • What's the maximum sd card these take?

      • +2

It is written as up to 64gb on the manual
But someone has been successfully work with 128gb (format in FAT32)

32GB will definitely have no issue

  • +3

Could a rep do a deal on the 64GB version of this card please???

  • +1

    Thanks OP, got one.

  • Can this be used in any phone?

    • +13

no. some phones don't have a micro sd slot.

  • +1

    Got one, thanks OP!

  • Any 16GB deal? My adapter only supports up to 16GB, thanks!

  • Just missed out. Looks like code expired

  • +1

Thanks got one for my new Xiaomi Xiaofang camera :)

  • Whoops too slow

    • +1

Get the 64GB one then, they seem to be three times faster. :)

      • Done.

        • is there an applicable code for the 64GB - this code doesn't work for the 64GB product - unless it's expired for both capacity cards :-O

  • +1

whats a good card for use with the Switch? Thinking 32gb - does it need to be particularly fast..?

    • There are games that require this size just for a single game, I would recommend 128GB minimum. eg. NBA 2K18 if downloaded from the eShop takes up 22.9GB and also a 6.8GB update patch, even if you have a physical copy.

      • +1

        thanks mate

  • Damn, did grocery shopping and missed this. Any chance of making more available?

  • The code expired :( so fast

  • Is the write speed of this card suitable for shooting at 1080p at 60fps - or better to go the 64gb card for it's superior performance?

    • +1

It depends on the bitrate used. If you're using it in a "standard" camera, it'll probably be around 30-50Mbps (3.75MB/s - 6.25MB/s), so it'll be perfectly suitable. You can even use it for 4K video at 60Mbps (7.5MB/s).

If you're using a high bitrate camera, you will know it and will know what card to get. :)

  • Missed out again :(

  • Missed. Can we have a rerun.

  • +1

Mine finally arrived today, via New Zealand Post!
Is that not a bit weird?

  • I bought a 64gb version for my Dashcam, it came today
Tests well at 80mb/s read and 60mb/sec write
