  • Hey, it is pretty good deal. Just wondering if I leave on 21st of December (at 3pm). Do you think it will arrive on time?

    • I ordered mine over a week in advance and they said that they shipped it out, but it didn't arrive. Be prepared to have to head over to the nearest Harvey Norman in NZ to pick up a card when you're there if you order from here.

  • Any deals going for plans with more data? I'm going to NZ in Jan and I won't be making calls or texting, just need data for everything.

    • +1

Voda NZ has a prepaid sim for $36 NZD that gives 4gb 50 mins talk and 50 sms.
I also think Voda NZ has a kiosk/shop at the airport too.

Grab a Skinny prepaid SIM from any grocery or electronics store and buy a $46 Combo [10 GB data & Unlimited NZ and Oz mins].2D & Voda are no good in the bush.

Don't buy these touristy SIM cards as they are a RIP off!

      • The Skinny version for this amount of data (1GB) is NZD 16 though, so it's a bit of a stretch to make that blanket statement. So value also then depends on data usage rate and destinations of the holiday.

        • For a new customer, the $16 Combo (renews every 28 days) gives you 1GB + 1.5GB (Bonus) until 31/01/18.They also have Freekends with 2GB free data every weekend for the first 3 months. So that's 9.5GB in the first month!

        • @hsran:

So I think that this deal would be pretty good value for a weekend trip and having access immediately upon landing. Previously I had a flight which landed out of retail hours and needed to get to a specific place… it was cutting it really fine with timing/getting lost. After finally getting to a Spark shop on the weekend, the wait time was 30 minutes just to buy a prepaid SIM and the salesperson wanted to convince me to turn on roaming instead!

The Skinny deals seem great if one is going to hang around for a while longer/burn through data/allergic to WiFi.

        • @octagonalman: All this was in the context of @greencomet planning to visit NZ in Jan.To get freekends you need to activate the SIM before 5/02/2018.

    • A lot of their phone boxes had free WiFi when I was in queenstown and Wanaka in July. Campermate app helps to find others (public library etc).

  • Hey Amanda,

If we run out of the 1GB, is there an option to recharge?

    Thanks!

  • Great card, got it for my last trip and it was fine. Sure in the middle of nowhere there wasn't a lot of signal for data but it was to be expected (I'm talking National Park here). Calls were good too. Will probably just get this deal again instead of recharging!

  • Grabbed a pair for my trip soon. Should be good to cover the gaps in wifi for a few weeks and keep me connected with the fiancee in case I get lost.

    • I got a shipment notification on the 19th of December. It should be in my mailbox today or tomorrow…

I'm hoping it is, otherwise I will have 2 useless sim cards when I get home from my holiday.

      • Came in the mail. Posted from Ultimo in Sydney (I think). fingers crossed that they work when we get over to NZ.

  • Got 2 for my recent trip to NZ. Really simple to use - just insert the SIM card and no activation needed. Fast 4G speeds where available

  • Don't expect to receive your order from this co. Still waiting after months, & they tell me they are resending - nothing arrives. Even if it does I wouldn't trust it to work. Avoid them.

  • @PortGirl - that's a bit worrying. I ordered two SIMs on Thursday morning, and got an "Your order is on the way" email that afternoon. However, when I click through to view my order, it just says "Your shipment is confirmed - We've accepted your order, and we're getting it ready. Come back to this page for updates on your shipment status."

I'm leaving in a week, so the 1-4 business day shipping would have given me at 2 days leeway (from when I ordered early on Thursday morning). Now I'm hoping the SIM is sent by Monday otherwise it'll be too late!!

    • Yep, I'm on the same boat. Ordered the night this deal got posted and no order updates at all - Very high chance it won't get shipped in time as I leave in a few days. I've requested them to cancel if they haven't already shipped it. I will have to raise PayPal dispute if they decide to drag or post it late.

      • Mine finally arrived - no tracking available. Hopefully yours comes soon too!

  • I shopped around for a while, this seems perfect for my wife and sons trip to NZ in Feb. I like the fact that it is ready to go when you arrive without having to go to a shop first.

  • Thanks, bought from you guys before, good to see this deal come back again. Just came back from NZ with a sim bought from the previous deal. Right now 2degrees have a data hunt promo (like Pokémon go) and collected about 1 GB in Queenstown and Chistchurch. Could’ve collected more easily.
