  • Is a shame, if you can get past the rediculous progression system and stupid microtransactions there is a semi-decent multiplayer shooter there.

They better not screw up Bad Company 3 though.

    • +27

They better not screw up Bad Company 3 though.

The only bad company is EA.

    • +5

What microtransactions are you referring to exactly

      • +1

You can buy points to unlock loot crates that give you a chance to unlock characters, or something along those lines. If you google the game and "microtransactions", I'm sure you'll find hundreds of articles online about the shitstorm this game has caused.

        • -3

Which basically describes every other game out there.

          But EA, Star Wars…. Omg….

        • I've had the game since release and they have ZERO microtransations, as they've turned them off and are still off.

        • @markebrown93: true. Still wouldn't argue it's a reason to buy the game now. Too much crap surrounding it.

        • +2

@swanny246: that's your call and I respect it. But to put out wrong facts that others may believe as true is wrong.

    • There's a bad company 3 coming out? I loved BC2

  • +28

    EA boycott!
    Down with microtransactions!
    Dont give them our money!
    etc

Man, I really wanted to play this game. But the hatred towards their business practises is so strong - i just can't do it.

    • +10

I've been done with EA for years now. Not sure why it's taking other people so long to reach the same conclusion.

      • +2

yeah, me too except Battlefield series that I appreciate

        • The BF campaigns were pretty awful though.

BF3 was the last EA game I purchased. I played BF4 campaign on a free weekend.

The only reason they even do a campaign is because CoD does it. Dice clearly aren't good at it.

There is nothing on the horizon from EA that tickles my fancy. I was interested in that Star Wars single player game that they "pivoted" the design of, but I'm unlikely to be interested now. The game they were originally making is exactly the kind of game I wanted.

Mass Effect got bad reviews and as a result the series is done. Dead Space is done.

They have nothing left that speaks to me.

I don't play multiplayer games, so BF and Medal of Honor are out. As is Anthem. I don't play Sports games either. The games I want are AAA single player experiences, and EA have decided they aren't going to make those anymore because they aren't profitable enough. So there's nothing left for me. They just joined Activision as a publisher that doesn't make games I want to play.

    • +2

Same dude, but if it makes you feel any better, ignoring the dodgy practices the game itself is pretty mediocre

    • -1

Be strong. Rewarded next game, with less/no microtransactions.

  • +2

Don't buy this peeps! We need this to be on EA Access by Feb!

    • +1

Bloody love EA access. Stopped me from buying EA games at release now even Fifa.

I must admit the trial was fun so looking forward to this in the vault

  • +5

$39 for base game. $100+ for the real game….

  • +13

I was in the cinema for the midnight release of SW: TLJ and an ad for this game came up, half the cinema was so angry about it lol

  • +9

    $39 to purchase the CD
    $20 to install
    $10 to select character

    • +7

$50 to put clothes on character

  • +2

Own you’re very own Starwars themed Online Gambling Casino!

They really just should give it away for free and rake in on the gambling dollars.

  • +4

There should be a way to allow OZB titles to say - Case and Compact Disc $39, Game thats playable $4 Million Dollars

  • +4

Grabs pop corn and reserves seat

  • +1

If you care about star wars or want to play a decent star wars game, then do not buy this game. It's a half assed attempt at a game with the star wars label slapped on it as a money grab. They invest no effort in it's production and do not care about the people that matter in the industry… the consumer.

The more we vote with our wallet the better games we will get. (profanity) EA

  • +9

Up to 40 hours grinding to unlock Vader, so for those reasons I'm out.

    • -4

You are wrong. You can get vader in less 10hrs

      • +4

        Wrong, kindly see below.

        https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7c6bjm…

Heroes cost credits in Battlefront II. With the average multiplayer match currently netting people somewhere between 250 and 350 for 10-15 minutes of play, the road to buying all of them appears like it will be a long one.

Luke and Vader are two of the most expensive heroes at 60,000 credits each, but even heroes like Leia and Chewbacca still cost 40,000.

Average Galactic Assault Match Length: 11:09
        Average Credits per Match: 275
Average Credits per Minute of Gameplay: 25.04
Gameplay Minutes Required to Earn a Trooper Crate (4000): 159.73
Gameplay Minutes Required to Unlock One Hero: 2,395.97

        • +6

All of those figures are old. They adjusted the costs of characters like vader on release down to 15000 credits. They have also upped the credits you get for matches by a lot.

        • +2

          @undefined:

Exactly. Haven't actually played the game obviously.

        • Nope, wrong. I've played the game since release and all the stats you quoted are off.

For a 10 minute match you can get 410 credits. This doesn't include challenges and upranking (1000 credits) - in fact, you can earn Vader in 5 hours if you're good.

    • -6

Rubbish. Five to six hours more like it which isn't too bad. Gives you something to work towards.

      • +1

        Rubbish. Kindly see above.

        • +1

Clearly you have not played it and going along with all the bs. Those heroes cost 15k now and you can easily score 400+ points a game which probably lasts around 15 mins on ave I would say. So 6 hrs nets you around 10k points. With the 1k bonus points you get each time when you rank up and all the points you get unlocking challenges you can easily rack up those 15k points within 6 or so hrs. Plus you also get points for SP and playing arcade etc. So not that bad at all.

        • You haven't played or you're rubbish at it cause he's right lol

        • +1

Come on man, you keep quoting that article which is more than a month old, will you st least acknowledge that EA have completely (temporarily) switched off ALL micro transactions since that Reddit thread was posted?

        • @silvertone:

When has facts got in the way of a good rant :)

        • That's incorrect. It may have been on release but your figures are now completely wrong.

        • @PVA: Completely? So they completely got rid of the grind for hours or pay extra cash progression mechanic?

        • @Mahogany Granger:
People ar saying it's a heap less points or around 5 hours of play instead of 40.

  • come on $19!

  • +2

This game will be GOTY (Garbage Of The Year) guys!!!

  • -8

Dont buy this cancer! Shame on you op for advertising this garbage

  • +1

If GT Sport can hit $29 so can this game.

    • Where?

      • JB HiFI. You’ll need a time machine though. It was last months Black Friday sale.

  • +1

Not sure why ppl are still negging this. The point has been made I think. New DLC is out as well today that too for free. An amazing game for mine hella fun.

    • Is the dlc good for single player too, or just multiplayer stuff?

      • +1

Haven't played the SP campaign yet champ but they have continued on with the story afaik. Probably best check on YT for user reviews. As for online multiplayer there's a new map which is pretty good plus Finn and Captain Phasma have been added to the heroes as well. Also I think they have fine tuned a few things here and there. All in all not bad.

        • +1

          Thanks mate.

  • -1

Been over a month since the game released and EA is still hush hush. No fix for the loot box system, no communication, no announcements.. This shows that the don't care about the game and all they care about is the $$.

  • +2

    Downvote for EA's deceptive practices.

  • +3

What’s with people giving us a negative on our negative comments. This game should rot out and be offered as only a SP game under games with gold.

    • EA shills out in force.

  • +4

On the off chance there’s angone left who doesn’t know why this is suddenly so cheap, do some Googling. It’s probably not a good gift for kids.

    • +3

Especially not when they will be asking for you to buy them loot boxes all the time, no bargain here.

  • +6

These negatives are stupid. Yeah we get it, the game is controversial. That doesn't warrant negatives.

    • +2

Exactly. Not all of us give a crap about multiplayer or we're happy enough to plod along with whatever toys are available to us.

The gaming nerds get all in a huff because their kill/death ratio might take a hit.

Guess what… It's a game, don't take it so seriously. You don't have to spend money in game if you don't want to.

"I want to be Darth Vader and I'm going to throw a fit if I can't get it now!!!".

      • +1

Spot on. I'd gladly stick to SP. I don't care for online play, especially against 12yo annoying kids.

        • If you care about single player you shouldn't be buying this either. It's well under 5 hours, mostly cutscenes and the AI might be the stupidest of any recent game

If you want a half decent SP star wars game, vote with your wallet and show them that a barebones SP doesn't cut it

Also, this entire controversy is not because gaming nerds are having a fit about KD ratio. It's about progression being tied to MTX (so people who paid up got extra gear) in a AAA, full price game

    • +1

Yes it does. The game is deceptive and has gambling within it.

      • +2

        Thanks for your negative :)

They removed the in game purchases with real money, what's your problem?

1000s of games have loot crates, it's normal now.

        • My problem is the publisher is deceptive. They should come out and say they f'd up and apologise. For these deceptive practices they deserve a negative.

        • @katz:

They've removed purchases with real money. What more can you ask for? So your gambling comment is flat out wrong.

And even if they were there, no one forces you to pay.

I've played Star Wars games with out having the ability to select Vader, I didn't care…

        • +2

@scuderiarmani: Yeah they’ll be adding that gambling back in. I wouldn’t go near this game with a ten foot pole.

        • @monkeynews:

Good for you. The 10 million plus expected sales will have to do for them.

Don't play any game with in game purchases, lemme know how that goes for you.

  • For obvious reason, game costs more in the end

    • -2

      How? With purchases they disabled?

      • Google it and find out

  • +6

    Feels bad for OP…

  • +2

You can get Battlefront 1 for like $2.50 on EA access on xbox one/pc, nothing stopping neg users to play that instead.
$39 dollars get you a 4-5 hour single player campaign and dumb multiplayer.

  • Funny some ppl going on about having to purchase this and that. Well since I've gotten the game a couple of weeks or so back purchases have actually been taken off. Plus they have reduced the cost of heroes to reasonable amounts and new DLC is available for FREE today. Also not at all difficult to level up if you are a decent enough player. Yes of course the backlash made sense when the game first came out but they have fixed most of it now. Clearly the ppl still negging and whining for the sake of it haven't actually played the game. To those who are still on the fence it's a great game for $39. Try it out for yourself don't listen to all the bs.

  • +3

Thought this was ozbargain not O$ripoff

  • Aside from the reduced microtransactions and loot boxes, which lots of games have anyway (Destiny, Dota2, CSGO, Overwatch, Battlefield One), the game plays and looks pretty good, even offering actual space battles which Call Of Duty Advance Warfare managed to fail

    ah well

  • +2

    How low can it go?
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    …Not as low as EA!

    • +1

When it hits sub $20 I'll think about it

  • +4

Bargain bin prices already — good to see. Suck it down, EA.

  • I'm a little drunk and feel like posting a message to you socialists too: This is capitalism at work. The market is telling EA they've gone too far, even though the game is technically far more brilliant than anything you'll ever see on a commie bread line :-)

  • +1

I love how heavily discounted this game is already. EA is scrambling.

  • +5

    The 💰 intent 💰 is 💰 to 💰 provide 💰 OzBargainers 💰 with 💰 a 💰 sense 💰 of 💰 pride 💰 and 💰 accomplishment 💰 for 💰 unlocking 💰 a 💰 cheaper 💰 price 💰 for 💰 the 💰 game.

  • Now learn from this pigheadedness and don't make the same mistake for Bad Company 3 PLEASE EA.

  • Ah, good. Now at a price for me to buy. Thanks.

  • +1

For $39….the single player campaign is pretty damn good looking and get you 7ish hours of game play so that works for me. Then sell it.

  • $39 is still pretty pricey. #EAsucks

  • I bought it but loot crates and micro transitions aside, the game lags so badly it is unplayable anyway… and I’m on 100Mb broadband with no issues across other multiplayer games. They won’t fix this broken piece of shit… Feels like I have wasted $39.

Don’t make the same mistake I did.
