They cant even get the quote right! I'd sue them too.

    • +2

Hoges has beaten you to it.

    • +2

      Maybe that's their legal loophole

  • Surely you would run it past with the legal department first

    • +2

not sure if you can copyright such a small quote ……. I think it's the other Dundee specific references and stuff they used around the quote that can be copyrighted…. so if they left the dundee stuff out and just had the quote they would have been ok.

      • LEGO rules, ok TM

      • +3

It is the actual quote they are fighting over (according to the news article I read yesterday at least).

Hogan claims they are trying to convey they are associated in some way with Croc Dundee or Hogan. Grill'd claims it is part of the lexicon.

Giving up the super stunner deal and going for a burger and beer for lunch tomorrow.

    • +2

same ….. burger and beer for lunch for me …..

  • +1

I have no idea why people like Grill'd burgers. They all taste of the same herb mayo.

    • +3

made with fresh meat not frozen unlike HJ or Maccas …… so it cooks differently and tastes different, but grilled can be pricey by the time you also get chips and drink ….. this offer you get free drink.

all the hipster burger chains don't seem to have combos …. guess the price would be bill shock on a menu.

      • +33

It comes in frozen. Ex restaurant manager here, we keep it in the freezer until we need it as well. Honestly the main thing the patties have over MCDS or HJ is they use chuck steak with a coarse grind.

      • you sir are delusional

        https://www.grilld.com.au/menu/simply-grilld
BEEF PATTIE (beef mince, relish (diced tomato (50%), sugar, onions, vinegar, tomato paste, herbs and spices, salt, thickener (1422), food acid (330), firming agent (509)), salt, parsley), TRADITIONAL BUN (water, wheat flour, wholemeal flour, wheat gluten, canola oil, iodised salt, sesame seeds, yeast), TOMATO, LETTUCE, RELISH (tomato (46%), sugar, water, onion, apple cider vinegar, modified starch, salt, tomato paste (0.5%), mustard seed, citric acid, spices), HERBED MAYO (canola oil, free range egg (13%), sugar, mustard, vinegar, herbs (1.5%), salt, natural flavour, lemon juice, citric acid, pectin, spices, natural colour), ONION.

        • Not sure if that means Beef Pattie: Only beef mince & The Sauce ie Relish: diced tomato etc. etc., or if the additional ingredients after the beef mince are also inside the pattie, probably in the sauce/relish I would say.

        • +1

@ozhunter68: There's relish in the pattie as well as outside from that ingredients list - the one inside has other things like thickener / firming agent. So unlike McDonalds the pattie isn't 100% beef. That said I think they taste better for it, I wouldn't make patties at home using just beef either.

On the other hand, if you're allergic to onions or something you can't get a beef patty @ Grill'd as they have onion in it.

      • LOL, fresh meat? Good goyim!

    • +16

Agreed. Way better options out there now. But we owe it to Grild for paving the way for better burger joints

    • +6

I'm not going to trust the taste preferences of someone who prefers burnt toast.

    • +11

Its a shame you are being downvoted because you are right. Their burgers all have a very similar sort of taste to them.

They are still nice, but way overpriced.

Anyone who thinks that Grilld burgers are fancy or gourmet need to actually go somewhere besides mcdonalds/hungry jacks/whatever cheap fast food place.

      • I think their burgers have give down hill. They used to taste heaps better

      • +1

my son prefers huxtaburger ….. to be 11 years old and all taste buds in tact ……..

        • Huxtaburger served me the worst burger I've ever eaten in my life.

    • The Wagyu Wunder has no mayo.

  • +5

Great marketing by Grill'd, making Paul Hogan look real un-Australian.

  • +6

Maybe they should start serving hoagies.

  • +4

Please don't bring a knife with you

    • +24

I was thinking of getting a free burger and cash register with my free drink.

      • I was thinking the same thing. This could go badly wrong for Grill'd attracting dodgies who carry knives.

        • I asked them today when I got my free beer. They said they hadn't seen any knives.

  • +8

What happens if I show them a spoon instead? Does that means they know I’ve played knifey spoony before?

  • -4

So will hogan will the court case? Probably not.

The tattoo artist who created Mike Tyson's facial tattoo, sued Warner Bros for depicting the same tattoo on actor Ed Helms' face in "The Hangover Part II and won. I think Hoge's has a good chance at wining (he took on the ATO in another matter…not sure who won that one).

    • +3

Different country eh? America's courts are famous for dodgy decisions like that.

I'm glad Australia is different and you can't sue your cafe because they didn't tell you that hot beverages are hot.

      • +14

I hope you're not referring to the Stella Liebeck case. The coffee that burned Stella Liebeck was dangerously hot – hot enough to cause third-degree burns, even through clothes, in three seconds. Liebeck endured third-degree burns over 16 percent of her body, including her inner thighs and genitals – the skin was burned away to the layers of muscle and fatty tissue. She had to be hospitalized for eight days, and she required skin grafts and other treatment. Her recovery lasted two years. The other fact is she did sue them she only asked for the cost the the medical treatment she needed and Maccas wouldn't even give her that. reaf the link if you need more detail.

The real story behind the McDonald’s hot coffee lawsuit

        • Couldn't be stressed enough the actual details of the story.

      • The case is famous because of the huge payout the victim received over what seems like common sense, and therefore the perception that in America you can get rich for ignoring common sense.

But it wasn't common sense, and the victim deserved the huge payout:

        To the common sense part:
McDonalds had set their coffee to be heated hotter than normal. Even hotter than other coffee places. There had been over 700 complaints to McDonalds (over 10 years), but they declined to lower it, until after this incident.

        To the huge payout:
All the victim wanted was her medical costs paid (which were quite extensive), but McDonalds declined. It was McDonalds who refused to give in, so the case eventually went to court, where the jury awarded her 2 days of McDonald's coffee takings, which amounted to a huge payout.

        Here's an excellent short video:

    • I think it might have been the ATO that took on Hogan. ;-p

Grill'd don't serve coffee …..always puzzled me so I avoid them as the choice there is ….. alcohol/fizzy drink/water

  • What do you guys recommend for good burger joints in Sydney? When my colleagues from Malaysia came here, they always asked to take them to Grill'd

Eat for free if you bring in an actual knife. Probably get arrested later, but at least you ate for free!

    • Then you get three square meals a day, and all the sex you can handle.
