Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) $50 [receipt scan]

90

Got a good deal on my GT5 preorder @ JB Hi-Fi Chatswood (Sydney) back in August and now that the game is out, scanned the receipt for a friend in VIC who successfully used it at a JB there.

The receipt on the left is the preorder/purchase receipt, and the one on the right is the pickup receipt. I've blanked out my name and the last 4 digits of my CC, but everything else is untouched.

NB: a receipt is not a guarantee, so I recommend talking to the salesman nicely (as opposed to charging in with guns blazing.) These receipts are all the proof that I can possibly provide, so sealing your own deal is up to you :)

  • Props.

Your receipt says "pricematch" on it, which store did you get jb to match?

      zavvi.com :)

      • Classic… how did that conversation go down?

        • Pretty well actually. I buttered up the salesman for a minute or two before trying to remember "zavvi" (which I saw on ozbargain a few days before) and I think out of sympathy of watching me struggle with "za… vazz… zaravi..??" he just disappeared for 5 minutes and came back and said "ok"

      • Good on you. Usually they are so cocky about online site price match.

      • LOL, are you serious? They matched an overseas online store? :D

        • hence the receipt scan so you don't have to try to do the same thing :)

        • +2

Haha the employee must've been new.

        • Even with a receipt other stores won't do it and will just say it was a mistake like Dick Smith did with the 32gb Touch posted a few weeks back.

Even if they're willing to do the PM they'll probs call that store to find out why it was so cheap.

        • Trance N Dance: the reason I posted this was because one of my friends DID manage to use the receipt for a price match. I waited until he succeeded before I posted this… or else I would have posted the scan back in August :)

  • well done mate, i ordered mine from dvd.co.uk for like 54 bucks delivered. would have loved to have tried this at my nearest JB coz i gotta wait for my GT5 to come from UK. wish i didnt know.

  • I got this for $53 delivered from Base.com.

    • I think the main point of these things is that we're talking about the Australian version (which might come in handy if they release any DLC in the future)

      • Aren't the PAL versions the same…?

        • Oh lol forgot about that. Was thinking about imports from America.

You can still get it for $77 @JB and $110 credit from EB. EB doing it for $92 plus the 20% extra.

    • When does the $96 trade in last till?

      • -1

No offical like COD Black Ops but the guy said today.

        • just called my local eb it's $92…

  • can anyone confirm that this works? So what do we do, print this out and show them the print out?

    • +1

      One possible method:

      1. print it out
      2. find a friendly salesman and chat a bit
      3. try to bargain GT5 down to $50
      4. if he refuses, suggest that your friend recommended his shop for a good deal, show receipt printout
      5. profit
  • Good work mate! Thanks for sharing this :D! Was thinking about importing it, now I can buy it here!

  • I went to the Chatswood store this afternoon and mentioned this deal, and produced the print out. He quickly said "oh yes, that's a scam that's going around online at the moment" and suggested me to buy it for $77. I guess it didn't work for me then…

    • bad luck :( did he actually look up the receipt number on the computer? or did he just blindly deny it?

      • I think they know about this website.
Probably head office sent a fax/memo to all the stores or something.

        • So there is a JB Hifi mole in OzBargain …

        • the fact that the receipt was found on ozbargain is irrelevant. i could have given my receipt to some random guy while i was walking out of the shop and it would still be the same.

    • +1

Did he say scan or scam, nothing wrong with a scan! just mach it JB dude!

    • lol he calls it a scam

  • Agreed chylid, I think the best move is to ask them to check the docket # in their system. I find it embarrassing enough to ask in the first place, but to then just be denied as it seems to have been the case for cranial, it's not cool JB!. I once got them to do me a really good price on a game (cant remember what), and the guy ahd to check with the manager and then he said "do me a favour and buy something else with it". I didn't but he still did the price:). alot of the times is who you deal with at JB.

  • doesnt work

  • No tried couple of stores including JBhi fi in Sydney city. All refused -saying they don't match receipts only catalogues. JB said they've had a memo about this and it was a pricing error and they can't match it.

  • GT5s are all sold out in stores around Sydney City anyway…

    just letting u guys know.

    cannington JB hifi WA

sold me gt5 collectors edition for $98.
i dont think he was allowed to give it to me at cost price xD

but $48 bucks more for a book, wallpaper theme and some cars isnt really worth it. but im a GT fan :)
