    Just got one! Thank you.

I've never owned a drone and I've wanted one for a while - so this is perfect :)

    • +3

Camera on it is absolutely terrible, but the drone is a lot of fun to muck around with. I didn't bother with the boat fixture much because you need a massive pool for it's turning circle.

      • +7

Agreed, camera quality is of something so old I think I could use an ebola meme, and turning circle almost puts it's Bluetooth out of range (not really, but it is pretty wide).

BUT, the drone itself, awesome, super super super fun! does barrel rolls and flips, you can "unlock" it in settings by setting speed to advanced, and then taking off height restrictions, and the little fella flys around.

You can get replacement blades on ebay cheap, just look under the minidrone name as they sell/sold it without the Hydrofoil.

      • I bought it for the camera use! :(

Let's see what it looks like :)

        • +3

oh mate. I'm sorry. It's beyond terrible. VGA resolution. No video. And very poor response (if I tried to take photos, I'd hit the capture button as many times as I could in the hopes it would actually take a photo).

But as I said - lots of fun to muck around with.

        • Not for the camera, i believe its only there for optical recognition to hold it in place since there is no GPS…

Still a fun thing to fly around, I just hate BT phone control.

I have the rolling spider which was a gift for way too much $, but at $29, I just picked this up!!

  • Would be grabbing one this time around! Thank you, TA!
Got to be on the lookout for a property with a pool ;)

  • +1

Doesnt hurt to get one more. Kids will love it.
    TA TA.

  • I have one of these - paid similar in a previous JB sale

Boat is okay but of limited use in an average backyard pool

Drone flies well but camera is not much use

  • +1

Got one thanks, now do i give it to my boy or keep it for myself…

    • +1

It depends on who your boy is !!

    • MVP right here!

    • Omg why wasn’t this posted months ago?! I purchased so much from jbhifi and Kogan not long.

Review says it’s worth about $200 normally why so cheap?

      • +2

You don't want to know, you wouldn't believe what Tightarse had to do to get that price.

      • Ignore the RRP. You can buy them on ebay for around $89. So saving of $60.

        • don't forget Cashrewards.

    • Anyone have any other recommendations for $30 deals? The code came through late and this deal is dead.

      • Lol that is inconveniently awkward, innit?

      • Did you get yours yet?????

  • Doubly error post*

  • +1

    That thing is so cool.

  • How does this drone compare to the Furibee F36 with regards to ease of flight/handling ?

    • I have 3 x F36's which I love and a parrot rolling spider (same drone as the hydro).

You can't really compare the two. F36 is more like an RC drone which you have to control. Flies superbly with the included tactile controller.

I fly these all the time, but the parrot sits unused. It flies more like a mavic in that you just tell it to go up/down left right, otherwise it will just hold position. Not very engaging but its definitely much more beginner friendly. I just hate the phone controls.

That said, I picked this up for this price to use in my cousins pool over christmas, haha.

At some point, I'm tempted to buy a flight controller and mod the parrots into proper RC devices using a normal controller (not phone).

  • So not a good drone if I want to use it for camera? (Roof space/Top of roof stuff to check)
Any decent camera el-cheapo drone out there?

    • Camera is a crappy gimmick.

      • Yeah, I think its more for position holding

        • +1

I think it's purey marketing - potential buys will think, "Oh, it's got a camera." not realising how fiddly and poor it is.

  • Link is dead.
    Was buying and died

    • +1

      RIP

    • still working for me atm…

      • +1

Was $29 on the web page but was $99 when it went into my cart .

      • It's a miracle.

    • Saved! It's a Christmas miracle!

  • +3

I'll buy it if only my 15% off gift cards would arrive (been waiting 5 hours)

  • Got this one of the last times it was posted.

    It's terrible.

    • Yep absolute rubbish.

  • +3

99 now. Congrats to those that got them.

  • +1

Damn it! I was in checkout entering the gift card and they changed the price.

    • +2

      Available again if you're quick

      • Thanks got 2 this time.

  • Price increased to $99 now.

  • Thanks, got one …

  • Thanks for posting.

Managed to grab 2 earlier, checked local stock first, they said nothing.
Next closest store is 85km away, stuff that.

Rang local Harvey Norman, they wanted to come close to the price but couldn't…were very helpful none the less.

Tried my luck anyways at my local JB and they had 2 sitting there, took several tries though to be put through the register…kept coming up as $99, but when the manually inputted the sku it came up as $29. I got different colours too

  • What happened was about to purchase it’s only 6:44pm?

  • Missed out.

Any chance for a re-negotiation TA?

    • +1

      Available again if you're quick.

      • +2

Got one with the jb voucher. Even better!
        Thanks :)

        • Awesome work.

  • +4

There's a reason it's $29. Owned one. It sucked. Good Luck.

    • +1

Lol . Alright for under 30 bucks tho.
Funniest/worst thing about these, is that they are clearly meant to go on water, yet the drone is NOT waterproof :/ WTF . And from what I have heard, they are bound to tip over at some time, in water, and drone ruined. Can waterproof drones (or attempt to waterproof) but the can of waterproof stuff costs $30 . Some stuff that is used for marine applications and repells water.

      • I've never attached the hydro foil part - went straight in the bin. But I did accidentally land the drone in a full sink of water in the kitchen. It was totally submerged. That was about 6 months ago and surprisingly it still works fine. I did torch it with the blow drier though.

      • I guess it was a little bit of fun, while it lasted - I'll concede that. But it was only about 4 charge cycles for me.

  • Melrose Park SA still has stock in-store. Bought one online and just picked it up, asked for another in-store and they scanned it as $99. Told them it should be $29 and they checked and put it through at $29 :)

  • Must have been an error. I was in the store yesterday looking at this and it was $49

  • This is just the flying part of the drone ?

    • Its comes with the flying part, and also the attchable hydrofoil (boat part) . It basically attaches in such a way and at such an angle, that its propelled along the water rather than taking flight.

  • +3

Available again as at 7am Wednesday. Also added the Minidrone Airborne Night at $29.

  • +2

Just grabbed one and also the MiniDrone airborne night for $29
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/drones-robotics/all-drones/parrot/…

Said there was stock available at Leichhardt but when I went through checkout would only give me the option of delivery, so it will be a late Santa arrival for my son

    • +1

Thanks for mentioning this. Just got one with free delivery. $29 delivered is a steal!

    • Managed to choose click and collect from Leichhardt just now. Strange that you couldn't. If you want by xmas you could try again perhaps?

  • Minidrone night link is now dead

    • The Kmart ones I've seen don't have the same stability in the air. They seem to wobble around in the air. The Parrot drones hover above the ground and remain level without wobbling and in some circumstances try to avoid objects, particularly on take-off. Also, the Parrot is controlled via an app on your mobile device - no specialised controller, less batteries. It looks smaller too.

  • +2

Just got a JB e-mail for the $29 drones, better hurry before the masses get onto it!

  • Anyone recommend a cheap drone with good camera/records video for that price? Cheers

    • +1

no, they dont exist at this price point with good cameras.

    • Tell him he's dreaming.

  • +1

    So is this back available?

  • +1

Bought one, got free delivery too (applied automatically). Get in quick, don't think they'll last long.

  • +1

It's back! $25 (using gift card) isn't too bad for a crappy drone if it's fun.

  • I can't checkout, keeps saying the item in your cart has changed. Anyone having the same issue?

    • Yep, you could try changing stores if you're planning to pickup. I cant be arsed treking across the city tho :(

      • Yeah, I selected the Chadstone store and it was playing up so I changed to another and it went through.

  • got one

  • Thanks for the update. Just purchased 2.

  • What does these drones do though?

    • it's like asking - what does a remote controlled car do!? Nothing, it's just a bit of fun :)

  • +1

Bought Parrot Minidrone Airborne Night (Maclane). Free standard shipping

  • I bought one earlier when it was first posted. It's a lot of fun to fly around. Setup is super easy.

    Charge it
    Download app
    Connect via bluetooth
    Go go go.

You can use it without all the attachments, straight out of the box.

A lot of people ask what's the purpose - no real purpose, just fun to fly around.

    $29.00 - a lot of fun :)

  • I bought one when dick smith was closing for about $75. I thought it was bargain. Now it's only $29. I even only played less than 5 times.

  • Free postage for the air drone, not for the hydro

  • Just tried to by the MiniDrone airborne night but shipping no longer available
Click and collect said Indooroopilly (QLD) had stock but when I tried to make payment it kept failing saying my cart had changed

In the end I called JBHIFI Indooroopilly who said they have 20 come in this morning. Winning!!

  • Just set mine up. tempted to fly it around the workplace

  • I love OzBargain. Every Christmas I give my brother the same gift, a carton of beer. He has a pool so I got him the Hydrofoil. I know he'll love it…and it's cheaper than beer :)

    • Every year I give my brother a terry's chocolate orange, except I replace the chocolate with a real orange.

  • Whats the difference between the hydrofoil drone and the Airborne night aside from the boat fixture?

    • As far as I could tell, the Airborne night had adjustable LED lights, the hydrofoil does not. I say this as someone who was trying to work out which one to buy, not as someone who has any experience in drones :)

      • Also I believe the hydrofoil does not have the indoor bracket. I didn't come by one when opening mine up.

The actual mini drone inside is pretty much identical for both. The only thing is the lights. I bought the boat as I felt like I was getting more out of it.

        • Yeah think that's pretty much the difference between the two really. The Hydrofoil does have a higher RRP not that it matters very much in this case.

  • Ok thanks so Hydrofoil if you value the boat thing, or Airborne for the LED lights. Ok will get the Airborne as majority of time will be flying at backyard at night

  • Bought one for myself. I love it.
So bought three more as presents.
There are still 4-5 at Forest Hill, Victoria.

  • Picked up a night blaze as well while i was in store. Same price and plenty of stock.

    • Which store? Not on the web site anymore.
