Product information: https://sensibo.com/products/sensibo-sky

The Sensibo Sky allows you to take any supported 'dumb' Air Conditioner, and give it some real smarts.

You can control its features using the Sensibo app or website, or integrate it into your existing home automation platforms such as IFTTT, Amazon Echo, Google Assistant, or Homekit (Note: 3rd party platform required to use with Homekit). There's also an Open API you can use if you're a programming type and really want to see what you can do and track.

The smarts offered by the Sensibo Sky include:

  • Remote control: Using the Sensibo app, you can control the air conditioner from anywhere, be it just from the other room or from work. No more looking for the remote control.
  • 7-day scheduling: Sensibo lets you set as many schedules as you'd like. Turning on the heat as you wake up in the morning, cooling down the house before you arrive from work, and making sure the A/C is turned off when needed.
  • Turns on automatically: Sensibo turns on the A/C automatically before you arrival, welcoming you to a cool and comfortable environment.
  • Turns off when everybody leaves: Sensibo automatically detects when everybody left the house using the phone's geo-location and turns off the A/C automatically.
  • Filter cleaning reminders & alerts: Sensibo calculates the airflow intake of the A/C and alerts you when it's time to clean the filters. By cleaning your filters you can save 5%-15% on the AC energy costs and breathe fresh air again.
  • Monitor temperature & humidity: Sensibo has a built in temperature and humidity sensor, so you can always be in control. Prepare the house for your arrival, and make sure the humidity is just right for your family.

Broadlink blackbean can do similar for a lot less…
Not the filter alerts and temp sensing, but it can do other stuff as well, like control other IR devices.

    • The temp sensor is a great feature. If the house is cool enough you dont need to turn it on before getting home. This device also has feedback whether you've turned the air con on or not, the black bean can't do that either.

      Great price.

      Highly recommended.

    • The Sensibo can be used with Apple Home if you run the custom server from here.

I could be wrong but I don't think the Broadlink can be used for that.

Yeah, I've got the Broadlinks as well as Xiaomi temp sensors, all working with Home Assistant. I'd still appreciate the simplicity of this device, not to mention it can apparently tell if I've turned on the AC (according to ^ comment).

WiFi connected A/C comes std. with Fujitsu "B" series, sadly optional on the Mitsubishi Heavy Inds. [the better of the 2 Mitsubishi's]

  • Samsung ac have had this feature for years as standard and it works….Given enough patience.

  • I have these units and they work very well. Even the most obscure junky cunninghams airconditioner works.

  • but what's the different of this device compare to a broadlink mini 3, that is like $15-$25, which can also allow you to control your other devices via smart phone?

    • The short version, the Sensibo Sky is painless to setup. It will just works right out of the box with home automation platforms except Homekit. And the setup needed to get it working with Homekit will take most Homebridge users 5min or less (https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-sensibo-sky) once the device itself has gone through initial setup and firmware updates.

With the Broadlink Blackbean, you're going to spend a lot of time setting it up and configuring it with each device. And that's before we get to the significant amount of configuration needed to make it work with Homekit (demonstrated in part using the Broadlink RM plugin for Homebridge - https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-broadlink-rm).

  • Amazing customer support too, constantly updating app and web UI. Have 3 in my home.

Turns of when 'everybody leaves' … but knows this by tracking one phones location?

Just like the fridge light turns itself off when you shut the door but how do you really know.

      Schrödinger's fridge?

    • +1

Put a camera in the fridge recording and shut the door

  • Tried a Broadlink. Couldn't work it out. Then an AmbiClimate which sounds great, but didn't have either of my AC remotes in their database. Their support are great, but the AI of it is hopeless. I'll be interested to see if the Sensibo works.

  • For those that are interested, I bought two of these and the only thing I regret was not buying a third.
