  • Question: Do people still use VideoEzy/Blockbuster?

    • -8

I asked that last time there was a deal and got negged like crazy.
      Nobody rents dvds anymore.

    • +6

I sure do. The quality of Bluray movies in Full HD with Dolby ATMOS surround sound is hard to beat. On top of that are the special features contained on the discs (eg. Deleted scenes, alternate endings, gag reel, directors commentary, comedic short films, artwork/posters, etc).

Possibly more life in Blurays due to 4K, HDR, 3D.

      • How do these kiosks work? Make a payment in the machine, receive DVD, then return DVD in machine slot at a specific date/time?

        • +1

choose your movie, input email address for receipt, record your debit/credit card. Machine spits out your movie, and a pending transaction gets put on the purchase (or they may charge you the initial price at this time) after this point I'm not sure as I've never returned anything late. I'm guessing they either charge you late fees when you return it or continually each day up until you pay the maximum which I think is around $30ish dollars.

        • @Scaregdearimasu:

          love you thanks

      • Yeah the sound on Blu Rays is a big plus.

My receiver supports DTS-HD Master and Dolby TrueHD and I can actually tell the difference compared to 'regular' DTS and Dolby Digital (e.g. Netflix). The latter sounds a lot flatter.

Haven't tried Dolby Atmos or DTS X but am sure that's even better.

Yes. I'm addicted to these codes. Thank gawd for ozbargain. I get to see a lot of movies that I wouldn't otherwise see… good ones and plenty of crap ones too!

    • Yeah I do, rented two today (with the $10 credit code from earlier this month). Because they're free, and there's a kiosk just down the road where I do my shopping.

      Did I mention they're free?

    • Because you just asked the question and didnt make some stupid, smart ass, sarcastic comment - Yes.

The free movie code bargain comment section should be renamed Live. Die. Repeat, or Groundhog day. Same thing every time. So reasons why ?

      1. Bluray is king for quality. Every digital service I have ever used despite claiming HD 1080P does not look as good as Bluray
      2. Holy crap it's FREE + my local Video Ezy Kiosk is next to the only supermarket, butcher, baker, candle stick maker. Also 2 minutes from my house.
      3. NETFLIX does not have new releases.
      4. I dont torrent things (Do torrents still exist?)

And just in case you were asking about a bricks and mortar store - I could have sworn that the video store in the next suburb was Blockbuster but a quick Google shows the closest store to me is over 400KM away. So we have nothing.

      Q. Can you return a Video Ezy movie to any Kiosk ? I know you could with the Hoyts kiosk.
      A. Just noticed that someone asked that question below. YES you can return to any kiosk.

      • "YES you can return to any kiosk." just be careful as they sometimes are different models and the DVD holders won't work with each model.

  • +1

I've been to a kiosk, never a kisok.
I'm excited to try out one.

    • What if it was an EideoEzy instead of VideoEzy? Does that double your excitement?

  • Thanks! Works in Sydney.

  • Lots local store permanently closed :(

  • Thanks OP. No harm in grabbing a bluray

  • Never tried these kiosks before but my local video store (Civic Video at West Ryde) has closed.
Can I choose Bluray or DVD at these kiosks?
Can I return the disc to a different kiosk?

  • Yes
    Yes

  • Do these codes work on Hoyts Kiosks yet?

(FYI Video Ezy and Hoyts are merging soon).
