Background:
We’re always looking to what might come, instead of looking at what’s already happening right under our noses. Oscar and Oliver Lifestyle was born out of gazing into the future with a body in the present.

The challenge? Be unique without sacrificing high quality and maintaining a very reasonable price-point…We’re not here to break the bank!

All of our pieces are designed in Sydney & manufactured in our high-grade production factories.

We promise that our collections will push the boundaries on design, trends, styles and diversity. We don’t want to look like the rest, so why try to follow what they do.

We bridge the gap between class, style and affordability.

Now on a less serious note, give us a follow on Instagram and leave us some feedback, we always want to hear from the Oscar & Oliver Fam!

Negging due to major issue with vendor.

Even after 7 {months}(https://dig.whois.com.au/whois/oscarandoliver.com.au) prices exclude GST without any indication whatsoever in Associated OP's title, description, product pages and website. That is illegal and also extraordinary since the vendor is not currently registered for GST

Oscar & Oliver watches feature the lowest specs I have ever encountered for the pre-discount $150.00 + 10% GST = $165.00. It is unsurprising the entire website features a total of zero reviews.

They should be careful or Ozbargain and "OscarandOliver" will turn up on the first page of a Google search…

I'm thinking of naming my a new minimalist timepiece line BD & SM, so when it goes on Instagram it will become #BDSMLife

Now that, my friend, is original.

    • Great. Mine will be named Stark Naked, signed only on the side and back. The dial will feature just an hour hand with a naked arse at the end. The website will swear I designed it in the Lower Hunter NSW, inspired by the Solar System and the Great Barrier Reef. And tears and laughter and travelling etc.

      • +2

Here's a beautiful shot of my arse on holiday you could use.

        • I would use that. A fine contrast to minimalism.

        • +2

@PJC: Ha! Maximum arse! Took me a second…

    Just passing the handbook along.

    • +1

The handbook should read: "DO NOT POST ON OZBARGAIN!"

    • Co-designing my future products. Somebody on Alibaba should be able to knock them out for about $2.80 per unit. The website's advertorial puff will communicate "based in Australia so gimme gimme gimme!" Which is of course unique.

    • We promise that our collections will push the boundaries on design, trends, styles and diversity.

They did promise.. The next watch won't have any hands at all :)

  • +3

Once order is placed, we do not offer a change of product.

    Then..

    EXCHANGES
If you have chosen the wrong size, please email us at [email protected] with your order number and details

    Then..

You can return any full price item within 28 days of purchase for an e-Gift Card
All returns will automatically be issued an e-Gift Card that will allow you to purchase a different item or the same item in a different size

    As clear as mud..

    I like this part best..

We promise that our collections will push the boundaries on design, trends, styles and diversity.

Aside from all of that, selling cheap stuff at a high markup probably doesn't qualify. I wouldn't ever order from a new company with no refund policy since it may arrive and transpire to be pretty poor..

    • +1

Oh.. there is a 4th ambiguity regarding returns.. So perhaps they allow returns after all..

8.2 Upon receiving and inspection of your return, we will contact you about next steps. Once determined the return is in compliance with clause 8.1, we will, at your request,
      (a) refund the Price of the Product returned to your original payment method;
      or
      (b) exchange the Product for another.

      And a 5th..

f delivery or collection is delayed through your unreasonable refusal to accept delivery…..in which case we will refund to you or your credit or debit card company as applicable any money paid to us, less our reasonable administration charges (including for attempting to deliver and then returning the product, and any storage fees as provided for above).

No idea what the storage charge can be for though :)

Here is a crappy term that they threw in which cannot be legal..
4.6 Unless otherwise specified by you, all risk in the product shall pass to you upon delivery. If delivery is delayed, risk shall pass at the date when delivery would have occurred. From the time when risk passes to you, we will not be liable for loss or destruction of the product.

Steer clear; there is no bargain here.

Ouch,, it was 30% off for cyber Monday.. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bb_JCxyAlWe/

    • Well spotted. The GST shock is also undisclosed there. I can't imagine why they still have 197 and 200 [left.]https://www.oscarandoliver.com.au/product/classic-white/ Reducing the discount for Australia's largest buying community is not encouraging.

  • Be unique without sacrificing high quality and maintaining a very reasonable price-point…

$150.00 - 15% = $127.50 + 10% GST = $140.25 Shipped for a Chinese watch with Japanese movement and leather band. No information about the metal used, the window (so it won't be Sapphire Crystal) the leather or which Japanese movement. Click on DESCRIPTION and it helpfully reveals 'DESCRIPTION'.

You have to add gst on top afterwards? Seriously?

To be honest I like the owner for giving it a go but selling it as something better than it is. PS I wouldn't buy anything with Life at the end. It just makes it sound like multi level marketing BS

      • Yes, prices on the watch product pages are pre-GST and you don't find that out until you have added to Cart, and the ABN shows 'Not currently registered for GST'.

  • I sincerely thank you all for your comments and I will be sure to pass them on to the owner for rectification.

Chris the owner is an associate I worked with on a project and I have purchased the caps online and accept it is weird to have the gst added afterwards.

Either way please shut down the post and hopefully once all concerns are address he can offer a ozbargain only offer.

    Merry Christmas to all.

These are overpriced basic quartz fashion watches from China. For this kind of money or less you can buy something that you can wear swimming from a reputable watch making brand like Seiko (Orient) Citizen & Casio.

It appears the owner found this guide & followed it almost step by step -
How to create a unique/successful minimalist watchbrand

    Neg.

    • +2

      Hahahahahahahahahaha..

I know the owner is called Chris and went for an unrelated name but that is highly amusing.
Essentially this shows just how unoriginal this is, despite the pretence to the contrary.
      I'd plus 10 if I could.

If you liked that article then you will like this one on the overpriced fashion brand, Daniel Wellington -
How Did Daniel Wellington Get So Popular And Why I Will Never Buy One

This is relevant because DW are probably the reason why there are so many new start up brands trying to copy their exact business plan & take a slice of the market.

Now this is a design which is unique..and took me 20 seconds to find.. Similar price.

          https://www.watches.com/nava-tempo-libero-black-42mm

Actually, you can get 1 for 150 or 2 for 200 of the watch from the OP so yes the markup is pretty big.

        • @smashed: That reminds me of an Alfex I nearly bid on at eBay until I realised the cutting-edge design (they really have won design awards) featured a minute hand broken off.

You should always buy what you like, but that's not something I would recommend.
If you want to learn more about watches, you should visit Watchuseek Affordables

As a comparison of what you can buy from a reputable watch making brand -
          Orient Automatic ER27006B $106.00 - $5.30 = $100.70 shipped
          Citizen Eco-Drive AW1360-04E $131.00 - $6.65 = $124.45 shipped

          @WatchNerd:

I have a phone so I wouldn't ever buy a watch to be honest.
I have been interested in a smart watch for ages , but I don't want it to be too big and I know that they are obsolete very quickly.

My friend has some very expensive watches etc (eg 10k) and although I can appreciate the beauty, I wouldn't splash the cash on it.

I don't have a problem with Chinese watches. However, these are extremely generic and spec wise the price is absolutely horrendous. Also, why the hell would you discount the the watch and then add the GST on. That's not how retail works. Very shady and deceptive.
