Main issue I can see is it are either connectivity issues but that isn't very visible or what is visible which would be the rail mechanism. Due to it being plastic(joycon) on metal(switch console) it can definitely wear down over normal usage and anytime the joycons are forced out of the Switch without pressing down the release button securely.
Those are the only 2 issues I'd imagine the joycons would have, especially pre-owned. At the moment, the first issue can be resolved by Nintendo putting conductive foam or something on the inside while the second you can replace the hard plastic either by getting it 3d-printed and switched out. You can buy metal replacements but metal sliding on metal doesn't sound too longterm imo.
The main issue has been connectivity of the left joycon. There’s a section in the settings for testing input so you could use that otherwise just use them and you’ll notice soon enough. Replaced one myself after it became clear playing Mario Kart that the controller had the issue as you’d go straight on corners. Nintendo will repair them for free if needed and if you go back in a reasonable time EB should swap them too.
Don’t think there’s any visible way to tell if they’d be impacted but.
How is this a bargain? I would happily pay an extra $12 to get a new one instead of some used cheetohs dust covered controller with no packaging.

They are pre owned… Anyone know how to tell your joy cons are stuffed? Don't they have issues?
