  • Good find OP, how do these sound compared to the 599?

    • +1

Here’s a pretty good comparison of the 5 series.

  • Massdrop HD650 drop is still on, will end in 8 hrs, still 215 USD delivered, start shipping end of march 2018.

    • Link to deal? Is it this one called HD6XX ?

      • They are so good.

        • They're not lookers though. That's something Senn isn't good at.

        • @lostn:

          I couldn't care less.

    • Yep, but you need an amp with the 600/650’s. These are 50 ohm, so while an amp would definitely improve things, most smartphones and music players will drive these ok.

So you've got to wait another 3 full months before it even leaves the warehouse. Gee you would want to be extremely keen on that.

      • I waited 6 months for mine. Absolutely worth it. They are phenomenal.

        • What do you listen to with them, mainly? Music (genre?), gaming, or movies?

        • @lostn:

Music. U2 lately. Listen to heaps of stuff. Soundtracks to metal.

    • Or, … Sennheiser 58X at US$50 less for users without headphone amplifier.

      • You’ll still need an amp to properly drive these - they’re 150 ohm’s.

        • .. need .. properly ..

Opinion or statement? 58X has same impedance as 660S which Verge claims "Should your smartphone still have a headphone jack, Sennheiser believes it will be able to power its new cans."

        • @AlexF: lol, The Verge and headphones. It’s a statement from a headphone enthusiast with a basic knowledge. There’s a couple of exceptions (LG G and V series), but 95% of smartphones won’t sufficiently drive 150 ohms. They’ll work, sure. But you won’t be getting anywhere near the full potential.

          @aja12:

          They’ll work, sure.

Work more than good enough. You can't say that about 600, 650 or 6XX at 2x impedance.

        • @AlexF: Won’t work well enough for anyone that knows what they’re listening to. Will sound fine to anyone that isn’t that into their audio or doesn’t know what they’re on about. I’m not arguing, if you think most phones will properly drive these sort of headphones, you have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s not to say they’re not excellent headphones (nobody knows yet, but I’m sure they will be), but if you’re not going to properly drive them, and most smartphones won’t, you’re completely underutilising them.

  • Senn makes so many headphones that look almost identical, it's so confusing.

    • Yes they are like Samsung of the headphone industry.
