NBN Outrage since 20th Dec with amaysim

I connected to NBN last month via AMAYSIM.
Live in Eastern suburb (Melbourne).
Disconnected same time of big storm.
Lodge complaint to AMAYSIME 20.12 @6pm.
NBN Tech visited 22/12 8am
No news since then. Still line testing not done.

On 25/12 evening
50GB internet via 4G (Amaysim) offered with no further recharge. Used 15GB on first day now stopped using it.

I am not hoping NBN back on till next 10-15 days.

What should I do? Ombudsmen?

  • "Used 15GB on first day now stopped using it."
Were you doing anything that would incur high data usage? Watching movies?
Windows Update maybe? Change your windows settings to only update over LAN not mobile data.

NBNco uses contractors to fulfill their requests for line repairs. If the contractors are taking a break, they may very well delay it until the New Year's are over and are back from vacation.

I guess the only way that Amaysim can help you to their best ability is to offer you 4G data to cover the downtime — just keep pestering them for more data, perhaps?

    • You're on the money. NBN told me just before Christmas that they're not doing any work they consider not to be critical until after New Year.

  • 15gb a day … lol

how many ppl in your house ? all streaming different 4k videos ?

why lol? too high? too low? i reckon it's normal

      • i don't understand how you can download that much unless you are downloading a TV show or something

Easy to use 15GB/day legitimately. My PS4 regularly downloads patches for games that are ~15GB.

We do about 30-50gb a day, what's your point?

    • +2

lol Some people actually use there internet.

Downloading 300GB right now of TV shows.
      A normal PC/console game is 50-100GB.
I downloaded Supernatural a few weeks ago which was 1.3TB

This is just me not anyone else here using netflix or something it's really easy to use data.

A single 4K stream can use over 11GB/hour. You don’t need to be a large household.

And game consoles are a huge one. During last years PSN sale I bought 4 games digitally. DOOM alone was over 110GB once it downloaded game+patch. That was a 250GB day.

      15gb a day is nothing.

  • We average 15gb a day in our house hold. Nothing odd there.

  • +2

our family used to share 15GB/month, surely you could manage for the next 10 days.

    • +3

Ahhhh. The old telstra 15gb/month wireless broadband plan for $115. I don't miss those days.

  • I'm assuming you are not paying for your nbn during this time?

I'd be going to A Current Affair.

Might be a long wait… there's only about 24 million other people who have issues with NBN! :p

Wonder where you got that number from. NBN has got only 3 Million activations now and 24 million is not even in the horizon.

24 million = the approx population of Australia.

NBN has got only 3 Million activations now

Well, there's this thing called sharing and it usually happens when people like families or friends live under the same roof.

and 24 million is not even in the horizon.

Glad NBNCo planners at least got this one right by not expecting everyone to be getting their own connection.
