PETBUYS

Medibank and Flybuys are currently offering 15,000 Flybuys Points if you sign up for a Medibank Pet Insurance policy. You will also get 10% off your Pet Insurance premiums for the life of the policy if you are already a Medibank health member. Just enter or mention the code "PETBUYS" and the same email address you have associated with your Flybuys account when signing up.

15,000 Flybuys Points = $75.00 to spend at Coles = 6525 Velocity Points (when transferred during non-bonus periods) = 7500 Velocity Points (when transferred during 15% bonus periods)

Your Medibank Pet Insurance Policy must be current for 3 months and not be in arrears of any outstanding premium before Flybuys will deposit the 15,000 points into your account and each policy can only be linked to one Flybuys account.

Please do your research when considering taking out pet insurance, because some policies may not be the best value of money for your circumstances, and you may be better off not taking out insurance at all in some cases.

This offer may be preferred for existing Medibank Health members who want 15% off their first year instead.

What's the cheapest policy to cancel after 3 mounts?

    • +2

I wouldn’t be cancelling. It could be a difficult pregnancy/ birth

Both of you stop horsing around.

  • My experience with Medibank pet Insurance wasn’t great. They increase the premiums significantly each year, even though we had no claims. We were kind of trapped with a 10+ year old dog, so weren’t able to move to another provider. The little bugger lived another 8 years!!! That’s a lot of price hikes.
    So be warned…

My dog's premium did double since he joined, but I can understand… I'm so glad I kept paying for all those years. Hardly claimed anything in the first 11 years of my dog's life, but all changed suddenly in late October: he had seizures, after emergency and imaging and treatments, I maxed the $12,000 annual limit within 3 weeks. I still will be paying $10k out of pocket, much better than $22k though.
Comparing to PetPlan, the Medibank's online portal is much easier, just uploaded invoices and medical notes, the money was in my account within 3 days without any question.
Sounds like your dog had a rather healthy life! Trust me it's better not have to use the insurance :)

      • Yep - I’m totally with you on that one…
I would not go without insurance after similar previous experience.
My other dog was the reason this one was insured. Previously didn’t have insurance, and had a $16k bill after my staffy thought it would be fun to try digesting plastic bottles.
All that and he didn’t make it through to continue his quest for life threatening experiments.
Now I’m a committed pet insurance advocate, even though the increasing premiums drive me nuts.

          Sorry for your loss :(

Our furbabies are part of the family, I sat in the animal hospital with my dog for three days when my cat was sick, I came across so many animals and I could tell how important they were to their owners. Though I lost my cat I did feel easier of knowing both me and the hospital staffs did best we could, I'm sure you did the same for your staffy and he knew how much he was loved :)

Yes I would suggest other pet owners to take insurances. When things happen, we not only need to made so many critical decisions within such short time, but the stress and fear, and work, can't use personal leave, and get judged by spending so much on an animal etc… At least let insurance take care of the money problem.

Yes, it seems once they get over 10 the premiums become super ridiculous as they know you can't really sign up for a competitor. My dog's insurance premium costs almost as much as mine….not sure if I should continue with it or cancel it altogether as she is getting on now and I am not sure I would put through surgery at her age now….such a dilemma…

  • Interested for the velocity only. Tried for 5 minutes, cheapest i got is $27.42 per month using my "Dog" which is a Shih Tzu cross born 01/01/2015. Wonder if anyone can go lower :)

  • 10% off doesn't seem to apply (or is not working correctly).
Try this - get a quote with the code , then click back and remove code and move forward again - same price…

I got a quote with the code.. $20.86 - went back and removed the code and got quote again …. same price!
Unless their system is glitchy and stores the original code or something similar - will try and clear cookies and see what price I get

    • How did you get it down to $20.86?

      • +1

That's for the Essential Pet Care option. The Ultimate Pet Care = $32.80
Cavalier King Charles cross -3 yrs old
Tried a few more times - and also trued using other codes PET1217 and MEDIPET15 - its discounting by some margin but certainly not 15%

    • Try this - get a quote with the code , then click back and remove code and move forward again - same price…

I tried it the other way. Quote without the code then quote with the code. Same price.

      But OP does say

You will also get 10% off your Pet Insurance premiums for the life of the policy if you are already a Medibank health member.

      of which I am not.
