Don't worry haters gonna hate. Some fantastic deals in there, especially the 64gb ipad hmm..

      • +2

        "Don’t worry haters gonna hate"

Couldn't have said it better myself!

The Sony Bravia range look like good value….any way of comparing those prices?

        Specifically KDL55EX500† @ $1599.00 and KDL40EX600 @ $878.00

        • +1

are these deals just bonus 5% (i.e. 10% off) the sale price that us regular folk can get. or are staff getting special pricing to begin with

    • "are these deals just bonus 5% (i.e. 10% off) the sale price that us regular folk can get. or are staff getting special pricing to begin with"

As it says on the PDF: "Includes your 10% Staff Discount"

    • Apparently you need to mention that you are staff to get the extra 5% even though the flyer just says 'Simply present your staf f discount card at Dick Smith to receive these offers'. The checkout operator refused to process a refund.

  • 42" plasma for $435… its so clear which way prices are heading :-)

Can staff pick up wish gift cards (from elsewhere) using 5% staff discount? I have a source for 5% of wish cards myself (i'm not staff), which would mean taking a further 5% of these prices.

If you shop online, all that is needed is the Staff discount number. It says on the flyer:

    CAN’T GET INTO A STORE?
Shop online and receive 10% off all products. ^
Go to dicksmith.com.au/staffoffer for more details.
^ In store specials not available online, you must enter your staff discount card into the Everyday Rewards field
to be eligible for the 10% staff discount. Exclusive offers advertised in this brochure are not applicable online.

    • What about asking a price match from Good Guys or JB HI.

    • i see where you're going with this, someone can post their staff number. then we can all use it!

only problem is, i think they may have systems in place to match name/address to staff number. it may get processed but it gets flagged and the person gets questioned. It happened when i used to work at myer. The easiest way was to rock up in store and pay cash =)

      • i doubt their systems are that sophisticated… Merging DSE front end system with HR system sounds complicated

      • No chance that they match addresses. I worked at woolies for years. At first the system would accept any 6 digit code for a staff discount. After they upgraded to the Lenovo touchscreen systems it required the entire barcode number and it was easy enough to generate a report of the numbers used at a specific store. But that was not a daily procedure, I just liked poking around on the back office PC.

        • when you scan the card though, doesn't it show details of the staff including postcode and address( any incriminating evidence)

  • Can someone get me a 1 day job at Woolies? =)

    • dont think you could get a staff discount card from day 1 :)

      • +10

        Barney: Challenge accepted.

    • You only get the Staff Discount Card after your probationary period expires (typically 3 months).

    NFS hot pursuit $39??

    that is too cool

  • -1

Can I buy the NFS hot pursuit for 39+0.1*39=42.9 for non staff member?

    • Doubt it. It says 10% off storewide but it seems like the game is 55.6% off (save $49).

    • Maths fail. It should be (39 / 90) * 100 = 43.3333333

      • +2

Umm, maths fail for you. The game without discount is $88. With discount it's $39. Therefore, [(88-39)/88]*100 = 55.68% off. Right?

        • not. original price 88, we save 49 (49 discount), discount percentage should be (49/88 )*100 %

        • @gstfree yeah exactly, thats wat slix_88 said, 88-39 = 49 last time I checked…

      • +1

I think he was calculating non-staff price!

        • +1

          Yes I was….And I was referring to infinity1101 not slix_88 =)

  • Got some seriously good bargains for myself, family and friends last year and will be doing it again this year.
Don't forget that you can use the salary sacrifice thing to get your purchases even cheaper, so do look into it.

  • Damn, I am a Cole's staff member.

All the discounted electronic stuff I can get is from target, kmart or officework. Nothing comparing to this

    • It's 10% off at Coles for the month of December. This can add up to some big savings.

      • staff are getting 10% off for a whole month?

        • yep double discount, they did the same thing last year.

      • do you know if its 10% off all Coles brands (including Officeworks and etc.), I've got no notice from my store

        • It's just coles and bilo and some unknown brand to me..
Target, officeworks, kmart are obviously not included.

  • "30% off Logitech (excluding Ultimate Ears)"

PLEASE tell me that includes the Logitech G27!!!!

    • I guess, if you can find one in stock

      • What's their original price? $499?

As for stock, it doesn't worry me too much. I'll just pay for it at the counter and wait for it to come in stock.

  • +1

          How can I email you?

          Many thanks

  • A good friend worked for dick smith before woolies bought them out… You would never believe the discounts he used to get when it was privately owned.

    • I remember the discounts =)

  • +1

That MBP is cheaper than refurb. WOW!!! Nice

  • Does anybody know if the 10% applies to other stores owned by Woolworths e.g Big W, BWS, etc?

    • +1

It's just Dick Smith, BigW had there 10% off a few weeks ago.

  • +4

    • Hi Ignition, that's very kind of ya. Would love to get the WDTV HD Live Media Player. You might want to set up a meeting for everyone here in Sydney. Please email us your suitable time and place, we'll go clean up Dick Smith.

  • I would love to help but value my job :P

  • For those who can't get the discount, just simply negotiate and expose that such low prices can be done. Wow, dse already make heaps of profit from their listed prices.

  • Any Dick Smith/Woolworths staff in Adel going to buy and like to share the love? :)

  • +3

I'm in Melbourne and happy to help out a few people - work in cbd and live in eastern suburbs.
    I've enabled emails, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/10099/contact

    • Awesome, email sent!

    • Another email sent! Cheers mate!

      • I've received a few emails and will be replying to you tomorrow morning (gmail is blocked at work and going out tonight).

I'll only be doing this for those that can meet up at my local store, so for those that have emailed me just for my staff number, please don't expect a response.
        Cheers

        • +1

as a senior current woolies manager i can tell you they watch over use on these cards, so go racking up half doz ipads etc on your card and it will be flagged and you will be questioned by your HR. I don't really care what you do, just saying beware is all…have a good one

  • are you serious?

Tomtom XXL 540 for 150 dola?

im so getting it thru my friend if its true !

  • Who's in Perth? I'm keen on getting an iPad! :)

  • +3

im in sydney and a staff member

    • You're about to become incredibly popular on ozbargain lol

Could I pretty please utilize your DSE staff memberage to avail myself of these wonderful prices - happy to drive out to a convenient location to u to do so. Thanks :)

    • That's awesome of you to let everyone know!

I'd be interested in taking advantage of your staff membership if you are willing to help out a Sydney sider too.

  • Sweet!
    Getting Hot Pursuit and Brotherhood.
I want the Tomtom too… But the XXL is huge.

Also I don't think it was a good idea to post these prices here… You could get in heaps of trouble… Leaving prices like this in the hands of bargain hunters lol

  • +1

I am allowing emails now also http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/39466/contact

    • Hey mate, your emails don't seem to be working. It says you are not accepting emails.
      Not sure if that's intentional.
It'd be great if you could help out!.. I am in Melbourne..

  • It's great to see people out there offering assistance to those who want it!
Great score if it pans out well if you ask me.

  • Nice find. Even though I don't work at Woolies, I like your sharing attitude. That's why we are all here after all.

  • +1

I would like to make it abundantly clear, as an employee of Woolies, that the Staff Discount Card issued by Woolworths Supermarkets (who owns DSE, Big-W, Tandy, Woolworths Liquor/Petrol, etc.) is for use only by the person whom the card was issued to and they have to be present for & pay for the transaction to claim the staff discount (and yes sometimes you get asked for a Driver's Licence).

Just a heads up for anyone hoping to get marked down prices by getting in touch with an employee over the Net.

    • This can work if the employee is willing to meet at a local store and just present the card before the purchaser makes payment. This is the same as if I was going in with a family member.

When purchasing online, the DSE checkout system has a field to enter in your Every day rewards card number. For employees, our discount card doubles up as a EDR card so the system identifies this and applies the discount.
It would be risky for an employee to share out his/her discount card number as purchases with different names and delivery addresses would be linked to the card number which raises alarm bells.

      • -1

That's essentially what I'm saying… people offering to discount non-employees won't work unless they meet in person, and then claim they're a family member or else I guess paying for their purchase & having them reimburse them afterwards or borrowing money from them directly is an alternative.

        All I'm saying is… it's just a bit complicated/tricky for 10% off.

        • With the macbook/pro, the additional 10% off for staff is quite a generous discount as it's rarely discounted and would be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than elsewhere.
Meeting up doesnt take up too much of my time…maybe 15-20 minutes tops if stock is reserved and the purchaser rocks up on time, so I'm happy to help where I can

  • Just reading through the fine print "…excludes apple ipods". Fucken joke.

    • +2

      Yeah, iPods are a joke.

    • You only get the normal 5% staff discount on them.

      • It seems that if you shop online you get 10% off ipods as well. Just tried putting an ipod into my cart and it took $35.80 off (ipod touch 32GB normal price: $358). You also get free speakers and mains charger valued at ~$58. Don't know if you get 10% off or bonuses when you shop in store though.

  • So the public still gets access to the sale but minus the 10% staff discount right?

    • Sort of. Public gets 10% storewide, staff get an additional 10% off.
      Example:
      Macbook pro (XC6494) $1449.
      Public price, Standard 10% off ($1449 - 10% = $1304.10)
      Staff get an additional 10% off ($1304.10 - 10% = $1173.69)

      Macbook (XC6608) $1199.
      Public price, Standard 10% off ($1199 - 10% = $1079.10)
      Staff get an additional 10% off ($1079.10 - 10% = $971.19)

      • I'm actually more interested in the D-Link and Logitech sale.
        I recall seeing a G27 at a local Dick Smith :)

      • Try price matching at Myer during the sale and use the gift card promo to get close to the extra 10% DSE staff are getting.
        Macbook $1304.10 - $110 = $1194.10 + $20 myerone gift card in 6 months or so.
Even better find a Myer staff member use the current Myer promo for the MBP ($1349), their staff dc (10%) and the gift card promo to get the MBP for $1104.10 and for their time they get a $20 myerone gift card in 6 months or so, and this should all be fine since its being paid for by gift cards.

      • Public doesn't get 10% off storewide, they get the normal shelf prices. Anyone who works for a Woolworths owned company* gets access to those special prices listed on that pdf (no further discounts), and 10% off everything else not listed (though some exclusions like iPods.. they just get the normal 5% off).

*Note: Certain non-woolworths companies have access to the sale prices.. to which they need a business or company ID card..

        • So the Public don't get 10% off storewide ?..just making sure as im about to purchase a iPad.

        • +1

Only woolworths group staff can get those prices listed or the 10% off. It's a staff sale, not one open to the public, thus why it says "you must present your staff discount card to receive these offers". So no, the public don't get 10% off storewide. And trying to negotiate to those prices on that flyer won't work either, most of them are ridiculous markdowns which have their own codes just for the staff sale because so much money is lost on them.. But it's good for the staff =)

  • Can I get some love from Sydney DSE staff? - happy to drive to wherever you may be and perhaps compensate you for your time?

    • +6

I would be willing to help out 3 Ozbargainers in Sydney. You would have to be available sometime after 4pm on Friday and be willing to go any Dick Smith in the Sydney area. I will tell the first 3 who contact me via e-mail the specific time and location.

      • Wow. You're willing to go out of your way for others? You purchasing the stuff for others is commendable, let alone going to any Dick Smith in Australia for others. Kudos to you.

      • jayc ur tops!! I emailed you but I don't know if I made it in the top 3 as there are already 4+ votes on your comment… but I hope I take some precedence as the initiator of this particular request (pretty please)

aargh cant leave ozbargain alone even for a few hours - this place is like crack. Tell you what I'll even sing you a song:

I'll come to you, that is fair
        Anytime, anywhere
        name the place,
        I'll be there,
Bungi jumping I dont care :D

ok thats all I got lol

  • I got the Philips Bluray player for $99 as well as AC:B and Hot Pursuit.

The Bluray player is pretty awesome too.

  • Sony Bravia Full High Definition LED LCD TV KDL40EX600 with bonus Blu-Ray player - $878

^^Just a quick note that JB price-matched this deal for me! Definitely worth a shot if you don't have access to the discount card :)

I think I was extremely lucky but so might you - just print out the page and take it along.

    • Which JB was it may I ask?

      • Brighton, VIC :)
