Soniq S55UV16B-AU REV.A TV picture a little fast

Just set this up and noticed that the netflix app on the tv and the netflix app on the blu ray player both have the picture going a little fast.
Anybody know why this might be and how to fix?
I have been through the menu and can't find out how to fix.
Watching a DVD has the same problem.

Some details of the TV:
The model name is: S55UV16B-AU REV.A
Software Version: SONIQ_C4-ST628VXETC1B_LSC550FN05_QT1E-QG_SVN1564_S55_20160725.ZIP
Hardware Version: ST628VXETC1B_LSC550FN05_QT1E
Software Version: Mosca V1.01

I have also heard of a service menu.
What is this and could something here fix the problem?

I have also looked for an update on the tv but there is none available.

Was just looking at the box and the model said it was revision B and not A. So did we receive the wrong model?

So if anyone can help that would be great.

  • Check the settings for playback are not set at 1.5 x speed should be 1.0

    • I do not remember seeing a setting for that.
      Where would I find this?

  • Maybe under video playback I had a sonic 48 inch and their was something there like playback speed, possibly in the hdmi /display settings menu
but the bluray player should def have it often I can set my computer bluray in the video player software to play at a higher speed to get to a certain point faster rather than overrun using 8 x ff etc

    • Can't find it in the TV settings.
The problem is also on the app on the TV. Also, the Blu ray player was on a different tv and never had a problem.
Could this setting be in the Service Menu?
I am not sure where and I don't want to go changing things in that menu as I heard you can stuff your tv up if you change some settings.

  • Few things here
1 - The service menu is the advanced settings for your TV which allow you to change all sorts of things. You will find it is likely full of questionable English and loads of settings an acronyms you don't understand. It's not designed for customers to play with but it does have some useful settings.

2 - I believe to get into the service menu you press source button on your remote and then type in 200912 and wait a few seconds. This will load the menu and get you access to the settings. Be really careful about anything that sounds like test pattern or burn in. Turning that on will cause your TV to flash different primary colours and is a real bugger to get out of so best avoided.

As for your issue do you mean that the picture is ahead of the audio?

If that is the case there should be setting in the service menu called audio delay or similar. You can adjust this until the picture and audio match.

If you mean that your TV plays media faster and it does this no matter what you plug into it…. well I have no idea… Warranty time I guess. I had a look on whirlpool and the suggestion is that you aren't the only one to suffer this issue and nobody provided a fix

  • +1

Going by this http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2652159 ( from Orders link above) it seems like a firmware update fixes most problems. Try that. If it's still not right it maybe time to return it.

  • So from that site there is RevA and RevB. So I should stick to Rev A, or is Rev B meant for this also and I should use that?

  • Are REV A and B 2 completely different TVs?

    • Turns out they are 2 different tvs. REV A is black and REV B has a tan colour.
But which would mine be as it is tan, which you would think it is REV B, but then the model in the info screen of the TV says REV A.

  • Just managed to get a picture of the back of TV.
The info on the back says it is:
    Model No: S55UV16B-AU REV B
55'' UltraHD LED LCD Smart TV REV B

So why when looking at the info in the TV settings it says REV A? Did they load the wrong settings onto the TV? Would loading Firmware for REV B fix this?

    • Based on someone elses experience in that thread I linked it appears that the REV B firmware still says REV A in the menu because of course it does.

If you are confident you have the REV B which it sounds like you do then you should be fine to load this firmware on from here ftp://ftp.quatius.com.au/firmware/S55UV16B%20REV%20B/ORIGINA…
Please follow the instructions carefully as while messing up with most of them will just mean trying again it is really important that you do not pull the power from your TV while it is updating the firmware. During the firmware process your TV will likely just flash the status LED and have a black screen. At this point just leave it to do it's thing and don't touch anything.

It is also unlikely you have the wrong firmware on your TV from the factory. That would more likely result in such fun things as your screen being upside down, colours being inverted or other fun and wacky issues as the Rev A and Rev B are likely using different panels potentially from different manufacturers.

Anyway good luck with the firmware update, it should be relatively painless and hopefully fix your issue

      • Just uploaded the firmware.
Shouldn't the system info be different now? The software version is the same before I updated. I hope it updated properly. It went through the 2 update screens then it turned off.
