      Reported for suggesting that batteries should be disposed of in landfill.
      Batteries contain heavy metals which can poison the soil and water in landfills.
      They can be dropped off at Aldi, Ikea & Battery World to be recycled.

  Honestly even with the discounts, still not as cheap as their own VARTA brand which are surprisingly good and long lived. I keep two packs of VARTAs for the odd "Dad I need batteries in my xxxxx device/toy".

    Yep the Varta deal is the new benchmark I use for alkaline batteries. It doesn't have to match it or beat it (otherwise I'll be waiting a while …) but just to judge value per cell wise.
