  • Worst phones ever. Had no end of troubles with them and we've had two. They are fine for a while then they start to think headphones are plugged in. Yes we have done the usual cleaning of the socket, switching off etc etc.

Definitely would stay well away from them. They are this price for a reason.

    • I can't speak for everyone, but at $9 I wouldn't exactly be using it as my daily driver…

  • I bought the Nokia 3310 bit over a week back for some laughs and nostalgia and to be honest, I'm actually still using it. Mind you, I've got a Game Boy Color emulator on there and some other cool games, but for the most part, if you're like me and refuse to pay for data or don't need internet EVERYWHERE with you, these phones are actually still pretty damn usable in 2018, and if nothing else, it's a conversation starter. Heheh, because you talk on it. Heh.

I'm sure it will wear off, but I'm having fun pressing a button 3 or 4 times to get one single letter at the moment.

    • I remember the days when I browsed Ozbargain on a Nokia 6288, using a java-based Opera Mini that would take 30 seconds to render a basic webpage.

and made comments on a T9 keyboard using the DPAD for mouse cursor control.

      (Not) very good times.

Still loads up, even now. Vodafone gave me 2gb for free to use on January the first, some new year's thing, I don't know, so I did about as much internet as I could on the little bugger. OzB loaded, but no real pictures, and it was like one deal at a time IIRC. Got Facebook to load fine, and even YouTube would actually stream video, which really impressed me. All my old WAP sites are gone unfortunately, but I got a few things running through Google, Wikipedia went fine too. Even managed to get XNXX loaded for a laugh, had to download the video unfortunately, no streaming porn on the 3310 it seems :'(

  • The description is not correct. the phone can't be unlocked. Bought one and will return it today.

      You are doing it wrong.

I unlocked one using the following instructions: (i forget which worked on the Lite)

If the phone doesn't prompt for the code, then try dialing the code below with the original SIM / without SIM:

      1. ###825*09#
      2. *983*8284#
      3. *983*865625#

Or go to Settings -> Security -> Network Unlock.

Either your unlock provider failed to give proper instructions, or you failed to read them.

    • Hi IF you are telstra customer , got telstra postpaid number ,try online chat to unlock it , optus did for me just try

Cheaper than bricks. I'm going to build my Sydney property empire using a stash of these.
    Watch out!

  • Price matched at office work $8.55 , thanks OP

  • 18.9% of the phone's price to unlock it!

Got one in-store, it was priced at $19 but I simply went to HN's own website using one of their demo laptops and showed them the phone clearly advertised there for $9.

    Good post OP, cheers.

  • Getting my iPhone replaced, have to go without it for 5 business days, so this is brilliant, I was going to sell it once I unlock it for double, but then I thought, why not just keep it as an emergency back up?
mmm thinks Ill be missing my apps, google maps, etc but oh well.

  • Anyone successfully unlocked this phone? using the ebay link?
Any how to guides that work with this particular model?

    regards Aaron

    • Hi first you need to insert the sim which came with the phone and before you dial the unlock code you need to dial special number starts like 983865625#( which was mine) then it will take you to the screen where you need to write unlock code. I tried this and it worked.

      • Jay13 you using Optus? I can get my Optus sim (multiple sims) to work despite the phone saying its now unlocked during the code insertion.

  • Anyone not had notification to collect order for this one yet? I haven't. Don't really care if it's fulfilled or not, but just wondering.

    • They send you email for collection within 3 hours of order placement, I got my email within one hour. Try their online chat or download their order collection app to check the status

      • I've bought many times through HN - this is longer than usual. App code says nothing's happened with the order for more than 48-hours and goes into a frenzy and says contact online chat. I'll do that when I have time.

  • My plan to use this as a music player failed, it only has 40mb of space lol

Still useful as a backup phone.

I'm not sure if I have been infected with the Ozbargain syndrome. I walked in Harvey Norman QV (Melbourne VIC) nonchalantly without looking at their "sales" and buckets of "further sale" items. While waiting at the computer counter, I turned around and saw this

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/93750/55574/img_201801…

When the tall, big-belly blue-shirt-wearing dude came, looked at the order on my phone - just quietly went to get the phone and processed my order. He knew. I smiled and gave him that proud "I'm a ******** OzBer" look.

Great business model right there, punishing shoppers who walk into their stores.

You should go back in there with a big fat permanent marker & write on the sign - $9.00 online

      • +1

Who will then pay for all the staff standing around in-store???

      • Isn't it $9 when they scan it?

        • I don't know, I haven't been in there. I just assumed because the sign says $18.00 that you would have to tell them it's $9.00 online if you don't want to get bent over & screwed by Gerry.

          @WatchNerd:
Nah, i've been in for past ozb deals to HN, and just ask then to scan the item and check price.
Then see look of surprise on staff's face.

Scan has reflected online price, not posted one.

@manic: Fair enough, but I don't understand how that would help a b&m store. A regular walk-in customer is less likely to buy this particular phone without knowing the price has gone down a further 50%.

The HN I went in has different departments and each department I assume has at least 3 staff. It's not hard to have a daily list of price changes (for each department) and reflect them on the signs - as simple as crossing out the current price and write the new lower one with a marker.

  • thanks bought one

  • I got the phone unlocked with the eBay link. My kogan sim doesn’t work in it, says no network? Only the Telstra one provided worked. Any thoughts?

    • +2

Kogan is Voda, so needs 900MHZ band. ALDI will work, or any Telstra reseller.

  • you need a telstra sim to be able to enter phone interface and attempt unlock. can't straight off the bat. ordered my free telstra sim, should arrive today. i have my unlock code ready. will let you know how it goes.

    • +1

Why did you order seperate. There is one sim already in the phone pack and with 10 doller credit in it

      • It was free anyway, but thanks for pointing this out, I didn't know there was a sim already in there. Will look again.

  • plenty of stock at campbeltown HN.

OW Price Beat :-) Just got 2 @ $8.55 each
