I like looking at watches especially costly ones. I couldn't find a seriously bad review of this site as well. So thought of sharing.

Here are the automatics on clearance.

I like watches too, are there any bargains?

    • No Skmei and Megir there. But I think the Seiko/Rado automatic ones are of good value.

Cool you should put some in the title & description. It's always good to list some bargains with prices as suggested in the Deal Posting Guidelines. Also shipping should be mentioned too, which appears to be US$29.95.

        • +1

Shipping is free after 200usd. Nothing particularly nice on sale at the moment though. I am waiting for the armani automatic to drop to 199 again.

        • @giovannip:
Agree us$300 for an Armani fashion watch is a bit expensive.

        • @PVA: automatic movement is good money for value.

@giovannip: I am not a watch expert, or even an enthusiast, but buying a Seiko automatic watch and a Citizen Echo Drive one recently, I am liking the Echo Drive/solar one a lot better. You just put the Echo Drive watch near the window for a few hours and it keeps time for many months even if you don't wear it. I can't stand all that time adjusting thing you have to do whenever you want to wear your auto watch after a short period of not wearing it.

        • @AussieDaddy:

Automatic watches are brilliant. If you had bought an automatic watch with a 10-day reserve, you wouldn't have to adjust it for a very long time as long as you wore it once every week or so.

        • @giovannip: there's lots of automatic watches around that are cheap, some nice seikos for example.

        • True, and OP has had opportunities to add to the description.

Ashford have a solid rep. Sometimes a bit flakey on returns, but various reports so YMMV.

In terms of deals, this one looks like a pretty good one to me. I don't have a square watch but I've always lusted after a Tag Heuer Monaco. This may just scratch that itch. Certina are a part of the Swatch behemoth, so shouldn't be any issues quality wise.

    https://www.ashford.com/us/watches/all+brands/certina/ds+pod…

    Certina DS Podium Automatic
    38mm face diameter
Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement (I think - certainly looks like it)
    100m water resistance
    Sapphire crystal
Leather band with double folding clasp.

    USD$313.25 = approx $400.00AUD + shipping

Don't forget CashRewards as well (with a potential 10.5% return - but I haven't checked this particular coupon).

    • Very nice, and I doubt it is cheaper elsewhere.

A little plain but this looks like a good deal with the discount https://www.ashford.com/us/watches/edox/les-vauberts/les-vau…

USD $228 with the code for a swiss auto, over USD $200 so should be free shipping. I've had an Edox before, not quite a Rolex but still a Swiss Auto. movement is a EDOX CALIBER 80A BASED ON ETA 2824 / SW 200

    • Excellent watch, significantly cheaper than the quartz version on Amazon.

  • Anybody here used Rado before? I always wanted a square faced automatic.

I think Member TheDoctor's find is better value and you can easily fit a metal strap if preferred. Rado used to be Swiss Made but nowadays only the movements are.

  • As long as people are aware of the gray market implications, then Ashford is worth considering.

Oh dear, I'm starting to really like this Edox.

    • +1

Ignore the rrp though, no way do they sell for that.

    • +1

Oooooh, damn you PJC for instilling impulsive thoughts!

      • +1

You may need to get that winder.

        • +1

My wolf winder is collecting dust - bit of a debate over whether it's better to keep the watch going vs wearing down the gears (especially given you'll be more inclined to keep something more complicated wound, which in turn has more pieces to break).

Edox dial is a bit too out of balance for my liking and not sure what I think of the modified Sellitta movement.

        • @billbro: I find it unusually pleasing that the full day is at 10 o'clock. Most other brands position that st 12 or 6.

        • +1

          @PJC:

To be fair, when I had a browse through the clearance items it was one of the watches that initially caught my eye. Didn't quite work for me when I clicked into it though, not bad as a throw around given the price.

Unfortunately, the CEO/CFO at home won't sign off on any new watch acquisitions soon - suppose I did have this picked up for me in blue recently (https://www.seikowatches.com/press_release/2017/RLS1711_01/i…)

        • +1

@billbro: Offtopic, but any chance member chillbro your bro?

        • +1

@sky blu: unfortunately not, probably because I'm not chill :(
