Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro $209 @ DWI Digital Cameras (HK)

80
DWIHAPPY1508

This in not the Gear Fit2, but the new improved Gear Fit2 Pro, which offers… greater water resistance and swim tracking, so, something I guess.

Supposedly the price would otherwise be $329 but Kogan has it for $229 plus delivery, DWI have reduced the price by $110, and the Coupon Code DWIHAPPY1508 takes a further $10 off.

Also comes in red and there is a small version, that is $195 after Coupon.

Don't forget CashRewards for 1.4% cash back for $2.92 in your back burner!

  • Water-Resistant up to 164'
  • 1.5" Super AMOLED Touch Display
  • 4GB Storage + 512MB of RAM
  • Bluetooth 4.2 + Wi-Fi Connectivity
  • Music Streaming & Storage
  • Accelerometer, GPS, and Heart Rate
  • Works with Android & iOS

Reviews were positive, but the biggest complaint was that it was over priced, well here it is $120 cheaper, hopefully making a decent choice.

  • Weren't these selling for 169 a year ago?

    • +1

Probably the non 'Pro' version which is a minor update

        There was this deal

Unless it has been tagged incorrectly, I believe JB Hifi did at one stage sell for $170.

Here's Pricehipster showing the price drop that happened very briefly on Dec 2017.

        • Damn, just one day? That would have been good. Search on Gear Fit2 Pro didn't bring that deal up for me, needed to search GearFit2 Pro.

        • @FabMan: see below

        • +1

@mlburnian: You sure that wasn't the Gear Fit2? The Gear Fit2 Pro is a different product.

        • +1

@FabMan: oops, I think I was wrong, appears to be not pro

        • @FabMan: Def was a pro. I got one from that deal. It was a pricing error ultimately, hence the super cheap price.

        • @sTon3r: Comment I was replying too was that Gear Fit2 Pro had regularly been below $200, which it hasn't, it was the Gear Fit2. Gear Fit2 Pro was below $200 once before, and as you said, due to pricing error.

This is the cheapest (I believe) you can get this product for, and cheapest it has been outside a pricing error and the smaller version is below $200.

This wouldn't be a problem if the naming was better.

          @FabMan: gotcha

  • +1

Should only get cheaper now that the new Gear Sport is out. Would be nice to get a deal on that one.

    • Indeed, but this is the big price drop, surely it would be a little while before next drop?

  • I'd go for the Samsung gear s2 at this price over this unless you wanted the higher waterproofing for tracking swimming.

The gear s2 is better in almost every way. No GPS and less water proofing but better notification handling and apps.

    • So less fitness orientated and more Smartwatch orientated?

Just to clarify, Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is a Fitness Tracker and Samsung Gear S2 is a Smartwatch.

      • S2 does fitness as well. Major difference is the lack of GPS which imo isn't a huge thing as on the gear fit it drained battery like no tomorrow and you can also use the GPS from your phone.

At this price I'd go for a smart watch over a fitness tracker which I would expect to be around $100-120,not $200+.

        • Don't forget waterproofing which is expensive with additional fitness tracking features too, such as cycling and swimming. With GPS, you don't need to take your phone with you if you do go riding, running, swimming. That feature costs more, you may not want or need it, but someone might.

I'm not saying it is the best product out there, but it is a fitness product first, where Gear 2 is a Smartwatch product first. Each are better at their own activities.

  • "Supposedly the price would otherwise be $329"

    At $329 price it's a rip-off. $190-220 is what it should be.

I believe during that pricing error by JB last December they revealed the actual product cost.

    • Product cost to who, JB Hi-Fi cost price? Or the price that the guy accidentally typed in? If it is JB Hi-Fi cost price at $170, $20 isn't exactly a big mark up to make it the $190 you believe it should be.

      • If product cost is $170, selling for $200 already attracts 18% mark up. That's way more than PC spare parts profits are. Though turn over is not that great. Kogan is probably making about 20% on that watch, while HN selling almost double the price.

        • Where are you getting your information from?

        • +1

          @FabMan:
          Speculating :)
I know approximately cost of goods Kogan buys from some local suppliers. Comparing those with on-line prices I guesstimate they operate within 10-30% markup. Imports probably more.

if you can fit the smaller band size it's $195 i guess with Coupon Code "DWIHAPPY1508" ($205 - $10off)

    • I did mention that in my post.

      • +1

you did too - sorry my bad - only read the first chunk.

  • Is it me, or there's a $7 surcharge? 2% fee seems to be around $4, but I am seeing a payment surchage of $9 bringing it to $216 after discount?

    • What shipping costs did you incur?

        • Hmmm, dunno? Don't like the sound of it, I didn't purchase one. Still looking, but found what I thought is the cheapest price of this product.

        • @FabMan: true, it is still the cheapest :)

Very tempted by this deal, thanks OP.

I have the Gear Fit 2 and love it. Comfortable, slim watch with GPS (a necessary feature for me), reasonable notification support, and okay battery life for a smart watch. The biggest negative is the below average band which undoes itself regularly.
A redesigned band, slightly better battery life - and proper waterproofing makes this a winner for me!

Annoyed I missed the JB Hifi pricing error. May as well hand in my OB membership now.

I have this one (got it free with my phone) and it's pretty handy. Don't have much to compare it too because I've on your ever used the first gen fitbit flex, but here's a few of my thoughts…

    Pro:
Comfortable fit with a buckle like a watch keeps it on
Has a function to find my phone, even when my phone is on silent
I can choose which notifications come through from my phone to the device, handy when I want to know when I get an email to my good account but not my spam account.
Waterproof - no need to worry about it
    Responsive and clear screen
I can check it in class where I'm not allowed my ph
Sleep tracker, steps tracker, hr tracker, exercise tracker
    Can load Spotify on it

    Cons:
Only lasts about 3 days until it needs a charge but does have a power saving mode to get by until I get it on the charge.
Not very pretty, just a big black band.
