.. which iMac do you suggest I can get at $798?? .. unless you are suggesting secondhand??

    • spend a little bit more

Serious? The cheapest iMac is $1600, and that only gets you 21.5 inches @ 1080p

        • Or maybe just buy a normal desktop, or a NUC.

This would be incredibly old stock, I'm guessing around end of 2014-start of 2015 is the last time I saw this in a shop.

The snapshot shows the PC running windows 8.1 Metro UI and the CPU is also 4th generation.

We're already up to 8th Generation CPU's so this might be something like a customer return or a ex display unit. Or it might be an inventory item that JB Hifi forgot to delete from database.

    • Judging by that recent price of $2198, they definitely forgot to discount this one.

    Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

    there's your answer

win10 came out in 2015 so this thing has been hanging around for 2yrs plus

  • not worth imho, unless you really want an AIO at this price point.

It does have 16GB, SD card reader & DVD drive which are reasonable specs.
The negative is the 2TB hard drive is not SDD.

Has anyone found a store with stock?

  • speed of i3, it's a touch screen maybe good for someone running a retail shop.

    • CPU benchs reasonably well given the 35w TDP

    • Is this upgradeable?

Just might put my old commodore 64 CPU in it for more grunt

I wouldn't be buying any new (or old, as in this case) computer until the dust settles on Meltdown and Spectre - see here for some insightful stuff https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/meltdown-and-spectre-f…

    • I expect once the fixed chips become available, the older CPUs will be discounted heavily. Depending on your workload it could represent a good bargain.

      • You might be right.

Family use is good enough. Touch screen, 16g ram, 2TB 7200 hard drive, better than most most all in one now.

Could be sufficient for a Kitchen PC? Recipes, Youtube, and don't mind if it gets dirty.

    • +2

Overkill for a kitchen PC. You could use a cheap $150 Android tablet for that, and Google Home actually reads out recipes step by step from the internet — you tell it when you are ready for the next cooking step. It'll also helpfully keep track of multiple timers.

  • Dead link for me.
