Buzz Telco 2018 Freshstart - Feedback & Discussion

I've just signed up with Buzz Telco this morning and got connected this evening.

Currently running 11mbps over wifi on 12mbps package at 8:30pm peak hour.

So it has been splendid for me so far.

Before everyone jumped on the 2017 fiasco, just calm down 1st.

I'm willing to try them out to see if they've improved from the past. I know there are still people waiting for their refunds with unresolved issues, which i think mostly are due to heaps backlog of TIO cases to be resolved with limited resources available.

I would like to give them a chance and hear feedback from others that have just signed up post 2018.
Hence this topic/thread created as a freshstart to re-judge Buzz Telco performance & service.

anybody with them for fixed wireless?

Yep- FW- slowest speed- does everything I need. Apart from the 6 day blackout, I've never had a problem with them in the 2 years I've been with them.

Oh, and their billing process was hopeless-I had to constantly chase them to send me a bill. But they must have hired someone competent to handle billing because it's running smoothly now.

      • That's really good to know.

It might not stay that way.

    What plan are you on?

      the basic 12mbps plan

Oops, didnt read it properly. That seems great! Will signup once nbn is done

I've been with them for a good 6 months.
If you want a landline port it to SipTalk - the BuzzTelco sip server doesn't play nice with NAT and couldn't get it working at all.
Internet has been fine, some small downtime when they swapped from AAPT > Vocus but all good.
For customer service YOU need to be persistent - their customer service is not proactive and with a small staff base I can see why.

Go into it recognizing it is a cheap but stable service once it is up and running.

You forgot the option of been with them awhile and happy with the service.

Other than the 2-3 day downtime a couple of months ago they've been great. 90+Mbps on the 100 plan at cheaper than what belong gave me for 12mbps.

You forgot the option of never heard of them, what happened?

  • Wheres the option "Never been with then and never will" ?

The way i read that they handled it is a huge turn off and ill never go with them cause of that much like how ill NEVER go back to Iprimus.

Had my first outage yesterday after 4 months.

  • Signed up with them 2 months before NBN was available, received the modem before Nbn tech arrived and was running 1-2 hours after he left. Speed is consistently around 20+mbps.

Never had an issue with billing but I also don't care about phone line/VoIP, which I think people are having problems with. Have just upgraded to the 50mbps plan to see how much my FTTN speed improves by!

Very happy with it for the price I pay!

  • What's the benefits over a myrepublic plan?

  • I'm with Buzz. I have fiber to the premises and have the exchange on my front lawn. I signed up for 100/40 plan. I am lucky to ever get 30 down speed.

they're cheap but they're also shit when it comes to actual speeds.

I also have my own router to make sure they I've got equipment which can deliver top speeds. I think Buzz don't have the ability to actually deliver 100/400 speeds to anyone. If I can't get it in my situation I doubt anyone can get it.

      Hello bunnybash

If you haven't already, please open a ticket. Those speeds are way too low for FTTP on a 100/40 Plan. We will happily work to get your speeds up to where they should be.

      Cheers

      Jeremy

      • Hi Jeremy,
        Thanks for replying.

I've just recently run some more tests and you guys must have upgraded or something because I have tested the speeds over the last 48 hours 12 times and I the average speeds I get are:

        92.38 Mbps down
        19.14 Mbps up

So the downloads are fixed but the uploads are still a bit low. I have yet to get over 22Mbps upload so just over half the upload speeds. I will open a ticket for that, as uploads are important to me too.

Thanks for following this up - I will edit my original comment to reflect the improvement in speeds.

I've just joined Buzz and I'm very satisfied.
I'm on the 12Mbps down and 1Mbps up plan, here's my speed test results.

Speed test by Ookla, Android app:

    Time of test: 4:10am

    Download: 11.40Mbps
    Upload: 0.94Mbps
    Ping: 8ms
