  • Some pretty nice deals, but beware of being called and told your flights cancled the day before your flight. Happened to a friend recently, not really reliable =\

    • Tiger Australia has only 10 aircraft. One plane delayed or out of service removes 10% of the day's capacity. It's not widely known Tiger has so few aircraft, and explains the frequent cancellations and almost paranoid attitude to getting passengers onto planes on time.

      • wow I never knew this. interesting fact!

    • What 10% link? Promotion ended?

      • bastards! Looks like they found out about the mass use…

  • I think Tiger are fantastic. I use their cheap fares to call up Jetstar and get a further 10% discount all the time :)

Would I ever fly with Tiger? Not until their fleet gets much bigger. With all the bad press they cop about their 'surcharging' policy, it makes me wonder why they don't take the 'discounting' line instead… Sydney to the Gold Coast $249. Don't need food? Take off $25. Don't need checked-in luggage? Take off another $25. Print your own boarding pass at home? Save $10. Lock-in your travel dates? Save $100. People can't complain about 'hidden charges' if they have elected to remove these services themselves. It also puts a positive slant on the process, rather than a negative one.

    • probably because it is not attractive to the target market, if the ad reads, "Sydney to Gold coast $249.99".

I've had at least 15 flights with Tiger and I haven't had a bad experience. Delayed by an hour twice, but that's not the end of the world.

I've heard the horror stories, so I guess I've been lucky. But I know what I'm buying, so I wont choose Tiger if it's critical I arrive on time.

I'll only choose them if they're much cheaper than a more reliable airline at the time I need to fly.

    Tiger airways is the best

the bottom line the way i see it, whether u like the airline or not, is their presence has undeniably made flying cheaper, even with the (slightly-more-) premium carriers.

    • Thats it. You dont have to fly this mob to benefit from their low fare revolution. I snapped up Qantas Melbourne-Sydney for $69 the other week. Before Tiger went on this route it was around $150 each way.

At least they keep the others decent.
