      • I’m not sure if he’s suggesting lying but how far off are you hirolol.

    • If you're few thousand below, they'll look at your credit history and make a decision based off of it.

Best not to lie or they'll be less likely to help you if you run into difficulty.

      • I'm on about 70k officially, but with salary packaging it comes out to over 75k. Reckon if I show them proof of income (bank statements) and good credit history they'd approve?

        • +1

Show them your bank balance. If you have jack all then be prepared to have your application declined.

They care more about how much money you have in your bank account as opposed to how much you earn imo.

        • @smuggler: Roger that, thanks mate

  • I got my first statement last week. I was surprised to see that an international transaction that I mistakenly did (usually use the travel adventures card for foreign currencies as it's fee free) on this card had its transaction fee rebated at the end of the month.

I'm not sure why they did it.

  • Clarification question.

What is the ^"Buy and Fly with Qantas" restriction. Is that only for the status credits?
i.e. you have to use THIS credit card to purchase a QANTAS RETURN flight by May'18 to get credits? Am I correct to read that points are awarded based on purchasing history?

If you were to purchase a ticket with points and pay the taxes with this card, does that count as purchasing a ticket?

    Thx

    • Is that only for the status credits

      yes

  • Can you please clarify on this :
"Buy and fly return with Qantas by 31 May 2018."

Does it mean that to get 75000 Qantas Points, I need to buy a return ticket from Qantas and pay with my own money ?

    • +3

No. The buy and fly condition is for the status credits.

  • What reason would you give to cancel after getting the points. I just got approved today.

How to check the number of required to upgrade economy class to business class from Sydney to Singapore.

    • +1

Comes down to your personal points-earning strategy. Most banks will have an eligibility rule whereby you will not be entitled to bonus points if you've been a customer within the last 12 months (sometimes 18 months). Hence if you cancel immediately after receiving your bonus points, you're essentially resetting your eligibility period ASAP. When the same card/bank offers another chunk of bonus points a year later, you're setting yourself up nicely to qualify for the bonus once again.

    • +1

Don't need to give any reason. Please cancel thank you. But if you're a little uncomfortable, a good one would be something along the lines of "I'm cutting down on my credit cards as I need to apply for a home loan" .. case closed.

  • Thanks ilubargains

  • Is the income individual or household? Partner and I combined earn over 75k but not individually.

    • Get her to dump $30,000 into your bank account. lol

      Then just apply.

  • To get the status credits, do you have to book the flight on this card? Or just have to fly on any paid QF fare? Have to book some work fares soon, so if it can be on any card, will just fly QF on one leg (I usually fly VA).

Alternatively, anyone know if flying AA would count as a QF flight for the purpose of this? Doubt it would but have a US domestic AA flight in a few weeks which I will credit to QF.

Just a note of caution, consider entering your desired credit limit instead of selecting "give me the highest limit I qualify for".

I selected the latter and now have a credit enquiry for $50,000 on my credit file.

    • Good point. I always go for the minimum when getting these types of 'throwaway' cards. Mine arrived in the post today. Pretty fast turnaround.

    • Hey high roller

  • I cancelled a previous ANZ Black card in April last year i.e. <12 months ago. I could not see in the fine print about not being able to apply if you cancelled within 12 months. I have seen this fine print on other cards on other occasions though so I am aware of this issue. So I applied. Hey presto! Just received text saying card approved.

    • +2

They'll give you the card but as per their T&Cs you won't get the bonus 75000 points. May be if you're really lucky.

    • Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card account. This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months.

  • I received my letter of offer in the mail today - nothing about the 75k points of 75 status credits. Where is this in writing? Worried nothing to hold them to - yes will call ANZ tomorrow but thought OzBers might already know….

    • I called the bank and it was a bit challenging - didn't want to give me info because I have to go to the bank to provide ID. The bank said the points will come through but it's not in the letter of offer (but the no fee for the first year is….).

Just save a screenshot of the promo page. Although I doubt it would be needed.

      • Did anyone copy down the T&Cs (especially for the 75 status credits clause)? I can't find them on the website anymore. Thanks!

        • If you got it, please send it to me too! I also didnt save it when I applied

  • Is this card good to hang on to ?
Wondering if I should keep it after the 75,000 points.

Seems like 1 QFF = $1 is a good deal, so might be worth keeping?

  • +1

Did anyone receive the 75 Status Credits associated with this offer?

    • Yes, I applied for this card last October, took a return flight to NZ in early November, and got the status credits on my account by the end of November.

  • Did anyone take a screenshot of the promotion page? I got the deal but cant find the terms and conditions associated with it in case I need to refer back to it

    • +2

I have it… if anyone has any dramas, I'll be happy to post

      • Amazing! and your username alludes to what I was going to say next

        • +1

I have saved the whole thing as a pdf but here's the first page I uploaded as an image.

        • @gimme:

If you can post up the PDF that'd be great!

        • @gimme:
          Thanks for your help mate

Luckily the Wayback_machine has a cached copy of the original deal so I took a screenshot of the entire thing

    • Bingo!!! thanks heaps!

    • Perfect, found the offer from October. ANZ were claiming that I'm not eligible for the status credits offer. The Wayback_machine says otherwise! Hopefully it'll be resolved easily now.

  • I recently got their rewards card (not ff rewards card). It's the only ANZ credit card I have ever had. Does that mean that I am ineligible for this offer? This offer seems to say only if I have had a ff credit card I would be ineligible? Any advice please?

    • There's a different promo for their Rewards card, less rewarding than this one though.

  • This offer seams to still be valid but it is stated here as expired?

    • +1

The 75 Status credits is no longer part of the deal.

  • Does anyone know if I rotate between the 3 ANZ QFF credit cards on offer, can I still qualify for the bonus points?
For example if I apply for the Frequent Flyer Black get the bonus ponts then close the account and then apply for the Platinum, do I have to wait 12 months before I am eligible for the bonus points via the Platinum? If I do have to wait 12 months, I'd rather apply for the Black again.

The 3 cards on offer at the moment:
ANZ Frequent Flyer (25k QFF points)
ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum (65k QFF points)
ANZ Frequent Flyer Black (75k QFF points)

    • can't do it

  • Got this card early dec and did the minimum spend within the first week. Still waiting on the 75000 frequent flyer points. Anyone know how long it takes?

    • typically up to 3 cycles but varies

  • This deal hasn't expired.

    • +1

partially expired .. no more status credits

    • Still 75k QFF points though

      • yes we know

  • What exactly do the status points do?

  • Just wondering - I note the conditions state:

Not available … when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months.

I've currently got an ANZ rewards credit card (not FF) (have had for 10+ years) - and have never had an ANZ FF card - if I apply for the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card (but don't close or transfer the existing ANZ rewards card) does anyone know if I'm still eligible/ineligible for the bonus FF points and first year annual fee waiver?
