Sony A1 OLED 55" $3,408.60 Delivered (WAS $4,247) @ VideoPro eBay Store

PCTECH

Not as good as Costco's black friday deal of $3,150 (not inclusive of delivery) but a decent price for an amazing tv. If you have a Sony kiosk close by, you could try negotiating a price match + additional warranty. Sony just announced the follow up to this model (A8F) at CES 2018 and the only thing that's changed is the stand so it sounds like they are pretty confident about picture quality.

Is it really worth double the price compared to the LG OLED?

Double? It's only a little bit more expensive than the C7.

The lower end B7 is not the same class. And the flaws really show it.

      • Little bit when comparing rrps maybe. Still much more expensive than the C7. FYI, the B7 and C7 use the same panel, so no difference in picture quality.

I'm not sure on differences, but I only want to compare like for like.

If you saw the B7 as good value, then it is the one to get.

          @plmko:

All the LG's have identical picture quality (unless they've been binning panels) according to multiple sources.

The sony and Panasonics would be the same too, except they have different image processing routines.

For this generation, 99% of people really should get the LG. Even I swore I'd never buy LG again (every product of theirs except the microwave either broke or hasn't done what it was supposed to) but I did.

Panel is only one part of a TV, theres many other bits to cheap out on… picture can be effected by processors and every other chip in the circuit, even the design of the PCBs. Not saying they have with the B7 C7, just pointing it out.

      • What flaws show in the B7 that don't show in the C7 (or the Sony for that matter)?

I was grappling with the price differential myself but I am incredibly sensitive to brightness and detail. Comparing the A1 and C7 side-by-side at JB, I found the C7 too bright (both sets were calibrated to maximum brightness) and there was noise in upscaled picture quality. Reading reviews, both panels are from LG but the Sony's processor does a better job eliminating artefacts in upscaled content. Given the price point, I think it's best to choose a panel based on budget and real-world comparisons.

    • No cause you can get a $1000 speaker/soundbar and an nvidia shield which will work out cheaper and better.

A dedicated system with faster updates and it'll be transferable to your next device too.
Sony updates are slow and will only last 2-3 yrs max cause of their 'yearly model releases'.

My 2015 tv still hasn't gotten its nougat update and it's been available since 2016, it'll probably be its last update we get too without ever seeing oreo.

  • Is there a limit per customer, or do I have to make multiple accounts?

    • $1000 max discount, so spend over $5000 in one transaction and you lose out.

    • Broden? is that you???

Checked the Video Pro web site price with today's (15 Jan 2018) ebay price. Sony A1 OLED 55" web site price - $3975, Ebay price - $4192 (+ $55 postage).
The Panasonic 65” TH65EZ950U 4K OLED Smart TV web site price is $3,893 versus the Ebay price of $4675 (plus $77 postage). Remarkable difference!
Shipping appears to be free if purchased from their web site. Appears that their web site price for the Pana is more or less tuned to tomorrow's 20% off Ebay sale.

    • That's normal. Ebay and Paypal will stick their hand out for a percentage of the purchase price. Their own website cuts out the middle man.

Interesting design! Love how the mount is hidden behind like a picture frame.
