Doesn't seem that cheap. See Japan return for around $700-800 all the time, even from Qantas.

    • +1

only worthwhile if, for whatever reason, someone wanna tag on a stopover in Hong Kong… otherwise probably better off flying direct

    • I agree! 7xx-8xx is a very normal price to japan .even the direct flight Qantas! or JAL.
if CX wanna catch some shares, plz reduce the price to 6XX at least!

    • Haha not from Perth =P $800 for CP is very decent. We don't get access to cheap gold coast flights or anything direct.

  • +1

Remember, Cathay, as do most full service carries, allow "Open Jaw" bookings at little or no extra cost. Fly into to Narita and out of Chitose, for example.

  • Are these flights direct or via Hong Kong?

    • +1

Don't think CX flies directly to Japan from Australia

    • Definitely via Hong Kong

Missing out a very important condition:

a minimum of two passengers booked together

    • It's in the title and the first paragraph

      • +2

I updated the deal to include those conditions as the OP left it out.

        • Awesome! Thanks :)

  • +1

If those prices include Naha and Chitose, they're pretty good.

Average deal, Singapore Air are offering $650 return:

  • +16

Singapore airlines are doing flights for about $650, why is this a bargain?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354168

    • It’s a lot more expensive to fly to Sapporo (Chitose) from Perth usually so this is a good deal.

  • +2

not a deal at all, there's cheaper fares that dont have the silly requirements

    • The Sapporo (New Chitose) deal is pretty good for a full service airline.

      • Last year I flew with Thai Airways for around $700 to New Chitose, tickets were bought like one week in advance. But tickets to New Chitose is even cheaper than to Tokyo, which definitely makes the New Chitose flight look prettier.

  • Japan and Tokyo are not the same thing

in case you want to fly to any of the other 5 cities mentioned in the deal
Sapporo (New Chitose), Osaka, Nagoya, Okinawa, and Fukuoka

    also

if price is the only thing
did search with IWTF Syd to Tokyo
Philippines airline ended up being the cheapest @ $620pp

  • +4

20 hour two stop flight from Brisbane.

    Pass.

  • I booked adelaide to Tokyo last week for 3. cost me $600 each

  • Not bad since there's Sapporo and Okinawa, but overall seems more expensive than previous Singapore Airline's deal (At least for flights from MEL to Tokyo).
Was planning a trip to Tokyo for Sakura cherry blossom (Mar - Apr), although that IWTF Singapore Airline deal is for "Travel in Apr - Jun/18 and Oct - Nov/18" (just like this deal is for "16 Apr 2018 to 31 Oct 2018"), was able to find a ~$770/pp MEL-HND return flight for Mar - Apr on Singapore Airline's official website last week. Cathay's similar flight is more than 1k/pp.
Besides, Haneda (Tokyo) is much better than Narita (Tokyo), better airport, shorter & faster transport to city center.

  • SQ has better deal.

  • Plus oz bargainerscan get enveloop's made in japan from japan :)

  • Decent price for a good airline, but no bargain.
