Samsung Galaxy Book 12" - $400 off All Models - Starting $1199 + Free Express Shipping @ Samsung Website (AU Stock)

100

Samsung is once again discounting what is probably one of 2017's most underrated devices; their HDR-capable, AMOLED-screen alternative to the Microsoft Surface. The Galaxy Book 12, bundled with S-Pen and keyboard case. Making it generally better value than the Surface, even during its respective sales.

This markdown is larger than any previously offered by Samsung themselves, second only to Digital Star's 2017 Black Friday sale.
I did not hang around a Samsung Kisok this time around, so I'm really not entirely sure when the sale ends. For all I know it could be when the MWC begins and Samsung announces their successor tablet unless they cleared their stock well before that.

ADDENDUM: It's more likely that the special offer is for 'Back to School.' Which I speculate could mean sometime late January.

  • remember for tagging, please use full product names e.g Samsung Galaxy Book 12 as opposed to individual nouns like 'tablet', 'stylus' or 'HDR'

    • Gotcha.

  • hmm Samsung computers.
Honestly haven't had much experience with them in this department, which is worrisome. Typically I find Samsung products to be either good or terrible, slightly leaning towards good.

Anyone have an opinion here? I'm thinking that, like their tvs, this might be a nice screen on an otherwise terrible product.

Currently using their 10.6 inch model for daily use as a uni student. Its pretty good, doesn't lag even with 10 tabs open + docs. The only con i have to say is that the keyboard is a little bit of a hassle, especially when you try to shape it to fit your screen tilt liking.

One word of advice (as it has happened to me before), as these a relatively new, DO YOUR BEST TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING. I dropped mine when i picked it off a desk, and it fell on the hard floor. Bloody screen cracked and it cost me ~$480 to fix. GG

    • I have a Samsung laptop I bought in Sept 2012 which is still going strong. Only thing I changed was the HDD to SSD and its been nothing but solid. Was disappointed when they stopped making laptops tbh.

      • Agreed; I loved my 2012 Samsung laptop! It had pretty decent battery life and at just over a kilo it was really thin and light for a 13 incher, even by today's standards.

      • Yep we had a Samsung Laptop pro from around that year and it was great until my Dad picked it up by the top of the screen and broke the screen!

  • What is better…the Galaxy Book 12 inch 256gb with 8gb of ram or a Surface Book 2 from Microsoft Store, using the parent/student price of $1869?
Worth the surface book 2 for an extra $250??

    • If the specs are the same, no.

You need to buy the stylus and keyboard separately, running you a few hundred extra on top.

You do have a higher resolution screen though, but the Samsung is AMOLED, so even that isn't a clear win.

From reading reviews, I would say surface book 2, according to reviews the galaxy book is great but it apparently does not have a good fan as the surface and can heat up quicker because of it.

I have the Galaxy Book 12 (128GB, 4GB ram and 4G) . Literally bought it last week on gumtree for $400 in almost brand new condition (no joke, bargain of my life).
Great device and no lag. Keyboard is quite comfortable and easy to use. haven't used the stylus too much. Gets slightly warm for long use but it's not that bad as the reviews make it out to be. All round great tablet/laptop.

Forgot to check gumtree this gives me hope. Thanks man.

Btw can it run steam alright?

I plan to play some low level games on it.
