    506$.Hmmm.
Unlikely to attract attention on OzB.
    Happy to be proven wrong!!!!!

    • normal price is about $550-600, so its a bit of a deal. They just arent particularly great headphones, with pretty subpag build and qc for the price.

  • I agree, but I think it's too good a deal not to post for the few headphone enthusiasts here!

  • I'm sitting on the HD800, should I swap over to planar?

    • If you do, definitely not for these. That's Audeze territory.

      • I've tried Audeze but not too impressed. I've been considering trying some Hifiman stuff for a while, I've had their DAPs in the past and they're decent.
Have you had personal experience with Audeze?

        • I bought LCD2 rev2s for myself for christmas because i am a petulant manchild who needs a constant stream of new toys to validate my life choices.

And because my beyer t1s got stolen so i had a cheque.

I've owned 400is, and borrowed 560s for a week. Both woiuld be a massive step down for you from your senns.

        • @jjcf: Good to hear. Amp and dac choices for yourself?

        • @BrewerHaHa: bottlehead crack + speedball, bifrost mb

        • @jjcf: Pretty decent set up. Did you build the crack yourself?

I have the HD800, HE400i, and Fedelio X2HR, etc.. Here is my general observation:

The HD800 is great for vocal and classical music. It is very detail and spaceous. Over all, it is observably (but not by much) better than HE400i in every front. Its high is not too uncomfortable in my opinion. I previously have the Beyer900 Premium 600ohm, that can's high is so painful to listen to that I have sold it.

HE400i is great for vocal and techno musics. With any fast pace music, the HE400i could reproduced those notes cleanly and you get a sense of separation and not run in like the Fedelio.

Fedelio is a good all rounder and strong on bass. It is great for game and no slough for all type of musics. It is my go to headphone for every things else.

I also have the sennheiser hd26 and hd25. I felt the Fedelio is superior than both of these. However the hd26 and hd25 have great sound isolation and portable.

      • I think I may have tried the 400i a few months ago and think it's nothing close to the HD800. When you get the HD800 going through a powerful amp it's in a class of it's own. So far I've only tried one headphone better (but can't remember the name but remember it was $5k; maybe worth due to being incredible). What amp/dac are you using Zombies?

        • u referring to the focal utopia?

        • The DAC is Gustard DAC-X20Pro and the Amp is SPL phonitor mini. However, I often too lazy to turn them on and drive it through my Asus Xonar Essence STX II instead. It does a pretty good job and to me it is about 90% close to the Gustard/SPL combination.

        • @andy2: Yes I think that's the one. I had the chance to try the HD800 and Focal Utopia side by side and the difference was incredible. At the time I did not know the price but another HD800 owner told me he was looking to buy it but could not justify the price.

    • I'm sitting on the HD800

The planar headphones have a flatter profile, so they should be gentler to your arse.

It's Hifiman, the things would snap in half if you passed a bit of wind while sitting down.

  • IMO these at $400 would be good value.
