Thanks TA. Was thinking of Japan for Christmas. Now to decide if I want to go earlier hmmmm

    • +10

      Go early AND Christmas 🤑🤑

      • +13

Time to use up my sick leave.

        • -3

I'm going to hurt myself so I can get compo.

        • Same thought here too lol

        • @Scab: I've always thought most OZBs are unemployed. Otherwise, this much online activity can't be explained!

  • +3

Wow what an awesome price for full service, great find TA!

  • +2

Don't book via 'price beat travel'. Having bad experience with them from the last deal.

  • Can these prices be booked through qantas directly? If not whats the best of these online travel agents to book through?

    • Nope they're always gonna be higher. And even higher if you choose higher than "sale" class of tickets

    • +1

Depending if these are Gross published fares into the GDS, then yes you can book directly Qantas for that price - just go their site. Alternatively you can go through online or agents. You could go through Flight Centre, just make sure that your dates are available and the price is still available.

Just remember, at this price there will be a lot of fare restrictions - Non refundable, No date changes or quite expensive for a date change.

Qantas also releases 'special fares' to companies e.g Webjet, Flight centre, and numerous other online sites (Usually the big guys own quite a few of the online sites with different names). These prices will not be on the Qantas site.

This is a great price as long as you are on Qantas metal and they are not code sharing with Jetstar - in other words QF ticket on a Jetstar plane

      • +1

None of these fares are Jetstar metal. Qantas have been reducing J* flights to Japan to claw them back on to QF metal. With all Japan flights now transiting via OOL of CNS, it seems too inconvenient to even bother any more

        • Then this is a great price - I didn't have a look on the site to determine if they were or were not - cheers for the heads up

  • This maybe a stupid question. But why book through companies like IWTF rather than booking through Qantas direct, whats the incentive?

    • +1

You're not booking via IWTF. You're booking via agencies (OTAs) such as Expedia, STA, BYOJet, Wotif, Aunt Betty etc. IWTF is simply a travel aggregator. Booking through Qantas directly will almost always result in higher fares.

      • +2

In the past the prices have been like for like for me. I'll give it another shot though - cheers

        • +1

I stand corrected - slightly cheaper!

Did some more research and found a post/debate on OzB.
So there can be a slight saving - but some people have horror stories.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/229347

        • E.g. at the moment it's $599 for BNE to NRT on the qantas website for some of the dates listed above.

        • +1

@tux182: Screenshot the OTA price, walk into a Flight Centre, and they'll beat it by $1 :)

        • @tightarse: Nice - i wasnt sure if they would honor 'internet prices'. But i'll be sure to do just that :)

        • +2

@tux182: I recently booked with Fly365 and had to cancel/reschedule my flight. It ended up costing me 450 from Qantas + 100 to the travel agents, which pretty much offset my 100 dollar saving to begin with.

        • -1

          @cathole:

Hence book through points. Only cost 5000 points to change.

        • +1

@tux182: I'd always evaluate both options though. I was once in Brazil and missed my flight. I was facing exorbitant prices to book directly with some Brazilian airline. Luckily, I found a cheap ticket (~$60 compared to three times as expensive) from a cite like Cheapflight (or something similar)

        • @tux182: Flight Centre matched the GoToGate price - so basically a $70 odd saving. If anyone cares and is thinking of doing the same. Nice one guys - thanks for your help :)

  • Price from Sydney to Tokyo via Melbourne is $533 which is a great price if you don't mind a stop. I usually fly with Jetstar for not much less that and I usually don't book food.

  • that is cheap. so very tempting

  • THANKS - was look at around April - now just have to figure out what I am doing work !!

It might be wise to check the Qantas site for seat available for direct flights as well - see what they have - you might find the deals here might not always exist.

  • Are the Syd flights direct?
I checked a few dates and all need to stop over Mel, do I miss something?

    • +1

I added 'direct' for Sydney as that's what IWTF quoted on their website. Just checked a few fares, and it seems you're correct so I've updated the OP. Thanks.

      • Oh explains my comment below… for direct its 1k+ from Syd.

        • +1

Ye apologies for that. This is what's on IWTF's website…

Qantas is having a sale on flights to Tokyo, Japan. There are a few dates in March, then April till late June, August till Nov/18. This covers Cherry Blossom Season! Flights are direct from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

  • For dear life I cannot find those flight prices with variations on return dates in April.

  • +3

I've found Skyscanner to be the best flight search engine, often finding fares not visible on others .. :-) .. !!

  • Great prices compared to the last Cathay sales!

  • Still can't find a September deal

  • Has anyone experienced transit at Port Moresby airport?

  • +1

Similar price to Osaka as well.

Two adult and one child return fare to Osaka is $1860 in total, booked for Nov to see maple leaf red.

I have been to Japan five times, Autumn is the best season to visit!

    • Ye, noticed that earlier and the reason I didn't add to title is due to long stopover times in Tokyo. Were you able to find direct, or any with short stopover times?

    • Would have thought Cherry Blossom would be up there as well

  • I can't seem to find any direct flights from Melbourne to Tokyo?

  • Nothing from Perth???

  • +2

Any NSW April school hol dates available with Qantas

Had a look but couldn't find any

    Looking to dep:
    13 April in pm
    14 April
    15 April
    16 April
    17 April

    Return 26-28 April

    cheers

  • anyone booked via BYOJET and didnt have any dramas?

Never booked with anyone besides jetstar direct site.

    • +1

No dramas if u don't change anything. U can double check the booking reference they give u with Qantas right away if you have concerns.

  • +3

Booked with Aunty Betty using "NEWYEAR30" for $30 discount.

    https://www.auntbetty.com.au/new-year-deals

  • Is this legit with Qantas or flying with jetstar at the end?

    Thinking of going October

    • If it includes a Jetstar flight, it'll be noted in the list of carrier names in the search results.

  • No love for Perth? I hope something good comes up for us again for April. Missed out on the Singapore Air deal posted earlier :(

  • Could someone please let me know the fees for paying by Visa credit card with Aunt Betty.
In the past I used a website (can't remember which) and put all my personal data (full name, DOB, address, email, etc) only to find that they were charging ~$160 for two tickets in the final step.

  • So I've never used IWTF before. I understand it links to sites which offer the flights (?).

How safe is it? It sent me to iFLy.net.au which I've never heard of before.

  • Booked Sydney>Tokyo & Osaka>Sydney directly with Qantas in early Feb for a little over $700.
