Lounge in Melbourne and Doha airports

So ive got a 23 hour flight from Melbourne to europe in march, transiting through Doha. Melbourne airport is terrible with only 2 food options after customs, does anyone have a cheap way to get into any lounge? Ditto for Doha as the paid lounge there costs $75!

  • Get a dragonpass works out to be around £16
I’ve used it was a bit tricky to get the app set up and going but worked in the end.

  • Do you live in Melbourne? Buy a loaf of bread and your favourite spreads and make sandwiches.

  • Agree with above, if Melbourne is your home-base, do you really need a lounge?

Understandable for transit areas as you can be waiting some hours.

  • Its only because usually i reach Melb airport for international flights 3 hours before, and after immigration, food choices are terrible as its either Hungry Jacks or Gloria Jeans.

Doha yes, using Dragonpass is very helpful as I can get a shower after a 15 hour flight in the transit lounge.

    • I agree with you on getting in early and sitting in lounge
Definitely get pass in Doha, relax and enjoy.

  • Doha transit has plenty of cuisine/price options - there's no need to pay for lounge access there, just to access food of your choice.

  • For major part is getting a lounge in Melbourne as the Melb terminal sucks big time. They have Marhaba lounge but costs $65 to get in, i usually spend $10 on food so it would still cost $55 more. Anyone have better ideas?

  • There are more options behind immigration at Melbourne airport, including Movida, Cafe Vue and an Asian fast food thingy that I forget the name of. They may not be bargains and it is certainly a disappointing experience, but the situation isn't quite as dire as "only 2 food options".

    • oh and a couple of newsagent-type places that have plenty of (expensive) snacks.

  • Melb airport after immigration has no sitting areas until the gates, and I always end up at hungry jacks with the lengthy queues and inflated prices. Terrible food.
