    Oh for fruits cake!

Any retailer in WA offering this price I wonder?

    • wait awhile

    • Price Matching?

  • +1

Damn, wonder if they'll have the same price in Melb Costco.

    Been looking for a 70".

I've seen a lot of people on here say stay away from this one due to "50 htz refresh rate" etc etc; someone who has used this TV or something with similar specs care to chime in on whether it really is that bad?

And also, does Costco do delivery?

    • -2

Not sure if they deliver but use airtasker to get it delivered. That might be the cheapest way.

      • -1

It is cheapest but not the best way if things go pear shaped and you get broken TV delivered then you might be on your own. It's always best to source from a retailer who delivers it see comment a bit below to order from eBay for some more money.

The odd ignorant comment about 50hz (which is usually 60hz as most if not all TVs sold in oz will do both 50/60hz) refresh rate is best ignored. A great many that claim to be higher are in fact just marketing gimmick for various types of smooth motion/motion interpolation technology (what you often hear called soap opera effect), which most discerning users rightfully disable. Whilst higher hz is better, and you can get higher (though you need to be careful not to fall for gimmicks), there are many other things that go into the make up of what influences picture quality. With any TV purchase, go to the store with a USB stick carrying some content and play it (TV, movie, doco, sport), tweak the settings, see if you're happy enough. Read forums of people who have it and what they say.

      • +1

Each to their own any fast action movies I would go the maximum hz rating either 100/200 as for the 50hz that usually the rating in aus 60/120hz is the overseas models. The 6 series is the base model so basic motion processing basic hz rating and entry level panel. Agreed go into and have a look/play if they have a display model.

        • Tv and movies are usually run at either 23.9(PAL) frames per second or just under 30(NTSC). Most movies are 24fps. There is no point in having higher than 50-60Hz as it will be artificial interpolation to adjust. So in Australia we have 50hz so it's better for movies as there is only one frame missing to insert as it's divided by 50. America usually has 30fps for TV shows so they use 60hz so it does not need interpolation. Anything over 60hz is pointless on a TV as only a PC will show you more fps without any artificial interpolation

Always baffles me that people say it's only 50-60hz but they don't realise what fps or interpolation are running at. So they will never see anything more than that no matter what they watch!

      • Great comment. If there was a way to save comments for later reference I would save this! Only problem is that it is hard to test instore sometimes. Eg TVs at different heights with different lighting.

A friend organised a maxi cab to pick him and his TV up from Costco. (and rode home with the TV). After being dropped off at Costco, it only cost him about $30.

      • +3

Your friend probably lives in Auburn.

        • One of the (only?) benefits of living in Adelaide = $30 taxi ride anywhere.

    • UPDATE: Went to the Costco in Ringwood. They don't even have this model on display :(.

  • +2

Non Android version, so would be better to spend more for the 7xxx series

    • -2

Why the Neg with no response?

    • +10

I didn't neg but I consider non-Android to be a plus. Less smart crap there is the better. External boxes are generally much better in terms of performance and future maintenance anyway.

      • +5

Android feature on Sony is a plus compared to other Smart TVs.

      • +2

For the people who think Non Android is better have you actually tried it ??? The Non Android has alot less limited apps. Where the full android OS has access to the google play store and can download games apps etc as you please.

        • -7

Meh. I don't like Smart TVs all that much. Give me a dumb TV and an Apple TV 4 any day over anything else. Might be because I do some iOS/macOS/tvOS development that I prefer the platform.

        • +7

The point is a smart tv in a few years will be bogged down, require factory reset if you're loading apps onto it with constant updates rolling through. No not me is saying a "dumb" tv turns on fast, goes straight to HDMI1, and shows a Xiaomi mi box or nexus player whatever you have which will have an up to date processor, and keep with with the times

      • +2

There is android based and there is android TV, android based stuff is a bit crap, android tv is a winner, it is essentially like having a free mibox/chromecast in your TV.

      • +1

Yep. It’ll stop receiving OS and security updates within a couple of years.
Given the choice, I’d pick a dumb tv with lots of inputs so I could choose which external devices to add.

        • +1

Exactly. Nothing quite like having a TV with a microphone in the remote when it hasn’t received updates in 3 years.

  • Any tcl deals at Costco?

    • Not sure mate I'll have a look next time I'm there again

      $100 OFF TCL 50" P20US 4K HDR UHD TV with HDR-10 capability

      and

      $200 OFF TCL 65" P20US 4K HDR TV

Those are the two on the most recent coupon sheet. No idea what the prices are though.

$1830 delivered (using PCTECH code) if you don't live nearby. I can't imagine this fitting in a car either so might be better even if you do live in Sydney.

    Triluminous?

    EDIT::seriously … OLED, QLED or TRILUMINOUS….

    Right?!!, right!!!!?

    Otherwise… it’s no bargain.

    IMO.

  • Seems like a good deal.
Is it easy to 'share' someones membership for a 1 off purchase such as this.
ie. Can I just find a friend who has a costco membership, borrow their card, go into store and pay cash for purchase, then return friends card ?
Or do they check license and match photo od to costco card, or have photo on costco card if it doesnt match, they wont sell to you etc.
    Thanks

    • +1

Costco membership card has a photo of the member (like a driver's license) so the cashier usually verifies it this way

    • Pretty sure a member can take a guest with. Although, purchases have to be made with credit card with same name as member (or pay cash).

      • yep you can take a uest, but the member has to pay using their own credit card.

They check your card photo & credit card name when purchasing.

      • purchases have to be made with credit card with same name as member

Is that their policy? It's a good thing they never check the cc when we go.

    • You can get a full refund on the membership if you are not satisfied with it. So just buy a membership, buy the TV, and then refund the membership. In saying that, it might be worth holding on to the membership anyway as I believe Costco has a pretty generous returns/warranty for members.

      • You have 28 days to return a tv if you are not happy with it. Confirmed and asked last week.

Obviously that's change of mind, not warranty issues.

  • Would this be any other Costco stores? I’m hoping North Lakes (BNE) have some!

  • Ughhh, when will we see a decent price on the Hisense 75N7.

    • 75"TVs are a lot of real estate, a lot more physical bits that have to go into it, not sure they'll ever get down to $1600 unless on a run out sale!

    • +3

Of the 3 hisense TVs I have used, none had a loading time of less than 60 seconds from pressing the power button to being able to watch.

  • Revising the question

  • Would you guys rather a hisense TV every 2 years or get a lg oled for 5 years?

    • +3

      Quantity doesn't equal quality

    • What about a Hisense for 5 years?

  • Bought this from Good Guys for $1999 a f/n ago. Will they honour their 120% payback the difference? They might say it’s Costco and it’s a membership shop.
