D-LINK [DSL-4320L] TAIPAN - AC3200 Ultra Wi-Fi Mode NBN Router / Modem Now $367.20 (Was $459) @ sydneytec eBay

70
PRAWNS

First post, long time lurker.

This is the cheapest I have seen this modem/router. It has the highest line sync on NBN, measured by Finder.

Although there are cheaper modem/routers that can give you the same speed and please note, it does not have VOIP

Apparently, there is also free express postage. I just picked one up and hopefully they have plenty of stock.

  • This is FTTN and ADSL right?

Just wanna make sure the type of NBN is clear for not to techy types.. Since we have to deal with Mal's mess and all.

    • Modem/Router so YES.

    Good post

    Good price

Great modem. I use it on my 25mbps Bigpond fttn NBN and get a line sync speed of 28mbps.

I use my Telstra supplied router connected as a standard Ethernet device to the taipan and with a little effort can now use the VoIP capabilities of the Telstra router

only AU $340.06 at Warehouse1 with PRAWNS code

      Damn. $27, flush.

On second look, it is cheaper from warehouse1 but they appear to have some (questionable)[http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2672157] practices when it comes to stock.

More recently people (here)[https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5524077/redir] are complaining about slow shipping.

And they did run out of stock of the same (router)[https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354303] not that long ago.

But I guess some people bought it and got it okay so maybe they are alright. I'm not sure how reliable sydneytec are but I received an item shipped notification about an hour after ordering.

  • Good price. But I find that I'm not getting full reception upstairs in my room, when the router is semi close distance wise downstairs. My mums house which is bigger has the Asus rt a68u and that one I receive full signal upstairs. So Kinda expected more for the price as the Asus was 50% cheaper..

It really depends what your house is made of. If you have metal studs/support its harder for the signal to go through, your mums house might have wooden struts.

      Price can't beat physics.

  • Thinking of getting this but wondering how much of a power draw a router like this is compared to more middle of the line routers?

I purchased an item from Warehouse1 not long ago from eBay sale, never received the item, now I have to open a Paypal dispute to get my money back, their shipping method is randomly ship small number of orders and hold up the rest, seems they have cahsflow issue,No Paypal= NO order from Warehouse1, buyer beware.
