After having a long look around online for a good quality drink bottle to help me get through the summer I came across a good deal on David Jones website.

I've got a few of these and the bite valves become manky pretty quickly. I was using milton to decon them but I got sick of doing that so bought the I bought some Chute tops separately.

I'm very surprised how popular these are. We have a couple, and I would have thought a reusable drink bottle that grows mold in the teat if you don't clean it with a cotton bud every few days is a major design flaw.

^Agreed. Camelbak waterbottles get absolutely vile and that's even with regular maintenance. Made the mistake of buying 1, will not make it again.

    • I have 4 x Camelbak Eddy bottles, two 1L and two kids and would not recommend them.

      1. Mold in the bite valve.
      2. Bite Valve deteriorates very quickly
      3. Leakage when put on the side for one of the 1L
      4. Kids version if the valve isn't put back down the water will somehow leak out creating a puddle on your table.

Enquired about the Camelbak GOT YOUR BAK warranty and what a joke. Went to the website and got redirected to the international site which requires you to fill out a form and post your bottle to California at your own cost. Sent an email to the Australian email address and never got a response.

EDIT: After reading a comment above, it appears you can get replacement parts easily but for a full bottle replacement you'll have to print out the form and fill it out

      • Just ask for Chute caps. They go straight on the Eddy bottles.

      • The bottles themselves don't break so no point in asking for a replacement unless you were hoping for a freebie. They'll send spare parts without any hassle.

  • I personally prefer contigo http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1…, Coles having sale $14 until 6th Feb but limited colour choices

  • What’s wrong with a Voss bottle?

      Says VOSS on it.

  • This deal is still available for $20 shipped.

I've had about 3-4 of these and they always leak near the mouthpiece. Had several new tops sent under warranty (their warranty is great btw.. they just replace it no questions) but they all have the same problem. Must be just poor design.

    • Did you contact camelbak direct or via the place of purchase?

      • direct…you go through the website and end up on the US site. Just enter your details (no receipt reqd) and they'll send you the parts. Got mine in a couple of weeks but didn't make much difference..

        • Yeah cool thanks. Like I said I have swapped over to the Chute model tops. Just interested in the warranty claim process for their lifetime warranty.
My bite valves leaked too. Not a great design.

        • @Flyerone:

Thanks for the tip I just ordered the chute tops under warranty for my eddy.

Never had an issue with leaks, just the valve going gross and disgusting every week.
    Might look at other bottles.
