FAQ

Where do I enter the coupon code?
* When you click "Proceed to Checkout" button, it'd say below the payment method "Have Coupon?"

It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title
* Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

How do I ensure I get the cheapest AUD price possible
* To avoid higher currency conversion rates and to get cheapest price from these Chinese websites, you should get a credit card that charges zero currency conversion fees. 28Degrees, Bankwest Zero, Coles Mastercard are generally popular. Irrespective of what credit card you use, always choose to pay in USD on these Chinese websites, (Choose "USD" from top left hand corner). Additionally set your Paypal so it "bills you in the currency on Seller's Invoice". To set your PayPal account this way permanently, follow the steps shown in these snapshots [Highly recommended]

  • showing its age now and its limitations - but this is the bottom of page 2 so clearly I am in a minority.

What’s a better option though? Especially for the price.

None for the price. For android TV specifically, it's either this or nvidia shield. The shield is much better but also much more expensive.

In terms of android media players(not android tv), Minix make really good boxes. But once again looking at like $150-$180.

At this price it's a really good deal and will be more than sufficient for most peoples needs.

  • Remote looks pretty simple. Guessing there'd be no issues mapping it to a Logitech Smart Control remote (or similar with Harmony hub - ie does Bluetooth). Anybody doing this and able to advise ?

    • you can pair it with the harmony hub as a keyboard
then you can customize to your hearts content, just use the Kodi keyboard shorts via the remote

      • Thanks. Will give that a go.

I was dissatisfied with my QNAP's home theatre capabilities so I decided to get a dedicated box.

After a lot of research I settled on the Vero 4k, which was developed by the same guy who gave the world Raspbmc. The dev team has committed to supporting the Vero for at least 5 years.

It's on the expensive side but during sales you can get one for ~ £100.

Pick the right Kodi box guide

PS. The dealbreaker for Android OS is that in 99% of cases it won't do automatic resolution switch between 1080p/4k. You have to set it manually every time.

  • Price is USD69.99 not USD66.99. Has USD price changed or is this a mistake in the post heading?

    • As per the first line in the description.

Doh. Thanks. Only a few minutes left. About to order.

  • Is there a non 4k edition that's significantly cheaper at all?

Much as I want one of these, they never really seem to be what I'd call cheap.

  • I have no idea where to put the promotion code in…..

    • Did you read FAQ in the description?

      • just saw it… so damn hard to see it……

I have 3 x Nexus Players, all of which the remotes have died. I now have 2 of the Miboxes and they are brilliant. Remote is better and the machine is a lot more stable than the Nexus Player.

These are the best boxes for streaming/viewing tv/movies. The only problem with android TV is there aren't many apps for it. You have to use regular android apps many of which don't work too well with the remote. A mouse can help though I use a mouse app that turns the regular remote into a mouse remote

The best app to install is apktime. From this app, you can install all other apps. It's brilliant!

I use mainly Stremio (with all the addons installed) and Terrarium for watching TV and movies. Kodi is a waste of time now. The other 2 apps are so much quicker and easier to use. You can however, use apktime to install Kodi with all addons if you wish.

Oh, and the chromecast works perfectly.

    • What apps are missing?

      • What do you mean?

        • What apps aren’t supported? Anything that is a game changer

        • @asa79: All apps are supported by the machine. It's the remote that has problems with some apps. As I previously mentioned, using a mouse is an easy get around.

If you don’t want to wait for long with the posting times of LITB, consider to buy from these guys https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-MI-BOX-Android-6-0-Smart-… by using the 5% off code PICKS

It will cost you few bucks more but faster postage. I got mine in about 3 - 4 working days. Hope this helps someone.

    Cheers

    • PICK5, not PICKS

      • Oops. Thanks for the correction
